I’m ushering in the new year with another edition of my Beatles Greatest Hits series. Today’s feature song is the 1967 hit, “Hello, Goodbye“, a song written through an exercise of word association. I came across a half a dozen versions of the song to consider in this battle showdown, most sounded too much like the original. Not that that’s a bad thing but honestly I wanted something a little more and so I settled on two acts I felt put their own signature spin on “Hello, Goodbye”.
First is Jump 5 (1999-2007), an American Christian pop band . I have a vague remembrance of this band perhaps from my daughters’ music library in the early years of the millennium. Please turn your attention to contender #1.

I’ll go out on limb in saying the next band needs no introduction, the American pop group, Jonas Brothers. Please listen now to contender #2!
These bands are different from the classic original. Which group did it better, Jump 5 or Jonas Brothers? Hey, I just noticed both groups start with “J”. How cool is that?

New year’s often mean changes. For 2024, my plan is to scale back to doing only the 1st of the month battles. I may do this all year or if catch my second wind, then I may decide to jump back in for both battles. My goal for the new year is try to spend less time blogging and more time doing other things. I need to reset my energy and enthusiasm.

I nearly missed this Battle because I never saw it pop up on my blog’s sidebar. Glad I scrolled down a bit on your blog.
I thought both versions were pretty good, but Jump 5 was just a tad too “Techno-sounding” for my tastes, so I am voting for the harder rocking version by THE JONAS BROS.
Funny thing is that as you are about to bypass the mid-month BOTB contests, I am suddenly seriously thinking about doing mid-month Battles again.

Great song choice for the first of a new year! It’s one of the few songs by the Beatles that I really really liked. I felt like the Jonas boys were trying too hard – not such a bad thing – however, I liked Jump 5 better

As a Beatles fan from way back, I can’t honestly say either of these covers attracted me. That said, I thought The Jonas Brothers version was somewhat better, so I’ll vote for them.
