Autumn

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus

The Awww Mondays picture reminded me that back in the summer, our security camera captured a mama raccoon and her 5 babies on our porch early one morning snooping around for food but there was none to be found.  It was really cute, too.  We’ve had a couple of grown raccoons to visit but this was the first to see babies. 🙂

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me. This week’s theme is whatever music moves you!

While digging around for music last week the idea to use an artist/band with “harvest” in the name lead me down a rabbit hole using a different keyword, “autumn” when I came across featured artist Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch & Autumn Kings on “Hole In My Heart“. I sampled other songs but none caught my ear quite like this one. However, another band did. The Dutch female front gothic metal band, Autumn “Scarecrow”. This isn’t my normal genre but I enjoyed the song. I found out “Scarecrow” is from their 2011 Cold Comfort album which led me to build a playlist. Wiki listed 11 song titles and I found all but one “Changes For The Bitter”. I find it a nice break to listen to something I wouldn’t otherwise listen to and I hope you feel the same, just press play to enjoy the next 60 minutes of non-stop music with Autumn, Cold Comfort playlist!

Cold Comfort tracks: 1. The Scarecrow 2. Cold Comfort 3. Black Stars In a Blue Sky 4. Retrospect 5. Alloy 6. End of Sorrow 7. Naeon 8.Truth Be Told (Exhale) 9. The Venamoured 10. The Mute (Inhale)

Hopefully things in my life will calm a bit. I’ve been a bit crazy since March with this or that, vacation and ending with our son’s wedding this past weekend. Oops! *smack forehead* Bad timing… the holidays are on the loom. *roll eyes* Okay, I will have to wait until the new year to calm down.

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

4M design by Cathy Kennedy

Unless volunteers sign up to co-host in the new year, I thought we’d try for-going this formality but let’s keep a theme going using y’alls suggestions.  That being said, put your thinking caps on and send in your music prompts right away.  I’ll be sure to credit every person who throws something this way.  Check back mid-week as I continue to share with you photos from our Maine vacation.  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, CathySaveSave

  1. Enjoyable easy listening for a mellow afternoon. Our leaves are turning more every day here in the Southern Tier of New York; we’ve taken fall foliage drives each of the last four days. Tomorrow is supposed to be 90% chance of rain and strong winds and we will probably get a freeze early next week. I enjoyed the playlist – Truth be Told was my favorite. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Alana,

We want to go to the mountains to see the colors. I’m sure the higher elevations are seeing more change. We’re also expected to drop down to freezing or below on Tuesday night next week. I’m not looking forward to the first major cold snap. It’s all happening way too fast to suit me. I’m delighted you enjoyed the playlist, my friend.

  2. What a sweet family you had visiting you, CK, so awwdorable. We hope they come back, we, as kittens, always do, so maybe they will too😸 Granny has never heard of that band. She was listening to their mewsic and it’s a kind she really loves, especially in her younger years (when she was already old…MOL) We especially liked the Naeon song of this Comfort Cold track. We just listened also to the songs of their first album, When lust evokes the curse of 2002, but it didn’t ring a bell at all, but the mewsic was pawsome too😺 We like octobers too, but only when the sun shines bright😺Hope you had a wonderful wedding and here are some Double Pawkisses (we learnt to give them from our Angel Binky and purromissed to continue them for all of our bloggie furriends) for a much calmer time ahead, especially for you🐾😽💞
Ps We, Peachy and Stippie, oh, and Granny too, are working on our mewsic bloggie, so we’ll be back for our linky later🐾😽💞

    1. Peachy & Stippie,

I’m glad I picked mewsic Granny likes. Mewsic is good medicine for the soul and purrsonally it’s the only kind I like best. What doctors give you tastes awful. Our son’s wedding was beautiful. His bride looked lovely. She’s a sweetheart! We are looking forward to calmer days but oh my the holidays will be here before we know it. This year is flying off the window. I’m happy to know Granny is working on her mewsic post. It’ll be great fun as always to have her with you two on the dance floor. Thanks for dropping by for a visit. Pawkisses back to you both! 🐾😽💞

  3. Awww on the raccoons. They are cute.

Love your playlist. I love autumn.

