Chats & Hodgepodge

How exciting! Next week, Patrice & Wendell are throwing a party. There’s going to be prizes and everything. I’ll be there with bells on, Pat & Wendell, you can count me in!

Now, grab a cup of coffee and join in today’s farmhouse chats.

  1. What’s your favorite room in your home? My favorite room would have to be the living room because this is where we spend so much time as a family.
  2. If you could go anywhere on a vacation, all expense paid, where would it be? That’s an easy question, no brain power for this one. I would pick Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine.
  3. Were you a girl scout or in any similar program? Yes, I was in the Girl Scouts. I have some fond memories from those early years.
  4. What’s your favorite frozen treat? Definitely ice cream!
  5. Are you NASCAR or the elderly lady with the pillbox hat when you drive? I’m a cross between NASCAR & crazy old lady driver (not that I’m old coz I’m not!). This is largely because I don’t drive much. When I do, I’m a little apprehensive behind the wheel, but I drive too fast (in my opinion) and I sometimes cut others off (totally accidental – it’s my nerves). Otherwise, I’m a pretty good driver. Hey, I see you shaking your head saying, “Yeah, right!” What do you mean by that?

1. The Summer Olympics begin next week and London is playing host. If you had the chance to go in person which (non-Olympic) London site would you most like to visit?

It will be a huge challenge to get me to travel anywhere by plane. So, good luck with that one. However, we can all daydream of faraway places. That being said, then I think I would like to see Windsor Castle because I think it would be so cool to visit a castle and pretend I am a princess for a day.

2. What is something in your life right now that feels like an Olympic event?

My weight loss progress, except I’m not a gold medalist, I’m flubbing big time! There are times when I feel like I’m taking the lead on this thing to find myself in the last place when I step on the scales at my weekly weigh-ins. Everything I do just isn’t cutting it. Okay, I lost a whole half pound last week. Isn’t that just disgusting? I mean, I workout HARD and I have an eagle eye count on my calories. What more can I do? Seezh, I don’t know!

3. What’s your favorite supper to prepare and serve when it’s too hot to cook?

Ice Cream? This is what my family would want. I would have to be the party pooper by saying no to the fun. I do remember one time while on vacation, we had ice cream for dinner. The kids thought it was a blast, but I was still hungry afterward and sick.

4. July 18th is National Get Out of the Doghouse Day…when was the last time you were ‘in the doghouse’?

The question should be when are you not in the doghouse? with me. I mean, I’m forever like doing something which causes someone to be annoyed with me. No, I’m not paranoid. Okay, yes, I’m paranoid! But, that still doesn’t change the fact I do things which cause these general symptoms in people – headbanging, gnashing of teeth, pulling hair out, slip of the tongue,…. well, you get what I’m saying. Rover may as well just get used to me being a permanent roomy with him.

5. What television advertisement do you find particularly irritating or inappropriate? You may not answer with ‘all of them’. I know some of you were thinking about it.

For some reason, don’t ask me, but the Progressive auto insurance commercials with Flo really irritate me. I just think that woman is annoying. Does anyone else feel like me? I mean, I know she’s in character and more chances than not, she’s nothing like this. Which makes me question, why does such a large company like Progressive use her? Well, I guess anyone who doesn’t care if someone is spying on them. Yeah, that’s what Progressive does with that little tracker thingy under the hood of their (your) car (or where ever it is it clips in) logging how fast you go or how far from home you travel to work, all in order (so they say) to give you those huge discounts is a bunch a poppycock! That’s called spaying, in my opinion. Just saying is all, but…if you’re happy with that and you don’t mind others prying in your life…. okay, enough said…..next question. Remember, I’m paranoid.

6. Share one piece of interesting news from the year you were born.

Since we are facing the summer Olympics in a few weeks, as Joyce pointed out and although figure skating falls in the winter Olympics, let’s remember the World Figure Skating Team that died in a plane crash in 1961. You can read more here.

