Anniversary Friday Sillies edition & more

It’s almost mid-June.  That means next week, we’ll be celebrating Christmas.  At the rate the days are clicking off that’s the way it feels.

Speaking of the passing of time.  Last Sunday, we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary.  Now, how did that happen?

You ask, what’s the secret to our long marriage The first thing is DH NEVER forgets our special day.

He learned his lesson after the first year, never to repeat it again.

And, second, we both know where we stand in our relationship.

Honestly, is there any other way?

I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Ellen and Lorraine.

1. I hope Turkey Hill Dairy never goes out of business.  Right now they are our new favorite ice cream with their all-natural line of ice cream.  Blue Bell used to be tops on our list but they’ve changed.  I don’t know if it’s due to the financial difficulties brought on from the 2015 listeria outbreak but whatever the cause something isn’t right.

2. So far, the highlight of my year has been celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary last weekend. In today’s wasteful society of tossing out everything and anything that’s broken, worn out, doesn’t work quite right, bored of, outgrown, or lifestyle burden is easily disposed of including marriage, I’m thankful DH and I managed to not fall prey to such thinking and fought for one another every step of every day.  There’s no such thing as a purrfect man (or woman) but I’ve learned it’s what DH does for me is purrfect in every way because it’s done out of love.

3. Blogging takes up too much time. Sadly, this is true and I’m hopelessly addicted to this social media outlet but even I know when I need to take a break to set things right. That’s something I’m planning on doing beginning July 1st.

4. If I didn’t have to sleep, I would spend that extra time to draw.  Sketching is another addiction for me. I love to doodle.  I figure the only way to master my skills is to practice, practice, practice.  That being said, did you see yesterday’s Thursday Art Date with Rain illustrations?

You might have noticed a little change on my site.  I’ve wanted to change my blog design for a few years now and finally got around to doing it yesterday.  I’d like to give credit where credit is due. A special thanks to Amanda Elizabeth from Pixabay for my picture frame header.  The vintage pin-up gals, I borrowed from various Google searches over the years and an additional thank you to cocoparisienne from Pixabay for the mewsic background.

Come hit the dance floor for ‘your choice song picks‘ week. Leave all the exercise equipment at home and just boogie to the beat on  Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

  1. Happy belated anniversary! And thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! If I could get away without sleeping, drawing is one thing I’d do more of as well. I sure wish I could figure out how to survive without sleep, because I feel like my to-do list would be far less daunting then. Have a wonderful day!

  2. Happy Anniversary and I love the humor! I feel blogging does slow down during the summer months and there’s nothing wrong with taking a break. I know I said this before but I love your new banner. It’s fun!

    1. Eugenia,

Thanks for sharing in some giggles. WP had your comment again in my Spam folder and being a bit slow I’m just now seeing it. Sorry, my friend. Yep, things are slowing down in Blogosphere. It’s a good time for anyone to step away without missing a beat. However, those who do not want to get away from cyberspace find it frustrating. I remember a day when I was one of those bothered by low blog volume.

  3. So many seem to be talking about cutting back on their blogging of late. Maybe it’s just the advent of summer and the call of the outdoors.

  4. MOL MOL…Looks like you had a well-packed anniversary weekend, CK…MOL😹 You always make us MOL, funny girl! We like your answers on the fill-ins too and the drawing is so cute💗The new blog theme looks very nice and well-arranged in every way. Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

  5. Happy anniversary. Yes, blogging does take a lot of time. Have a great blog break.

  6. Those are great funnies 🙂 Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I want some ice cream now 🙂 Congrats on 40 years of wedded bliss! That is something to be very proud of. Have a wonderful weekend! Xo

  7. Congratulations! That’s a wonderful milestone to reach. Would love to get there but we are only just about to hit 19 as this was not a first marriage for either of us. So we’ll be 93 if we live long enough! Love the treadmill video – very mesmerizing with the music. Hope you’ve had a lovely week of celebrating!

    1. Gilly,

If we’re fortunate to celebrate our 80th wedding anniversary then we’ll be in our late 90s. I was a child bride, just six months from my 18th birthday. We were too young to get married but we didn’t care. That’s what love does to ya. I don’t think I would do anything differently if we could do it over. 🙂

  8. Such a fun post. I did link you to Feline Friday. Just because I can.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, my friend. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Ah, you’re sweet. You didn’t have to link me up but I appreciate it. I don’t want my ‘non-feline’ post to ruffle anyone’s fur. lol

    1. Jacqui,

Every anniversary deserves to be celebrated and remembered. Our society doesn’t put importance on committed relationships like they once did and it’s really sad.

  9. Happy 40th Anniversary!!! 🙂 I think that’s wonderful!!! And honestly, if someone gifted me with a Colt, I’d be pickled tink! 😀 I agree that blogging does take up lots of time, but darn if it isn’t fun?? I love the interaction and learning about people and their lives! When I stopped for a few months during the home search, I didn’t feel quite right! If I didn’t sleep, I think I’d be baking, cooking and painting my life away!! 🙂

    1. Rain,

Yeah, a gun would make this girl happy, too. 🙂 Blogging is immense fun. That’s why even when I’m on a so-called break it’s not a complete one. lol Thanks for the warm wishes for our anniversary. The years went by too fast!

  10. HaPpY AnNiVeRsArY!!! I love the change of the blog. It looks great. I have the best idea for a happy marriage…DON’T DO IT….haha..I am kidding! Although I do know the best idea for a happy divorce, never marry again…haha

    1. Pamela,

You crack me up! I guess divorced folks probably do think ‘never marry again’. I’m blessed with my soulmate for life and I pray we’ll be together for many, many, many more years. I told him here’s to 40 more years and he said, no 140 more years. 🙂

  11. Happy Anniversary! In today’s world 40 years is quite an accomplishment. My youngest brother and wife 46 years, and when I think about it I feel really old!
    Have a great weekend

    xoxo

    1. Sally,

Growing older is the upside to the alternative and although I know where I’ll spend my eternity I love being with those I love in this life for as long as God will allow. Age is a mindset when we start feeling old, we act old, and others will see us as old. I’m trying hard to make everything think I’m still a kid…if nothing more at heart. lol Thanks for visiting.

  12. I’m borrowing a couple of your items for the Wedded Bliss section in upcoming Friday Funnies! I’ll link back to your blog when I do. 🙂

    1. Paul,

Feel free to borrow what you want. After all, I do the same from various Google searches and sites. Have a good weekend and thanks for joining me for some giggles.

    1. Thanks, Brian! I love the vintage pin-up girls – sexy innocence & beauty all-in-one. Enduring qualities that are lost in today’s models and starlets.