I need to work on my MMMM for next month. I’ll get with you shortly.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I love the fall time of the year, too. It’s soooo nice. This year, the colors are a bit early. DH disagrees but the way I remember past years is in the lower elevations we don’t see a lot until the end of the month and sometimes holding off til early November. It makes me wonder what kind of winter we will have. Next Tuesday night our forecast low is 32º. Brrr, that’s chilly! I’m not ready for the cold!!

You sent me a couple of music prompts for next month. I have those on my 4M page. If you want to expand or change them, just let me know. 🙂

    2. These gals aren’t bad and, I may not buy their cd, I didn’t mind listening to them. They have a different style to them…ethereal, rock and some celtic fir good measure. I love October leaves…so beautiful

      1. Birgit,

On the drive to our son’s wedding on Saturday, I noticed how much the leaves have changed since within a week’s time. It seems we normally don’t get too much change in the lower elevations until later in the month, even early November and this year the color has arrived early. It really made for a pretty drive. Thanks for swinging by to enjoy this week’s music, my friend.

  4. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend!

Awww… those little coons are cute, but I know better than to go smoochin’ on them. I don’t wanna get rabies. They remind me of the critters that used to visit our house. We used to have stray cats hanging around our property and we put food out for them, but it drew raccoons. It took us a couple of years to discourage them to the point that they went someplace else to dine. We no longer have stay cats out there either, just the black one we took in two years ago and made our pet – our Boots aka “Bootsie-Wootsie.”

I enjoyed clicking over and listening to Trevor McNevan on “Hole In My Heart.” My ears thrive on that band’s dense sound wall, impassioned vocals and aggressive rapping. I am also fond of female-fronted Euro Goth metal bands, and your discovery, Autumn, delivers the goods. I applaud you for deviating from your normal mewsical diet and offering the refreshing sound of Autumn. If you break it down, on most tracks they sound like Karen Carpenter backed by metal musicians. It’s a pleasing combination, but not quite hard and heavy enough to satisfy my metal cravings. In other words, I doubt that I would add their tuneage to my personal collection,

Yessum, if we are waiting for things to calm down in our lives, we might have a long wait. We do what we can do. No rest for the wicked, etc. The frantic weeks of the year-end holiday season will soon be upon us. Get your shopping done early! 🙂

I hope this day finds you and DH basking in the afterglow of your son’s wedding and that great joy has spread throughout your family including the newlyweds. I have an all-female concert of my own running right now at Shady’s Place – the best girl group you NEVER heard – and hope you can stop by at some point.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Feeding outdoor animals attract the kind you want and the kind you don’t. I’ve heard that raccoons will get into pet food left. Sounds like easy food gathering for them. They are clever animals. One morning many years ago, our son went to take the trash to the curb on morning and found an adult raccoon lifting our trash bin lid. At the time, we used a couple of those large outdoor storage boxes meant for patio furniture to keep trash in because it’s easy for someone short, like me, to get things in and out of. Anyway, I thought that was really interesting how the raccoon would try to get to our garbage and sometimes they’d tear the bags open to get what they could out.

I’m happy to stir the music pot a bit and am glad you enjoyed the new selection. The female lead singer for Autumn is Marjan Welman. I’m not sure if I detected Karen Carpenter but at times she reminds me a little of Amy Lee founder and vocalist of Evanescence. I will have to play the set of songs again. It’s been awhile since I pulled this post together. 🙂

You’re right there’s no rest for the wicked as the saying goes. I can’t believe how quickly this year is disappearing on us. It’s been a wild one but these last few weeks have been some of the best ones with our vacation and then our son’s wedding. Yes, we’re still riding the joyous waves of happiness. Everything was beautiful. Our son and his bride did a fantastic job! One of the most memorable things is when it came time for the bride to recite the vows, she giggled through them. That was just great. It made me smile even more through the tears.

I definitely hope life calms down for y’all. Things in Florida have been more than bumpy with Ian sweeping across the state. I haven’t followed the weather too closely since then with everything going on but I do remember you were concerned about a couple of systems. Hopefully those weren’t any problem for you all.

Thanks for dropping in for a visit, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