7. What’s the best part of your average day?

The best part of any day is when my DH comes home. It’s funny how you can miss your other half so much it hurts. There are days just like that for me, but mostly I simply have a deep yearning to see him again. I attribute these feelings to those crazy little endorphins perhaps better known as the “Love Bug”. Yep, even after 33-years, I am still plagued by this once only thought of newbie courtship ailment. I’m very blessed to be in a very happy, loving relationship with my husband and I know I’m not the only one who experiences feelings like this.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

This morning, I’m jamming to tunes set on my Maroon5 iHeartRadio station. Do you have a smartphone? If so, then you can download this app for free and begin enjoying countless songs with a few clicks. Take a look for yourself to see, if iHeart is for you!

DH decided he wanted to do something really special for the fine folks in the dental practice where he has spent the better part of a year and a half getting root canals, crowns replaced, and an implant. He found this cute little figurine to give to the women.

This little angel was really difficult to come by because every place I checked either sold out or had only 2 or 3 in stock, which meant to come up with 8-angels I had to order from three different places.  The photo source link was my favorite of the three sites I ordered from and I’ll tell you why. 1. They have free shipping on all orders over $50 – totally doable! 2. Of the three orders, this one was the quickest at reaching me (in Pennsylvania) even though one order came from Pigeon Forge (practically in my backyard). Needless to say, chances are good that if I need to order similar products like this again in the future then I’ll definitely look to ChestertonManor.com next time!

Are you looking for another mid-week meme to participate in? If so, then I want to invite you to check out one I co-host called, Wayback Wednesdays. Just click on today’s post entitled: Brand New Key. I would sure to love to have you join us!

This has been a blog hop participation. If you wanna get in on the fun, just join Joyce from This Side of the Pond for Wednesday Hodgepodge.

  1. Hey there! I just added myself to your followers for support, and I wanted to invite you to follow back maybe and check out awesome Gift-card Giveaway I’m having right now!

Hope to see you there, and thank you!

  2. Yay, ice cream! Maine sounds wonderful. I have always wanted to visit that state. Looking forward to your visit to Pat & Wen’s party.

  3. We will have to watch the roads for each other next time I’m in Knoxville. I’ll be the one flying like I’m on the Indy 500. LOL

  4. I lived close to Windsor and spent lots of time there. The castle is one of my faves and the town is cute too.

I am not a fan of Flo either!

  5. I am similar to you in regards to flying! How sweet that you are still so in love with your husband 🙂

  6. I was totally going to put Weight Loss for the Olympic event as well… its so discouraging sometimes, isnt it? Work so hard for such small results … sigh…

FLO? I LOVE FLO!!!! 🙂 I’ve actually been compared to her with the ‘giddy joy’ she has – that’s what I’ve been told anyways 🙂

  7. I had Maine on my holiday list too, but I was greedy and Maine was only one place out of loads!! You know – I didn’t know about the skating team … 🙁 How awful that must have been :'(

  8. Love your answers. Funny – I “accidently” cut people off sometimes too. Well, only when they can’t make up their mind and hesitate 🙂 Yes, those Progressive ads are annoying and there is one for Herbal Magic Weight Loss that almost sends me over the edge. Sheesh!
    I’m following now too 🙂

  9. Oh yeah…the weight loss. Totally forgot about that one what with all the purging of junk I”m doing around here. I’m listening to my Maroon 5 station on Pandora this morning. Maybe i can get iHeart for my ipod touch? My phone is an android—I’ll have to check it out for that too because, most of the time, Pandora sucks. LOL

  10. I don’t think I knew that about the US Skating Team. What a disaster.
I listen to iHeart Radio on my laptop; I like it better than Pandora because of no ads! 🙂

  11. I smiled and laughed reading this post, especially the parts about the paranoid driver! I’m a bit paranoid too, but that’s because South Florida has so much traffic. I’m a lot less paranoid in other parts of the state.

I think I’ll join you for some of these mid-week blog hops. They look like fun!

  12. I love your answers…and I think the weight loss thing is what most all women go thru…so sad!! 🙁 and, yes….Flo sorta grates on my nerves, too!!! HOPE the rest of your week is great!
