Welcome to week 170
For the entire month of December, we are hosting a “Christmas” theme – music, movie clips, galore. Whatever makes you jolly, or puts that “ho-ho” (sorry, no bah-hum-bugs allowed) in your attitude, then we want to hear it right here on Monday’s Music Moves Me!
Christmas dreams are certainly full of fluff with Santa Claus and reindeer, presents under the Christmas tree, and many of the other traditional holiday customs. These things are all good and fine. In fact, I not only enjoy them but have handed down these to our children. The thing when doing the fun stuff is to not forget the meaning of Christmas. DH and I enlightened our kiddos from early on the real reason for the season. Jim Reeves explains it pretty well in this song.
Our lovely hostesses, XmasDolly, would like to thank you for joining the party and as always JAmericanSpice, Stacy Uncorked, Just the stuff ya know & myself are happy that you came. Now, it’s time to get our groove on with you so remember to link up and shake your bootie with the fellow rockin’ blogger buds below!
To be considered for honorary co-host each month, then be sure to add your URL to the link up.
Dance party rules: Grab XmasDolly 4M button here, display it on your blog, and then add your favorite weekly music theme YouTube videos for everyone to enjoy. We aren’t music snobs if you have tunes to share that don’t fit in with our theme, then no problem! As long as you have music to share, then everything is cool coz all we want to do is dance with you!
One of my favorite childhood songs is.
My parents celebrated Christmas, mingling Biblical and traditional holiday customs. My siblings and I believed in Santa for a short while till we were old enough to understand that Santa Claus was a fictional character. We also understood that the idea of Santa is based on a real person – St. Nicholas. We turned out okay in the end and perhaps a little better off for believing in Santa. My ex-pastor, who has since gone home to heaven, told me… “As long as we have parents, then Santa lives.” I liked his response . Later on, I shared it with our children when they were beyond the “Santa” believing stage and I think it gave them the same comforting sense as it did with me.
I stumbled upon this lovely poem and wanted to pass it to you.
Christmas Eve
But Santa still knelt by the side of the bed.
There’s much work to do and my schedule is tight.
Knowing full well that a reindeer can’t fly.
I’ll cover the world and all in one night.
Amid the soft clatter of each little hoof.
So I’ll slide down the chimney of each child’s heart.
The supply will be endless like the loaves and the fishes.
I’ll eat every cookie that is left for my snack.
I just need your blessing, then it’s easy to do.
That was sent to redeem us, Your most Holy Son.
Please Lord, remind them who gave me this job.”
Did you have a good time on the dance floor? I did. Next stop… your place! What Christmas music moves you?
Be sure to come back next week to dance with the 4M crew, and if you can’t get enough music, then join me for Saturday Song-suasion!

I love that song by Reeves. I had my Sunday School class do that last year.
Beautiful poem. I thought this might be the last year of Santa for my 9 year old….but he jumped right up on his lap Sunday and gave his list! LOL
thank you for sharing that — you’ve eased my mind on how exactly I will broach the subject with him when the time comes.
Such a beautiful post Cathy.
I love what your pastor shared with you. I hope I shall remember it.
I try to balance the same with my children also.
Thanks for sharing and have a blessed week!
Two of my favorites from days gone by.
Up On a Housetop was my mother’s favorite Christmas song when she was young. I think it’s cute, and it’s sure fun to play on the piano.
Second time today I have seen both songs but since I like them, it is nice twice!
Glad to see you and love joining you on the 4M’s dance floor.
Great minds think alike..loving some Jim Reeves today and Gene Autry is always a hit around here. Wishing you a very happy week.
I am one of the only people in the world who doesn’t like christmas songs – too many years of listening for too many days straight when I waited tables. I think i have a little christmas carole ptsd
Jim Reeves always reminds me of my childhood housetop is new to me
