Broken Crown/ Nail Life/ Protein Intake/Changing Seasons – RTT

Over the weekend, my darling husband’s temporary crown cracked. How uncool is that? Thankfully, it didn’t hurt.  The worse part was he could only have soft foods – soup, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, etc.  Fortunately, he got it repaired yesterday. Yay!

He’s been undergoing a big affair with the dentist, since March.  To date, he’s had four root canals and an extraction.  He’ll have tooth implant surgery soon.  The truth of the matter is when you have deep cavity fillings, then root canals are always a possibility somewhere down the line.  One thing is for sure, we both wished we had listened to our parents about brushing our teeth. This is a fine example of consequences following our actions. Say a prayer that these temps do not break while we wait for his permanent crowns.

For the past three years, I’ve been using a product from Sally’s Beauty Supply called Nail Life Nail Revitalizer Treatment.  This is amazing stuff! If you have difficult to grow fingernails, then this is for you! I needed to get another bottle of this miracle polish. We zipped in Sally’s on Saturday while running errands so I could buy it. They had a cool promotion going on.  I was able to buy two Nail Life products and get a third FREE!

Have you ever thought about how much protein you get in your diet?  It’s surprising to learn this is something I do not get enough of.

According to the Protein Calculator, I need to consume 66 grams of protein daily.

There are two major problems I have with making this work:

  1. I’m not hungry enough to eat the amount recommended.
  2. It’s difficult to squeeze in 66g of protein while maintaining a caloric intake of 1000 per/day.

The thing I don’t understand is, will this keep me from losing the muscle I have or will it help me to gain muscle?  I don’t want bulky muscles. That’s not my point.  My goal is to have shapely muscles.  Does anyone know the answer to my concerns?

It’s hard fighting the temptation to think about the changing seasons.  Autumn is a month (less) away. I’m anticipating the things I enjoy most about fall – candy corn, vivid colors, autumn’s scent, fall mums, pumpkins, Tennessee football, apple cider, trips to the mountains, shorter days,…

Once my mind gets set on these thoughts, then it doesn’t take much for me to push pass these to envision the holidays.  It’s almost like a little sprinkle of magic dust has fallen on my head.  I get so happy thinking about our warm Thanksgiving feasts gathered with family or the beautifully decorated artificial evergreen tree at Christmas.  Just when I’m complaining about time zipping by, in my mind’s eye I’m rushing the weeks by without so much as a second thought. Can someone help me to stop doing this?

While Keely @ UnMom is taking a break, I’m rebelling with the help of Stacy Uncorked (thanks Stacy! ) who’s filling in for Keely. This is my time to let go. You’ll feel right at home as you unleash your randomness without a queer look or question to where your madness is leading – anything goes! C’mon on, join the weekly fun with this cool meme! It’s time to cut loose….

  1. I’m so ready for Fall that I made a pumpkin pie last night! Thanks for visiting. I don’t have any advice for your protein intake except for maybe protein shakes, then you don’t have to fill like you are eating so much food. You could make some slim shakes and still fit into the 1000 calorie diet. It might be skim milk, strawberries, blueberries and protein powder but it should fit into your diet nicely. Best of luck!

  2. @Jessalyn…everyone hates going to the dentist. I actually feel bad for them, though coz it’s not them. It’s what they are fixing to do which drives terror in the hearts of most including me. I’ve learned over the years to try to chillax the best I can (Lamaze has come in handy for more than just childbirthing.) Thanks for visiting & have an terrific Tuesday!

  3. I’m so ready for fall. I’m really over the summer allergies and the heat. Bring on the cooler temps and fall activities!
