Hello, fellow BOTBers and fans (those of you who aren’t actively participating, but who vote and love music)! I gotta tell you, ever since I featured this ditty in this BOTB it just got stuck in my head. Does that happen to you? I mean when you put your song choice up for us to vote on?
I appreciate y’all for playing along in September 1 round. This battle showdown proved to be another surprise in how the outcome turned out and if you’ve followed or read how others voted then my announcement won’t shock you.
Grand standing this competition by 13 to 3 (this includes my vote for the popular pick in the tally) and taking the golden mic award is…
Reel & Soul Association!
I couldn’t find a lot on Reel & Soul Association, but I did find some of their music on Spotify. Don’t forget round two battle showdown will come at you on the 15th, so I invite you to come back to get in on the fun. There’s nothing like voicing your opinion when asked, right? You came up with a great battle, girlfriend! Good job!
Thanks, Cherdo. So, glad you enjoyed it and the meeting a new music talent. See you on the 15th!
I’m surprised by this outcome as well. I figured you can’t compete with Sting, even if I didn’t like his version of the song. Looks like others agreed with em. Thanks for finding that gem to listen to.
Jeffrey, I was sure Sting would pull the votes, but that just goes to show how little I know. lol So, glad you enjoyed the RSA introduction!
I blew off blogging for the entire month of August, so missed the voting. I went back listened to the contestants – this is one of my favorite songs – and I can say Reel and Soul would have gotten my vote. Sting did an excellent rendition – as usual – but that girl just hit all the right, sultry notes. And was that a flute for the solo? Just gorgeous.
I swear, I plan to post on the 15th this month. Really, no crossed fingers behind my back 🙂
Reel & Soul’s rendition was great and I’m glad they won. 🙂 Thanks for the introduction!
Love the trumpet poster. As a former oboe player, I concur.
Hi, dear Cathy! I am not surprised by the outcome of your BOTB because I checked back often and noticed that most people favored R&SA. I am very excited about the group and thank you for introducing them. I also enjoyed the video of Thea Gilmore covering the late Percy Sledge on a program that featured Brits performing covers of American soul songs.
Happy Labor Day to you, dear friend Cathy!
Gee, I think I voted for the winners – I’m excited. I hope you’re enjoying aome mountain air for me, Miss Curious. Have a great week, Cathy, dear!
Dixie-Chick-a! Yep, we try to get to the mountains at least once or twice per/week while DH is off from work. It’s nice going through the week with fewer tourists crowding our space. lol
I got confused by Janie’s GFR reference and had to go back to read your post to make sure I was at the right place. Not surprised by the outcome of your Battle, but it was still a good one. I was interesting to hear these versions.

LOL, Lee…I got confused by your comment at first until I read what you saw. I guess Janie meant to post that comment on someone else’s site. I’ve almost done that a time or two when I have multiple blogs pulled up in different tabs.
I’m quite surprised. It’s odd that Grand Funk Railroad started off so strong and then faltered.
Love,
Janie
Hey Janie, are you messing with my head or did you make goof with your comment? lol Just so you’ll know there was no GFR in my last BOTB showdown. 😀
