Beach Baby Bums #FlashbackFriday

Cathy, age 2

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! This week has been a full, hectic one with doctor appointment after another. You can put your mind at ease, though. Nothing is wrong! It’s just routine physical time, followed by a precautionary bone density scan ordered by Dr. L, and my quarterly Sottopelle inserts (HRT). I’m so ready for the weekend and the promise of Mr. Blue Skies in tomorrow’s forecast. Yay!

Today’s Flashback Friday memory is of three beach baby bums playing in the sand.

I used my 35mm Nikon point n’ shoot camera of my little kittens and dawg in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina May 1997

We started a tradition when DD#1 turned 3 by going to Myrtle Beach for a mini family vacation for her birthday, which stuck with each kiddie. In the above photo we are on the east coast shore celebrating DS’s 3rd bday in early May. I remember it was unseasonably cool and rained most of the weekend, but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the beach.

Today, I  celebrate the small things in my life.

  • I celebrate the good news of my 1st cousin, Betty Jo, coming through her double mastectomy with flying colors earlier this week (see gofundme button is right side menu) ~ cancer free and ready for healing to begin.
  • I celebrate my own good health. I have a few hiccups, but for 53 I count my blessings every day that I’m active, fit, and over-all feel great!
  • I celebrate DH replacing the oven thermostat. Now, I can bake some biscuits for him.
  • I celebrate the first day of spring. Yay! I can’t wait to get outdoors to enjoy nature’s rebirth and feel the sun kiss my cheeks!
  • I celebrate getting almost 9-hours of sleep last night.

What are you celebrating?

Let’s celebrate making new friends together and we can begin by joining Friendship Friday and Follow Who? Social-Weekend blog hops. Thanks for visiting. Don’t forget to stop by tomorrow for a little boogie session with Saturday Songsuasion!

  1. So, so ready for Spring, here. That’s good to hear your cousin is doing great and cancer free. I love Myrtle Beach – nice photo too. Good celebrations, Cathy. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Everyone is ready for Spring. It was gorgeous yesterday and I thought about you a little since we were in western NC visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have springtastic week! 😉

  2. I’m glad to hear the doctors appointments were just checkups. The pic is so cute! I remember playing in the sand at the beach growing up. It was wonderful. That’s great news about your cousin. I hope she recovers quickly. It must have been hard to cook with no thermostat – yay for handy husbands and for 9 hours sleep. Wow, could I use that right about now…

  3. I’m with you on the sleep celebration. After a difficult week starting with illness and then prepping for my colonoscopy which meant a night with virtually no sleep, last night I had one of the most restful sleeps I’ve had in a long time.

Myrtle Beach is one of the go-to vacation destinations for a lot of folks in East Tennessee. I’ve never been there for a vacation, but I’ve been there a number of times to work.

    1. I hope you’re getting a more restful nights sleep now the awful stuff is behind you (no pun intended). Tonight won’t be so good for me, as I’m doing the whole colon prep. After tomorrow, I’ll be good, though. lol Yeah, Myrtle Beach is the hot spot for many folks in the east. We’ve been three times with our kids. I would like to go back again just the two of us sometime. Have a fabulous week!
