Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, thanks for sticking with me this month for the A2Z Art Sketching Through the Alphabet! This isn’t the first time I’ve shared Dan’s song “Treehouses” and it’s a purrfect fit for today’s letter prompt, “T”.

For as long as I remember I always wanted a treehouse. How about you? Would you like to have one like this?

Did you have a treehouse or do you know someone who has one? Have you ever stayed in a treehouse on vacation?

Enchanted Treehouse Immediate Music

 

Hopefully, what I share with you every day will encourage you to do something that interests you that you’ve long put off because like me you just don’t think you can. My advice is, just do it! Maybe, you’ll be surprised. I know I was! 🙂

  1. I always wanted a tree house when I was little. At one point I tried to build one myself, but none of the trees in our yard were shaped right. I’d love to play in this tree house, maybe even start an exclusive club ;-).

    1. Emily, I like the idea of a treehouse but climbing high off the ground would be a trick as it creeps me out just a bit. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.

  6. I wish I had a treehouse even til today! I wanted one when I was little and the closest thing to a treehouse we ever got was putting clothespin a blanket to the railings on the front porch. That was our little tent and we played dolls under there and my brother and I would bomb each other with stuff too! It was really fun, but we lived in the city (Chicago) and there were no trees around to build any treehouses. There’s one two doors away from us though. I can see it from our bedroom window. It’s awesome. 🙂 Your pics are superb!!!

      Ahh, that’s too bad! I definitely grew up in a place where there were plenty of trees. The closest I came was climbing in some but I never climbed to high because height made my head swim. We often explored the hills surrounding our homes and we kids found an old shed on the backside of someone property that wasn’t used so we set up our clubhouse in it. Now when I think about that, God surely had His hands on us because it was a great place for snakes and poisonous spiders to live. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!

    1. I’ve heard of places, usually exotic places, boasting about treehouse accommodations and I admit I’m partially allured by the idea but just as long as I don’t have to fight bugs or have to worry about wild animals. 🙂 Thank you for visiting.

  8. I lived in Chicago (actually in the city, not the suburbs) and there weren’t enough trees to build a treehouse in. There was a kids’ show called “Tree Top House,” though, a kind of “Romper Room” set in a big tree. When they put me in day care because they were afraid I’d set the house on fire (again–long story), they tried to convince me the school was set atop a tree. It wasn’t, of course, and I remember refusing to go one day because they lied to me. I was 4 going on 5…

      I feel for kids who grow up in the city and never experiencing nature like we did and still do. But, I guess it’s a matter of what you’re used to or only know. I like your recollections of day care. The lie sounds pretty good. Too bad you didn’t fall for it, though. I bet you were one of those kids you couldn’t bribe with candy very easily, huh? 😀

  11. Fun treehouse. I never had a treehouse., just climbed trees instead. Another T could be toast , as part of breakfast. sorry my brain is struggling to find T objects this morning.

Hi Cathy – I’d have loved to have a treehouse … but we just climbed trees instead … I have some friends who have a tree house – which is still put to good use … by friends staying for parties, the adult kids still using … me I pinch a bed in the house … creature comforts needed … the drawing is lovely – lots of ideas there … cheers Hilary

  14. Awesome sketch!!! I’ve never had a treehouse, but they have some fancy ones you can visit, I know. I assume there’s a hotel where you stay in treehouses somewhere in America?

      1. Yes, a friend and I built the treehouse but it was hideous! The walls were made out of sheets, so it could be seen all the way down the road. 🙂

  18. That looks like a treehouse fit for a queen! 🙂 I’ve never been in one or known anybody who had one, but it would have been a fun place to hang out as a kid. Your first video isn’t available in Canada and there’s not enough info to search for it, but I did enjoy the second one.

    We’re in the home stretch now! 🙂

    2. Debbie, sorry for the screw up on the first video. I forget to check the region. This treehouse is rather nice. The ones from yesteryear are a bit rustic and not so fancy as this but I like the appeal of the one I sketched. Thanks for dropping by!

  19. Love your tree houses my friend… when can I move in. They look so wonderfully inviting. Having tons of work with the new computer and my passwords are driving me crazy! A little prayer about now would help I think. Amen!!!

    It works out very well that you published your T post the night before, because Mrs. S and I need to hit the road tomorrow morning and I didn’t want to have to rush my visit with you.

