Backcountry skiing to shipwreck

In recent days for the first time I feel the need to reset how I do things in Blogosphere.  Trying to keep up with the various blog hops is draining my time and sanity (what little I have).  I really wanted to take part in Rain’s art date “Winter Sports” prompt this week.  I started a sketch but didn’t have time to finish it.  Sometime over the next few weeks I plan to share it.  Not wanting to bail completely, I found a cool video of backcountry skiing.  This is the closest I’ll ever come to skiing from the comfort of my chair.

Isn’t that thrilling?  It amazes me to watch these dare devils ski down a mountain face onto the powder.  Snow skiing is fascinating but it’s something I’ll never do.  I don’t want a broken leg, arm, or neck, plus I’m a scaredy Cathy.

I’m not going to be totally artless today, I decided to showcase a new Procreate design from my A2Z Little Mermaid Art Sketch (LMAS) series, shipWreck.

I’m nearly completed colorizing my Little Mermaid Art Sketch series illustrations!

I’m super excited I’ve nearly brought all of my 2019 LMAS to life in living color.  There are only two remaining illustrations to do and they’ll be completed.  Keep your fingers crossed that I can cross this task off my list soon. 😉

Please, leave a message in comments so I’ll know to come by your place and thank you for making me a part of your day.   This is CAAC signing off, please join me tomorrow for my new edition of Friday Fun Stuff.  Have a doodletastic day! X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. Hell, No!!!! OMG!!!! My mouth was agape most of the time watching this and I am in fear for these wackadoodles. I can’t believe the stunts and where they ski..in such small spots. They could trigger an avalanche but i bet they are aware of this…at least I hope so. I bet they could be used as stuntmen for some spy film. I am thinking about Sonny Bono, one of the Kennedy troops who died a few years back and, just this past weekend, some golf guy or someone sports who died in a skiing incident in Switzerland.
I love your sketch and the beautiful blues you created here. I wish I could find some treasure:)

  2. You know how I love your artwork. Fabulous.

That skiing video is a heart stopper. I’ll pass on skiing. At my age it would be most dangerous. Dare devils indeed.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  3. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thursday Art Date with Rain, dear friend!

When it comes to an extreme sport like backcountry skiing, I don’t blame you for being a scaredy Cathy. I’d be one, too. However, it’s fun to get a vicarious rush of adrenaline and get our hearts pumping for the day watching the helmet cam footage as those brave athletes plunge down nearly vertical mountain cliffs, making the white powder fly. I’d be afraid of triggering an avalanche. Every time I see thrilling sequences like those, I remember poor Sonny Bono who skied into a tree and was killed.

As you well know, one of my favorite features of CAAC is when you display your artwork. I admire today’s exhibit from your Little Mermaid Art Sketch series showing a shipwreck. The vessel rests on the ocean floor as a hammerhead shark swims in the background. I wonder if a lucky diver will come along and find that treasure chest. I also like the way you rendered the vegetation growing on the sea bottom. Yessum, it is quite an achievement that you have brought back In Living Color nearly all of your Little Mermaid sketches from the 2019 A to Z.

I just published a new post this morning. if you can spare some time to visit, I’d love to have you over. I will be back here tamale for some Friday Funnies/Sillies. Have a wonderful and Thankful Thursday, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I also think of an avalanche being triggered by such extreme snow skiing ventures. In fact, I’ve seen some footage where the skiers are skiing for their life to escape being covered by the wave of snow chasing after them. Very scary indeed! Oh yeah, poor Sonny Bono. I do recall that tragedy. How sad! Thank you for your sweet words of praise on my latest reinvented illustration from my LMAS series. Also, thanks for giving me the heads up on your new post. I’m heading that way now!
