Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, last year I drew an owl for today’s prompt but I couldn’t resist repeating the subject as inspiration struck when I came across a big-eyed owl image on Google and knowing DD#1 has a thing for owls I decided to give it a try. I knew she’d get a kick out of it and it would be fun to share this whimiscal little creature for you in this month’s alphabet challenge.
What words ‘O’ words would you use to describe my sketch, Outrageous, Outstanding, Okay, or Oops? Maybe you have a better ‘O’ word outside these options.
[tweetthis]Visit Curious as a Cathy for a look at her iPad #art sketch for the letter prompt “O” is for a big-eyed, #OWL! #atozchallenge #owlcity #music[/tweetthis]
Have a listen to the American electropop band, Owl City with this popular YouTube playlist.

Mary (Cactus Dreams)
What an ADORABLE owl!! 🙂
Give a hoot, don’t pollute? Who could resist a big-eyed owl on the cusp of Earth Day?
O for outstanding – and the textures look great! Love the cat like eyes!
Cathy, I LOVE the big-eyed owl. That is soooooo cute! I tweeted it. Couldn’t resist. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I’ll be visiting you again!
Oooohhh…so cute, I want to pick up Oscar the Owl and hug him. Great drawing!
Birgit,
Oscar the Owl, now that’s a good name. That’s actually my daddy’s name. 🙂 Thanks for naming him for me.
Super cute! I should try this ipad art thing.
Linda,
Yes, if you like to doodle then this is a neat piece of technology to have for the job. I like the convenience of not having to have pencils and sketch pads all over the place all the time. I do like using a real sketch pad & graphite, though. It’s satisfying to feel a pencil glide over the page but the iPad…well…is neatly contained and super fun! 🙂
That is the cutest little owl ever.
How about, “Oh, he’s precious!”
Mimi,
Yes definitely oh so precious!
Love your owl… he looks kinda sad though… but oh so cute!!! Thanks for sharing and I loved the Legend of the Guardians it was a great movie. My grandchildren and I watch it all the time. Love your picture though. Do you remember for the longest time they came out with animals & dolls with big cute sad eyes? That’s what your owl reminds me of. I never heard your tune before, but it’s really cute and easy listening! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day my friend. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and great “O” day for you!
Marie,
Big eyes are sad but sooo adorable. You gotta love anything that has big-eyes like this little owl. It makes you want to wrap your arms around it to make it feel better. Thanks for hopping over, my friend.
So sweet!
Martha,
Thanks and it’s great seeing you today!
Owls are a good choice!
Kathe,
I think so…I mean I sketched one two years in a row. 🙂
I think next to Koala’s, Owls are my favorite creature. Your drawing is great. Love the big eyes.
Janet,
Hmmm, I need to sketch a koala. Thanks for the inspiration! I have a koala stuffed animal that DH got me while we dated. Can you believe that? lol I named him KoalaBear. Isn’t that original? lol
I’d love to see a koala sketched by you. KoalaBear is a perfect name 🙂
Janet,
Whenever I share my koala sketch I’ll try to let you know. 🙂
What an adorable owl and I love the owlish mewsic that you selected to go with it. Owls are so cool, which by coincidence, I used an owl image in my poetic contribution to the Go Dog Go Cafe. https://godoggocafe.com/2018/04/17/thinking/
Eugenia,
Ahh, thanks for the mention of your poem. I will certainly check it out in a moment and I appreciate your kind words.
What a cute sketch. You’re good at this.
Loved the video. Not heard it before today.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
Sandee,
I had fun sketching the little guy, too. He is rather cute. I love drawing big eyes!
That owl is a keeper, Cathy. Love him!
Jacqui,
Yes, I think so, too. 🙂
Thank you for introducing me to Owl City. I like the mellow sound – and both videos – a great fit for your post. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned from other bloggers in the past few weeks by doing this challenge!

Kimberly,
The A2Z challenge is a great way gain bit and pieces about bloggers and topics. It’s a wonderful community where everyone comes together to share with one big family. Thanks for dropping in for a visit. I’m heading your way next.
Ooglie-eyed, perhaps! Great sketch. And that song was a family favorite when it first came out.
Hope you’re having a fun A-to-Z!

Thanks for visiting today, Colin. It’s nice seeing a new viewer drop off during the challenge. Now, I’m off to check out your niche!
I used a cut by Owl City a few years ago for a BOTB post. They have a pleasant sound–not cutting edge, but nice to listen to.

Lee,
I couldn’t think of how I knew Owl City until I noticed the song ‘Good Times’ they do with Carly Rae Jepsen and that’s how I know them. 🙂 Hmm, I might remind your BoTB from a few years ago but I can’t swear to it. Thanks for stopping by, my friend.
That owl looks like a cutie pie! And I love the Fireflies song 🙂
Ronel visiting from the A-Z Challenge. Latest post at Ronel the Mythmaker
Ronel,
Thanks and ‘Fireflies’ is fun sound little ditty. I appreciate the revisit, my friend!
Nice going, Cathy! “Planet of the Owls,” for sure, and there is talk of a possible sequel. I have always loved owls. My parents inherited a creepy stuffed/mounted owl which they kept in our attic. I used to go up in the attic and examine it, and we often brought it down to use as a prop/decoration at Halloween.
Have a super day, dear friend!
Tom,
Some owls can be scary, especially in the dark. 🙂
Hi, Cathy!
Happy “O” day to you, dear friend!
I think your owl is outstanding! Human or animal, large eyes are cute and compelling. They draw you in. That little owl of yours is huggable.
As I listened to the songs of Adam Young’s Owl City, it Occurred to me (give me credit for another “O” word) that his music is well suited for the soundtracks of children’s motion pictures. I did some research and found that Owl City songs have indeed been used in several animated films for children including Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, Wreck-It Ralph, The Croods and The Smurfs 2.
You should consider giving DD#1 gifts for her new baby that are owl themed, like a blanket or a T-shirt. I’m sure she would love that.
Have a wonderful day, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
You deserve an ovation with your suggestion for owl-themed baby paraphernalia for DD#1 little bundle. I’ll certainly keep that in mind. Owl City sounded familiar to me before yesterday’s discovery but I’m not sure why. One of my favorite tunes on this playlist is ‘Vanilla Twilight’. That’s an interesting tidbit that their mewsic has been used in children animations. I think of the ones you mentioned the only one I know by name only is Legend of the Guardians. That being said, I had to dash off to YouTube to watch the trailer and when I learned it fits purrfectly with my sketch I decided to share it with all below….
Thanks for tossing a trail of crumbs for me to follow in this discovery, my friend. 🙂
