April A2Z Art Sketching through the Alphabet “R”

Posted on April 21, 2017

Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, Easter was this past Sunday. A sketch of Christ’s resurrection is an awesome idea but my brain was thinking about animals and so with the letter “R” prompt, I sketched a Mr. Rabbit.

You can see he’s been hiding eggs for little boys and girls.

Hopefully, what I share with you every day will encourage you to do something that interests you that you’ve long put off because like me you just don’t think you can. My advice is, just do it! Maybe, you’ll be surprised. I know I was! 🙂

I can’t let y’all head into the weekend without giving you a bit of comic relief with some Friday Sillies and I sketched another cartoon for ya.

Wile E. Coyote is none the wiser as to what that clever Roadrunner is fixing to do. Kittens & Dawg, cover your ears for the big boom!

I’m heading off to link up with other fellow AtoZers and you’re invited to come along.  I’ll see you on tomorrow for the next installment of Art Sketching through the Alphabet!

Such a cute bunny and thank you for this blast from the past Roadrunner sketch. My siblings and I used to watch it on Sunday mornings and that anvil!

Donna, thanks for the re-visit and I agree it’s great to be back to sketching. I never did work like this when I was younger, so I’m delighted with my progression over the past few weeks. I’ll be by to see you soon. It looks like I need to do a little catch up with you.

That’s a very good rabbit drawing, Cathy.. Nice touch with the Easter eggs! 😀 Your Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner look exactly like the cartoons. Well done! Have a good weekend.

“Road Runner” is one of those cartoons that’s funny even though you know exactly what’s going to happen.

John, the Roadrunner always has the last laugh, doesn’t he? I always thought the Roadrunner looked silly yet he outwits the coyote every time. 🙂

Nick, I haven’t heard of Watership Down but I gathered that’s a program aired in the UK. I did see some images of the rabbit and I see why you think my rabbit reminds you of the rabbits in this show. 🙂 Thanks for visiting. Have a good weekend!

Grew up with those to silly critters! Love it. And to think that today they call the Roadrunner and Coyote a bad cartoon cause of the violent behavior of both. I turned out okay watching it! Great drawings! Think I am heading to the store for pencils…thanks I needed another hobby!!haha

Pam, I think most of turned out just fine watch those hilarious, outrageous, over-the-top cartoons. No one in our generation is jumping off mountains or trying to blow up the neighbor’s cat or light a match in a room full of explosives. We know all that is stupid! Thanks for complimenting my work. I can’t wait to see your sketches now. 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

You did it again, dear friend – two more excellent sketches! That bunny rabbit might be the most naturally rendered animal you have presented so far. Once again I look at the eyes and they are kind, gentle and innocent. You have a gift for conveying that impression in the eyes of your subjects. His size, shape and stance all look correct and I appreciate the added elements within the frame, the Easter eggs, tulips, tree, hills and clouds. The Roadrunner and Wylie Coyote drawing is also wonderful and whimsical (a-mewsing). Great job, Cathy!

As promised, Kathleen Mae left a lovely reply to your comment on my blog last evening. I am sure you will want to read it.

Have an awesome Friday, dear friend Cathy!

The resurrection picture would have been pretty amazing, but the rabbit is nice. The resurrection would have been intense so maybe you can save that for something more epic later.
