It is October 31st. This day used to mark an evening of fun as a kid dressing up to go door to door in hopes of getting some good treats and I usually did. No rocks for this kid! I tossed out a theme for this week going with All Hallow’s Eve to build your song set using the History Channel for inspiration.
Halloween is about spooks and things that go bump in the night, right? Halloween is based on an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain. They would dance around a bonfire wearing costumes with the hope of keeping away ghosts.
In my Internet research Hunter’s Moon by Ghost popped up on YouTube. Vocally, I enjoyed the band more than I first thought. The video is a bit creepy but that’s sorta is what makes it appealing for the season at hand. I sampled several of their songs after which I discovered the playlist of their album, Impera, released in March of this year. Track 8 “Twenties” I didn’t like mostly because of a word I really dislike, mother*beep*. While Ghost isn’t my normal music genre. I found the album listenable and a nice change.
This is a music linky party. Your co-hostess are Stacy, Alana, and Me. Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
Unless volunteers sign up to co-host in the new year, I thought we’d try for-going this formality but let’s keep a theme going using y’alls suggestions. That being said, put your thinking cap on and send in your music prompts right away. I’ll be sure to credit every person who throws something this way on my 2023 4M Prompts page. Thanks for being apart of the party. Tomorrow, I’ll be back with another James Bond Theme Song BOTB showdown. This is CAAC signing off, have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

Happy to know that you and your family in Maine are feeling better. Ghost has been on my radar for a while; in fact, I’ve thought about posting a couple of their songs but the videos for the songs were a bit (to me) offputting. I don’t like the m-f word (or the f word, for that matter) in songs unless there is a really (really really) good reason for it. Anyway, I knew four songs from this album so it was good listening to the rest of the album. Alana ramblinwitham
Happy Halloween, Cathy! Have a spooktacular day! 🎃
Thanks, Eugi and the same to you! 😉
🥰
No fear of spiders here. Happy Halloween and keep dancing!
Mimi,
Little spiders don’t scare me, it’s the ones big enough to eat me that make me scream like a girl. lol
Boogie on and Happy Halloween from the ghosts and goblins at Brian’s Home!
Hey Brian,
So happy you and your furblings came by for some mewsic. I hope the ghosts and goblins trolling your street on Halloween night didn’t scare you too much. Have a boogietastic week!
Love Ghostbusters. Happy Halloween! XO
Ghostbusters is a great film and the theme song fantastic!
Awww, what a cutie pie. We’re going to hide tonight. It’s what we do anymore.
Love the videos. Excellent choices.
I’m with you on the fear of spiders.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥
Sandee,
Halloween night I almost forgot it was Halloween. lol No trick or treaters, all was quiet. Thanks for swinging by, my dear!
I hope you are doing well this Halloween. It’s rainy and icky outside so I doubt we will have many plus I work past 6pm. My hubby hates Halloween so we ate keeping our lights off. I hate doing that. As for the music…not my cup of tea. Funny, that swear word doesn’t bother me like Cee U next Thursday. I truly hate that word.
Birgit,
You and me both. I really hate the f-word in any form. Thanks for boogieing by, my friend!
Happy Halloween, Cathy. 🎃 We had fun with it in our younger years – lots of parties, but ignore it now. 😆 Ours is a quiet side street which doesn’t get much traffic, anyway. I’m loving your Ghost playlist! Call Me Little Sunshine gets played on the radio here all the time. I couldn’t view your last video – not available in Canada – but I’m sure it was good too. The baby Doughboy is so adorable! 😀 And yes, spiders give me the creeps. 😱 Have a good week!
Debbie,
The only spiders that really give me the creeps are the big hairy ones. knock on wood It’s been many years that any of these found their way into our house but when they did, it was all I could do to capture it and then leave it for DH to kill. lol
That is such a classic song. Very nice. Thanks for hosting this great party.
Patrick,
Thanks for being apart of this great party. We sure do appreciate you boogieing with us each week!
Ray Parker … Ghostbusters…hmmm
Thanks for joining the party, Robin! I hope you have a good week, my friend. 😉
I love that you picked Ghost! I have been a fan since 2015 so that’s awesome. That song is a bit weak, in terms of their entire catalog, but good pick! They are one of those bands that outsiders think are “scary” but they’re a bunch of puppies comparatively speaking. Really nice guys.
I’ve found out over the years that many of these so-called hard/metal rock bands aren’t much like their stage personalities. It just goes to show you can’t judge a book by its cover. 🙂
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Paw-some 4M Monday and Happy Halloween 2022, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.
Awww… I just wanna smooch that little sailor boy. He’s a cutie!
I remember discovering the Swedish rock band Ghost B.C. around ten years ago when I explored genres of Euro rock and metal on my old blog. I might have posted a song or two of theirs. This morning I enjoyed listening to the band, now known simply as Ghost, on Impera, their latest album released earlier this year. Impera is described as a collection of 80s style rock and pop songs drawing influence from such diverse acts as ABBA, Boston, Ronnie James Dio, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. The overriding theme of the album is “the rise and fall of empires.” Track #2, “Kaisarion,” brought to mind the late 60s/early 70s San Antonio-based psychedelic rock band Bubble Puppy and their song “Lonely,” the B side of their only hit “Hot Smoke And Sasafrass.”
I have seen the place of
Platinum and gold
Lonely I was waiting
For your return
Sheltered from the dawn’s light
Hidden all around
Lonely I was listening
To hear a sound
In my silent sorrow
I must turn away
Lonely now,
The debt has been repaid
Back to the Ghost album, I like the song and mewsic video for “Spillways.” The ultra melodic vocal and arrangement recreates the sound of 80s pop rock and pop metal hair bands. I see that “Spillways” approached he top 10 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart. The song and video for “Call Me Little Sunshine” are a bit darker and even more to my liking. It is definitely one of my Picks To Click. I see that “Call Me Little Sunshine” and the next song on the album, “Hunter’s Moon,” both topped the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart. A different version of “Hunter’s Moon” can be heard playing over the closing credits of the 2021 slasher horror movie Halloween Kills. “Watcher In The Sky” is another great song, and I also enjoyed “Twenties,” another single released from Impera, but one that failed to reach the international charts..
Ghost’s Impera has received very good critical reviews, and I can hear why. Most of the songs on the album are commercial, melodic and pop-leaning. The songs on the album that go heavier and darker are the ones that most satisfy my rockthirsty ears.
I like the girl featured in Ray Parker’s “Ghostbusters” video. She’s actress Cindy Harrel, and I saw her in the role of a stewardess in the 1986 Tom Hanks – Jackie Gleason movie Nothing In Common.
Thanks for the mewsical entertainment for Halloween, dear friend Cathy. My final H-ween post of the year is now up and running at Shady’s Place and I invite you over to sample the shivery sights and sounds, I also want to tell you that I am still thinking about your loved ones who recently fell ill and hoping they (and you) are feeling better by now. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
Here it is mid-week and I just realized I did not respond to commenters on this post. Good grief! roll eyes The Ghost album is interesting, most tracks are quite listenable when surprised me. I’m glad that I was reeled in to sample this album. I didn’t know the actress by name in Ray Parker’s music video. I can’t say for sure if we’ve seen the movie “Nothing In Common”. I enjoyed Tom Hanks earlier films. He’s such a good actor. I loved him in the TV series Bosom Buddies. That’s probably the first thing I ever saw him in.
I appreciate knowing that you’ve been thinking about us. Our daughter, her boyfriend, and LA have recovered from being sick. We have almost gotten rid of our allergy problems. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, ole pal. Have a good week!
