Welcome Kittens & Dawgs! The last couple of weeks I’ve shared photos taken in April while visiting Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Days before arriving, we had some heavy rainfalls. The muddy pond is evidence that they did not escape the downpours
I’m joining the Wednesday Hodgepodge community this morning to answer the following six questions posed by our host, Joyce. This is an excellent way to get to know your fellow blogger and you’re invited to play along.
- What happens to the mail at your house? Usually, most of the stuff we get goes straight into the trash. We don’t let mail pile up.

Something you always splurge on? Any guilt associated with the splurge? I can’t think of anything I splurge on all the time. Okay, I guess my guilt pleasure is ice cream. Anytime I can try a new ice cream shop that makes their own then I’m all in for it!

There are many, but what are two important questions you think every bride and groom should ask/answer before they plan their walk down the aisle? Q#1, are there any traits or habits that he/she does that I can’t live with? I’ve seen over the years girls in particular going into a relationship with the notion that she can fix something about her guy. Well…that very rarely happens. So, she either needs to accept that truth and live with it or not be so quick to give her heart away. Of course, if they are fixing to walk down the aisle then taking back her heart isn’t going to be so easy. Q#2, You’re fixing to get married. Divorce isn’t an option EVER, are you ready to live forever with this person? In our world of instant this and that, marriage vows aren’t taken as seriously as they did years ago. We need to instill in our kids that marriage is an important institution and it’s nothing to take lightly.

What’s the best advice your father ever gave you? I’m not sure but I’d say it’s something along the line of always listen to God and that’s definitely some purrrty darn good advice!
-
Your favorite movie where a father features heavily in the storyline? I’m going to assume, THE GODFATHER isn’t the kind of father feature film for this question so now that’s knocked off my list then I reckon I’d have to say FATHER OF THE BRIDE I and II. I remember seeing the first one when our daughters were really young. I cried my eyes out. I just couldn’t image that ever happening and then it did! Oh how they grow up so darn fast! I always wanted to scream, “STOP IT ALREADY!” I’m sure that wouldn’t help any.

Insert your own random thought here. Last week’s ‘painters’ inspired playlist influenced today’s art sketch that I call Starry Night Pond. Perhaps, this is where my Moonlight Swans fell in love.
What’s interesting is the above drawing I orginally sketched with a daytime backdrop. Don’t worry that picture is completely intact. Maybe, I’ll share it next week. 😉
[tweetthis]I linked up with Curious as a Cathy for some not-so #WW fun & I invite you join the party! #photography[/tweetthis]

Lisa,
I’m glad you liked it. It’s not quite a van Gogh but it’s mine. 🙂 I’d love to be able to paint, though!
Lovely photo Cathy. Looks so nice and peaceful here 🙂 Thanks for hosting and linking up.
Claire,
On this day, it was especially peaceful with very few visitors, just the way I like it, too!
Can I join even though it’s now Thursday? …although technically I guess in most of the US it’s still Wednesday. I think I will! Love the sketch!
Sure you can join! My linky stays open for a week, so add yours! 😉
wow, love that art sketch — very moody
Thanks, Mary!
Hello Baby Girl, Sorry I’m so late, but we went out all day today. We went shopping, lunch & came home & barbecued… well hubby barbecued. He made me dinner! Isn’t that fantastic and he don’t cook! ~hehehe~ Burgers were great too & some Nacho Bugles with it and a big cold glass of milk. For a non-cook I’d say that’s pretty darn good. He felt bad he didn’t get me anything because he still hasn’t found a job yet. If you have an extra prayer or two layin’ around could you send them Dave’s way to help find him a job??/ Sure would appreciate it. THANKS HUN…. HUGS
Marie,
Well…I think your anniversary dinner sounds lovely and spending time with the one you love trumps everything else. I certainly will keep Dave in prayer. God has just the right job for him, sometimes it just takes time. Now, I want a cheeseburger!
Love the advice from your father, great photo and drawing!
Mimi,
Yep, you can’t go wrong with giving your kid or anyone that kind of advice!
Smart advice from your dad, and great picture and drawing!
We don’t let our mail pile up either. It doesn’t take long to have a pile of stuff that needs to be in the recycle bin.
I love I ice cream too. It’s my guilty pleasure.
Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Big hugs. ♥
Sandee,
Anything that needs disposing of has a way of accumulating fast. We had ice cream last night after dinner. Yum was it good! I think I could eat ice cream for breakfast. 😀
Great list of questions, so down to earth. I kept saying, MeToo! Mail goes in the trash (or into a pile no one ever looks at). Guilty pleasure–books. Dad’s advice–Hmm… Love getting to know you better, Cathy!
Jacqui,
Thanks for taking the time to want to get to know me better! 😉
Beautiful water shot ~ lovely!
Happy Midweek to you,

Very beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing and I hope that you have a wonderful rest of the week.
Patrick,
Thanks for joining my linky party. 🙂 I hope you have a good rest of the week, as well, my friend!
Nice sketch and always nice to learn more about you. I love the Father if the Bride movies, especially the first one. I like The Godfather too 🙂
Ellen,
I’m glad you like the sketch. The first FotB is my favorite, too. Oh, boy how I cried!
such a beautiful peaceful scene- is that a swan?
Yes, that’s a swan. If you clicked on the link Moonlight Swan, then you’ll see a close up of the same swan. Those things are big! 🙂 Thanks for visiting.
Your drawing is hauntingly beautiful; kinda foreboding. I have the X-Files opening theme playing in my head!
Veronica,
Thanks for the return visit and lovely words, but I gotta know, did my drawing prompt the X-Files theme song to play in your head? 🙂
It certainly did, Cathy!
Veronica,
I hope that was a good thing to happen, then. 😬
Nice photo Cathy Hyde Park is down the road from me in London the ducks in there drive me quackers 🙂
I liked your sketch would be interesting to see the daytime backdrop version 🙂
Have a qucktastic week 🙂
Steve,
Oh, don’t blame the ducks for you being quackers! lol I will work in the daytime sketch soon. Have a good day and thanks for dropping by, my friend!
That lake looks so peaceful.
Haddock,
This lovely little spot is not only peaceful but picturesque. I wished the pond wasn’t muddy, though. That’s alright, I can photograph it again on our next visit. Thankfully, we live close enough for our return anytime. Thanks for dropping by for a visit.