    There is indeed something enchanting about a treehouse. I always wanted one but never got one. I had to make do by walking to a nearby park and climbing trees. I loved to sit on high branches, sometimes for hours, listening to the sound of the breeze rustling the leaves, observing birds and insects, and letting my mind wander. There is no such thing as wasting time if it nourishes the soul, and sitting peacefully high up in a tree and just living, just being, did it for me. Do you know what I mean? My neighbor friend had a little wooden clubhouse in his back yard. It wasn’t in a tree but it was a fun hangout for us kids.

    I enjoyed the “Treehouses” song. I agree that if and when you stop playing, you grow old. I believe in keeping a sense of humor, exercising my imagination whenever possible and turning all work into play. “Never grow up, never grow old.”

    Cathy, that is a marvelous treehouse drawing, easily one of the best of the series, and yessum, I would love to have a treehouse like that one. It looks cozy and inviting nestled in the tree’s canopy. A kid lucky enough to have that treehouse on his property would be the envy of all his friends.

      Daydreaming gets labeled as “wasted time” but you’re very right it does nourish the soul. It’s good to stretch the imagination and say maybe someday I’ll do this or that. I never really thought about this way until you mentioned but I do my share of daydreaming these days and reap the benefits from it because it refreshes my mind, builds my hopes, and fuels my passions. When we stop playing, we do grow old as you said and that’s something I will not have any part in. I’m delighted you enjoyed my treehouse sketch and the accompanying mewsic.   22. Tree houses are pretty neat. Don’t know if I’d want to live in one now, but I’ve always wanted a tree house. That’s a nice one in your drawing.

    1. Lee, I think most kids wanted a treehouse. I was looking at a house on online recently and I pointed out to DH that it also comes with a treehouse. I’m sold! 🙂

  23. Nice sketch! I never had a treehouse, as I lived in a flat, but when I was in my teens I lived in a block of flats that was on a huge block of land and had plenty of trees, including an entire orchard of fruit trees. Our neighbours’ boy, who went on to become an engineer, had a treehouse with a PA system he had made himself(future engineer, remember), and which his mother could use to call him in for meals.

  24. What a great treehouse! When I was young, my parents bought a metal “tree house” that my dad erected in the middle of the yard. You could climb up into, but it wasn’t in a tree. It was fun for awhile but with us kids hanging on it, climbing up it, etc., it didn’t seem to last long. The bolts got loose and the metal rusted.   25. That is a great treehouse, Cathy! I never had a treehouse and I can’t remember if I wanted a real treehouse or not. However, when I was a tweenager, I wanted a Sunshine Family Treehouse. It was a treehouse dollhouse. I wanted a dollhouse something fierce, too. My mama got the SFTH for my little sister and I was so upset! I eventually got one of my own and also David bought me a great dollhouse on our honeymoon. 🙂 If it had a lift to get up the tree, I would be perfectly happy with living in a treehouse out in the middle of the woods now!

      It would be fun to have a treehouse someday if we ever have grandkids but the thoughts of having to climb anything in our golden years doesn’t sound too good to me. I’ve watched my FIL going up and down the stairs in recent years with a fear-stricken heart and always stayed ready to try to break his fall. That’s about all I could do, I’m sure and probably would be hurt in the tumble too. I love staircases and always wanted one but I’ve since begun to rethink ever having one in my dream house. I’m so glad you got your dollhouse. David is a sweetheart!

      1. Yes, he is. Thank you. 🙂 I wish that I still had that dollhouse. It was in our storage building that got stolen (yes, not just the contents, but the building, too!). Maybe some day I can get another one, but it isn’t so much a priority now.
        Stairs are difficult for us these days because of David’s balance issues in these special boots he has to wear and my COPD. An open-air lift, instead of a closed-in elevator up to the treehouse would work great for us. 🙂
        I hope that your FIL is going to be okay and never falls. I agree, that would be very scary to have happen. I have fallen down stairs several times, once while carrying our youngest son when he was a baby and once the day after I gave birth to our oldest daughter. I only hurt me in that fall. When I fell with Davey, I was scared to death that I’d broken him. Thankfully, he was okay! Stairs are always throwing me. 🙂
        Would you put stairs or a ladder or a rope on it for your grand-kids to be able to get up to it? Or would they just climb the tree to get up there?

        Okay, T prompts….Tennessee and Texas things, thyme/time, tricycle, T-Rex, trampoline, and tomatoes.

  27. I love your tree house and would be one I would love to have had when I was little. I always linked treehouses but never had one nor did I know anyone with a treehouse. Now, from the shows I see, there are tree houses that are fancierier than my real home!

      There are vacation spots that boast about having treehouse accommodations and while this seems fun I don’t think I actually want to spend that kind of money to sleep in one. I prefer modern facilities when I vacation, just called me spoiled. lol Thanks for stopping by!
