Last year I figured out what song I would use for my first December battle. My inspiration came while sitting in the Grand Ole Opry watching their spectacular Christmas show when familiar memories of Daddy singing Christmas Time’s A Comin’ filled my head.
Christmas Time’s A Comin’ was written by Tex Logan and first recorded by Bill Monroe in 1951. The original along with a lot of the covers have that old timey country twang. In my battle I found two artists that don’t incorporate that twang into their versions of this old tune and luckily both are well known, established talents.
Listen to each contender, Riders in the Sky and the Oak Ridge Boys, sing Christmas Time’s A Comin’ to decide who you like the best.
Polls close on Dec. 7th at noon (ET)!
That concludes another edition of Battle of the Bands. I hope you have time to check out the other battles underway. The list of participants is in my side bar beneath the BOTB banner. I’ll announce the winner of today’s showdown next week, same time. Coming up a little later in the morning join me for Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays. This is CAAC signing off, have a bandtastic day!

Hard to believe it’s Dec. 1st already! 😲 This song was new to me and I preferred the fuller vocals of the Oak Ridge Boys.
I recall hearing this song in years past. It’s been a while since I’ve heard this. As much as I like the Oaks, I’m going to give my vote to the Riders despite that yodeling at the end.
