Atttention Moms of Young Children

Posted on March 14, 2011

I’m working on two new children’s stories for early readers and looking for mothers with young ones ages 5-10 who may help by refreshing my memory. Are you interested? If so, lets talk about my first story.  This book will be about a little girl loosing her first tooth.  The working title is “What’s Happening to My Teeth?”

  • What was your child’s first reaction to his/her wiggly tooth?
  • Did he/she try to pull it out?
  • How long was it before it finally fell out or had to be helped out?
  • Did you child put her/his tooth under her/his pillow for the Tooth Fairy?
  • What does the Tooth Fairy leave at your house?
  • Do you like the working title of my book?
  • Would this be a story your children would find interesting?

Let me say, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions and feel free to add any comments you want, either on my blog or via email.

Blessings to you!

My memory is good and fresh on this one! We’re on loose tooth #2 right now!

She was super excited and had to call me because she was at her grandma’s house.

She didn’t try to pull it out but she sure wiggled it ALL the time!

After a couple of days, she asked me to sit and wiggle it for her. Tooth was out in about 30 minutes. The second tooth is more stubborn and doesn’t want to give! LOL

She puts hers in a little bag on her bedpost. She was worried that she’d lose it under her pillow.

Tooth fairy gives $1 in our house. She was rather upset that she only got that because some of her friends get toys. I explained that there are many tooth fairies and each one has a set gift. Once I reminded her she could have had the quarter fairy, she was all good!

    Title is good.

    I think she’d love it!

@Margaret…Absolutely, when a child’s first tooth shows signs of wiggling everyone is full of anticipation for it to come out. I recall the excitement when our oldest lost her firt tooth and then how adorable she looked with her two front teeth missing. Thanks for stopping by to share in your enthusiasm for my new book I’m writing.

What a great idea for a story. I know kids are super excited when that first tooth starts to loosen. They mess with it constantly to help it along. An adult would be devastated, yet a child can’t wait to have that revealing gab in their mouth. They show it to anyone who’ll stop long enough to look. Then under the pillow it goes–for money in our house–to be taken into the tooth fairy’s possession (proud papa and mama). What an exciting time in a child’s life!

@Danielle…thank you for your comments. I appreciate the honesty in how you felt about the title. This will give me something to stew on.

I was always so afraid our children would swallow their wiggly teeth, but somehow they managed to not do it and we were able to place it beneath their pillows. To this day, I still have some of the little teeth safe in their baby stuff.=D

When my son’s tooth as loose, the entire household was excited! My daughter almost 5 longs for her to become loose. Yes, my son wiggled his tooth from time to time, as it was interesting and felt funny.

I think it was about a week from wiggliness to falling out with tooth #1 but tooth #2 we noticed was loose much earlier and it took longer. Yes, My son definately wanted to put his tooth under the pillow. However (both times, both teeth) he either swallowed them or lost them, but somehow she knew.

The tooth fairy left a gift and some coins under the pillow (the gift was a dry erase magnet with markers)

The title, I am not crazy about but yes my kids would love the story.
