Cathy’s Pinup Girl #AtoZChallenge artsketch series (‘W’) hits the 4M dance floor with “Angel song titles/lyrics”

My A2Z daily illustration inspired by a number of ‘wash day’ images

There’s nothing like line-dried clothing, especially bedding! I love, love, love that smell, don’t you?  Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me!  I had to get in my daily tune to match my sketch theme. Sara Evan’s “Suds In The Bucket” is peppy and I loved the video footage of an old-fashion wash board and bucket then line drying the clothes. Great tie in with my sketch!

Okay now this month’s honorary co-hostess are our furriends across the pond, Binky and Granny from Angelswhisper2011! They sure have done an excellent job for first timers, don’t cha think?  Y’all are welcome step up to the plate anytime, just say so I’ll virtually pencil down for the month of your choosing. For their last week’s theme, these two want us to share Angel song titles/lyrics song picks on the dance floor.

All of my song picks are new discoveries with the exception of Sarah McLachlan’s 1997 hit song.  My Angel Song Titles playlist include the following songs:

  1. Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel ~Tavares
  2. Mountain Angel  ~Dolly Parton
  3. In the Arms of an Angel ~Sarah McLachlan
  4. Teaching Angels How to Fly ~Jackie Evancho
  5. Like An Angel Passing  Through My Room ~ABBA
  6. Angel With a Shotgun ~The Cab

DISCLOSURE…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Usually when I think about doing the laundry my mind off veers back to the days when I doing this job for five, especially during the children’s early years as it was the most challenging time to keep everything washed, dried, and folded up. I didn’t do a grand job and most of the time if I couldn’t find something chances were favorable that it was still in the dryer, dried but not folded. For those struggling to keep up with this mundane, seemingly never-ending chore I found the purrfect motivational quote.

The month is quickly wrapping up. I can’t believe in a few days it’ll be out the door and so will the A to Z Challenge blog fest for another year. Whew, time really flies!  I hope you’ll join me for morning coffee and another peek at my newest A2Z pinup girl illustration. Have a wonderful day!

X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. Love all your choices Cat! I never knew there were so many Angel songs. Great job. I especially like Teaching Angels How to Fly byJackie Evancho, but it sure don’t sound like her. So pretty. Angel With a Shotgun I never heard that one before. I’m sorry gotta cut this one short. I have a horrible tooth ache, but woo hoo I got a appointment for tomorrow!! Praise the Lord!!! You have a great day honey you & yours! Stay healthy & by the way I’m sorry I’m such a pain lately. Love you girlfriend! HUGS

  2. Another great sketch, CK, I can almost smell the furresh wash till here😸Love the song of Dolly Parton, that we haven’t heard ever before, and your playlist too. Granny loved to dance on Tavares’ Heaven must been missing an angel. Those were the days, huh? Great quote too, so true 😸Clean Pawkisses for a Happy Monday. Stay Safe Healthy and Yourselfie🙏🐾😽💞

  3. Great choices for songs! The drawing is good, though I think it’s a little small. The lady looks nice, that’s the important thing.

  4. Cute. I remember my mom hanging the laundry out in the backyard but I never liked the feel of air-dried clothes. Too stiff. Of course, she didn’t look like that – LOL

  5. Your pin up is great! you captured the fun and the naughty plus you drew her well. Love that you included one of my favourite ABBA songs that few know. It is so gentle. Now I have to try and catch up

  6. I love the sketch. It’s what our mothers did when we were kids. I so remember, but my mom didn’t look this hot. Just saying.

Love the quote and that pup is a huge aw.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs, Cathy. ♥

  7. Great drawing and excellent music choices. Have a wonderful week. XO

  8. Absolutely awesome song list. Dolly’s voice is uniquely suited to the harmonies of bluegrass. You and I both found the haunting sound of Sarah McLachlan to be more than worthy of inclusion in the angelic voices posted here. The Abba song is especially nice and new to me.
Like others, the Westie is precious. If we didn’t own my favorite breed, the American Cocker Spaniel, the Westie just might be my choice of pup around the house. Have a blessed week.

  9. Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday and “W” Day, dear friend!

As I mentioned in a previous comment on your series, it was a common sight in vintage pinups to see women in alluring clothes performing household chores. Today’s miss is another good example. It appears she is accidentally fastening her skirt to the line with clothespins as she poses and smiles. Either that or a gust of wind has inflated her dress and revealed her shapely legs for us. It’s a wonderful pinup sketch and I look forward to seeing her In Living Color at some point.

I enjoyed the cute story song and video “Suds In The Bucket” by country thrush Sara Evans. It goes perfectly with your pinup theme and it tells the truth. “You can’t stop love.” “Left the suds in the bucket and the clothes hangin’ out on the line.” My mother used to hang clothes on a metal “tree” in our back yard. Whenever the breeze blew my way as I played nearby I could smell that fresh scent.

I enjoyed your “Angel” song set. The only tune I knew going in was the disco hit “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel.” My favorite is the last one, “Angel With A Shotgun” by The Cab, a Las Vegas based alt. rock band led by Alexander DeLeon who in my opinion almost sounds like a female rock vocalist.

I want that doggie in the pot! 🙂 Yessum, A to Z month flew by and the challenge is soon over for another year. Before you know it, we will be looking back on this trying year 2020 in December and wondering where the time went.

Have a great day, dear friend Cathy, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
