Songs To Make You Look On The Brighter Side

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to the Sunday edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me!  This week’s prompt is whatever music moves you.  As I prepared my song list, it dawned on me today is the anniversary of one of the worse days in America history.  It’s a day we should never forget, but I think we need to fill our hearts, our lives, our world with hope.  I felt inspired to picks songs that make you look to the brighter side with my 10-song playlist.

Songs of Inspiration playlist: 1. Titanium ~David Guetta ft. Sia 2. Livin’ On A Prayer ~Bon Jovi 3. Don’t Stop Believin’ ~Journey 4. Dream On ~Aerosmith 5. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough ~Marvin Gaye 6. What A Feeling ~Irene Cara 7. Here Comes The Sun ~The Beatles 8. Lovely Day ~Bill Withers 9. Roar ~Katy Perry 10. What A Wonderful World ~Louis Armstrong

To see the brighter side of life can be as simple as waking to a new day.  The rising sun fills the senses almost like a magical spell casting inner peace.  Sharing life with another person at your side to hurdle stormy weather together helps to throw aside the dark clouds. Other times, getting to the brighter side might come from finally being fed up with beating oneself up or having others to do it before realizing enough is enough while championing one’s way toward his/her goals.  Someone told me long ago, if you want others to believe in you that you have to believe in yourself first.  See the beauty in you, see the beauty in our world, never stop believin’, dream on til your dreams come true!

I clipped portions of each song that inspires to help push the gloom away so the beauty of the day can shine forth.

You shoot me down, but I won’t fall I am titanium!  Titanium ~David Guetta ft. Sia

We’ve gotta hold on to what we’ve got
It doesn’t make a difference if we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love we’ll give it a shot

Livin’ On A Prayer ~Bon Jovi

Don’t stop believin’
Hold on to that feelin’

~Journey

Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream until your dream come true

~Aerosmith

Ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you babe

~Marvin Gaye

Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive

~Irene Cara

Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo-doo, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right

~The Beatles

Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day
… lovely day, lovely day, lovely day

~Bill Withers

I got the eye of the tiger
A fighter
Dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar

~Katy Perry

I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

~Louis Armstrong

The theme this week is whatever music moves you for freedom of song choice week.

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

  1. Wonderful playlist and philosophical thoughts on one of the most horrific days of my life (and most of ours). The first song, Titanium, I was not familiar with and it was an instant favorite. Where was I when this came out that I didn’t know the song? Alana ramblinwitham

  2. Glad to see all my favourites compiled together. Was nice to see Alana do the same too. 🙂 It’s my lucky day now, after a flurry of sad news that came my way.

Thank you for sharing these and the clips from the lyrics.

Have a good week ahead, dearest. 🙂 xoxo

  3. It was a horrific day for America that resonated around the world! Your inspirational playlist is perfect to lift our moods, Cathy. Have a pleasant week.

  4. What an awesome playlist.
9-11 is one of those dates that everyone remembers where they were when the news broke. I was in a company board meeting when a staff member came in and told us about the first plane. The meeting adjourned and we made our way to a television and watched in horror as plane number 2 struck the second tower. The war on terror had begun.

  5. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice week.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that baby flipper… but I’m afraid he’d latch onto my lip.

I enjoyed your set of songs to make us look on the brighter side. I was already familiar with Sia having recently used one of her songs in a post of my own. I also know French DJ and EDM producer/remixer David Guetta because I have several of his collaborative productions in my CD collection. Typically, the songs he composes quietly build for a minute or more before bursting into the main melody and vigorous dance beat. I am also familiar with the songs by Bon Jovi, Journey, Aerosmith, Marvin & Tammi, Irene Cara (theme from one of my favorite movies), The Beatles, Katy Perry and Louis Armstrong. I have most of them in my collection including several extended remix versions of “Roar.” “Lovely Day” by the late Bill Withers is new to my ears and I like it. “Wonderful World” was one of the “anchor songs” of our NLP seminar. I used the song in a 62 minute promotional video I produced for our series of week-long motivational programs.

I like how you posted key lyrics from the songs. The lines that have always inspired me are the ones from Flashdance:

    Take your passion
    And make it happen

To me, that says it all about how we can and should live our lives.

Yessum, I certainly did enjoy myself on the dance floor here at CAAC. Please take good care of yourself and have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

  6. Awww on that cutie pie. So precious.

The perfect playlist on this day. I vividly remember that horrible morning.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
