I haven’t managed time too well lately. We were out of town last weekend, I’ll share a little more about that in my Thankful segment, and we’re planning another weekend away in a few weeks. This is partly to blame for why I feel like a chicken without a head. Instead of skipping TAD with Rain’s Kitchen & Garden, I’m veering off course since I was unable to create new artwork for her previous two week’s themes. Maybe, I’ll find time to go back to pick up them. I hope you don’t mind the artwork do-overs to painting-like image recreations.
The first Procreate drawing, I thought I shared in a past post but I can’t seem to locate the drawing on my site. It doesn’t mean that I didn’t. It just means I can’t find it. I could’ve uploaded it with a different file name from what’s on my computer. This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve done this. Anyway, I will pretend that this is a brand new unveiling (and maybe it is) of A Walk In The Park.
For Easter, I used an Procreate drawing from a few years ago. I definitely shared the original of this make over. I worked the colors in my Procreate design a bit, then I pushed my final sketch through Brushstrokes turning my drawing into a painting. Interestingly, the brushstroke effect I picked for it is called Illustrated. I love how it has an almost a comic appearance with the lines and colors more pronounced. The caption was added using Pixelmator Pro. I sent my revamped Easter greetings as a text message to our children.
Just so you’ll know, it’s entirely possible I may not have a chance to share my art in two weeks. I’m busy doing other things, as I mentioned and it leaves me with little time to leisurely draw. Everything will fall back in order and before you know it, I’ll be back ready to put up my masterpieces 😅 for you again.
I’m thankful for our weekend get-away. Last Friday, we spent the night in Greensboro, NC. We were there so that we could go to the Petty Fest event the next day. Saturday morning, we got up before the sun to head to Randleman for the event. The reason for the early rise and shine was they handed out 100 wristbands to meet Richard and Kyle Petty. At which time you could get their autographs. I was certain we wouldn’t be one of the 100 but we got in line when the crowd was very small and fortunate to get them at 9am. This makes for a double thankful. 😉 It was a chilly start and breezier than I wanted but as the morning went on it developed into a gorgeous day. The forecast called for rain and it did for a brief period rain on us as we traveled on Friday. It cleared up by the time we got to Statesville, though. The rest of the evening and on Saturday we had a lot of blue skies. So, now that gives me a triple thankful! 😉
DH got a Richard Petty hero card autographed which we picked up at Legacy Motor Club in Statesville on our way and at Petty Fest he bought me t-shirt in the museum gift shop that I got the boys to sign. They were just as nice as can be! I hope to share more photos soon. It’s a blessing to step away from life’s normal routine to do fun stuff like this and while I’m not a Nascar fan I have admiration for many of the drivers, as well as their loyal followers who as a collective group seem like an awesome bunch.
I’ll be back with Monday’s Music Moves Me where you’ll find me boogieing on the dance floor. If you music to share or just a music lover then this is the party for you, so come join the fun. This is CAAC signing off, have a doodletastic day! X💋, Cathy

Hey Cathy, I can’t comment on your blog today, but wanted to say that I had to look up Richard and Kyle Petty, what fun that you got an autograph and photo! I love your Walk In The Park with the brushstrokes! ☺ It somehow made her dress look a little more full!
Sounds like fun and you are entitled to some fun even if it makes you miss some of our posts … It’s not every day you get to meet a “hero” in the flesh. Cute pictures but I think that couple with Richard and Kyle would not be happy with their faces if they saw them. Yes, you have lots of thankfuls … and your Easter paintings are about things you have to be thankful for. Glad to have you here whenever you can make it Cathy, you always make me smile.

Andrea,
A black rectangular shape might have been better. They aren’t public figures so I didn’t know how they’d feel to find their picture on the Internet. 🙂 It was truly a lot of fun to meet Richard and Kyle Petty. It’s not every day you get a chance like this, so I’m glad we had the opportunity. Thanks for visiting, my dear!
Your art is always lovely, Cathy, and good for you for taking some time to enjoy yourself.
Thanks, Darlin’ you’re so kind! We really did have a nice time away. It is good to enjoy ourselves, something we couldn’t do much of while our kids were young but now it’s just the two of us. 🙂
My pleasure, Cathy!
That sounds like a fun trip. It’s always fun to get away, and I’m glad you shared that photo with Richard Petty. Hope you have some time this week and enjoy your next get away. hugs-Erika
Erika,
It was such an honor to meet the King of Nascar. Richard Petty is ever bit likable as I thought he’d be in person. Kyle was very nice, too. We hope to do this again. 🙂
Your art is always so nice. WOW, Petty Fest sounds like a fun time. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Brain,
The thing about Petty Fest is you don’t have to be a huge Nascar fan. I’m not but it was a thrill to meet Richard Petty and his son, Kyle. 🙂
It sounds like you had a good time, and i always enjoy your drawings.
Mimi,
We had a nice time. I’m glad we got to attend. Thanks for visiting. I’m always delighted to read when you and others like my art. 🙂
Nice job on the drawings. Glad you got to have a getaway. XO
Ellen,
Thanks for popping by. Weekend trips away are rare. It was really nice to do.
Your Easter card rocks!
Thanks, Debra! I’m glad you like it. 🙂
Nice art Kathy.
Thanks, Christine! 😊
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Thursday Art Date With Rain, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice week.
I enjoyed gazing at your Artwork Do-Over transformations. When it comes to your artwork, I have a pretty good memory, and I do not remember seeing the image of the young woman taking A Walk In the Park published here at CAAC. I clicked to enlarge, smiled at the first version, and smiled even more as I advanced to the Brushstrokes creation. The colors are glorious, and the gown clad woman taking a stroll in the picturesque park is an enchanting scene.
I do remember the Jesus drawing from three years ago, and love the effect produced by Brushstrokes and the pretty font you selected for the caption. I’m sure you children were overjoyed to receive this colorful and inspiring art piece at Easter time.
I also enjoyed your Thankful Thursday segment describing your weekend trip to Greensboro. How exciting that you had the opportunity to meet father and son NASCAR racing legends Richard and Kyle Petty and pose for pictures with them. There are great benefits to being an Early Bird! 🙂 I’m delighted to learn that the weather for your weekend getaway was mostly gorgeous. It’s cool that you went home with an autographed T-shirt to remember your fun weekend trip across state lines.
Thanks for posting the country rock song “Bringing Back The Sunshine.” I like it!
Enjoy your Thursday and have a super weekend, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back over to see you for your 4M dance party. That day, I will have a new post of my own published and hope you can swing by. Take care, dear friend!
