Walk by faith

Posted on July 21, 2015

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! Chances are good I’ll be away from Blogosphere today. Last Friday, DH joined the ranks of the unemployed. Our hope for another extension failed to come through, but given his original termination date was at the end of March then we count ourselves blessed for this little reprieve.

Job loss is nothing new to us…either of us, but more so for DH. Every since the 1985 RIF (reduction in force) at TVA, we’ve been dished the painful pink slip on several occasions. It’s never easy or fun, but we learn how to deal with each cut and trust God to tie us over until a new opportunity opens. My trust rests in Him.

The upside at this point in our lives is we are emotionally and financially better equipped. I have discovered maturing has its perks in the way I see things given to us ~ good or bad. Monetarily speaking, we are in a better place with no mortgage or credit card balance. These things strangled us in the earlier years. Of course, we have the usual obligations: utilities, groceries, etc. I think (I’m not sure 100%) with unemployment benefits (assuming things don’t go wrong…it’s a government program after all), we can manage these bills for a short time.

Electrical engineering jobs are tight in Knoxville. I’m not sure what this means now. Will DH find work locally or will he have to commute? Is a move in our future? What is God’s plan for us at this point? Only time will tell the tale and all I can do is walk by faith.

NOTE: Kindly keep us in your thoughts & prayers. Please, don’t worry, if I’m absent from blogging for a bit. We plan to take care of some chores we haven’t had time for in a while, while enjoying a little R&R in-between the job hunting. Thanks for understanding! 😉

absolutely keeping you and DH in my prayers. All I can say in faith, is that I truly believe the Lord’s timing is perfect, and I believe that window will open when it is supposed to. 🙂

Good thoughts are coming your way for sure, Cathy. I am sure something will open up. And in the meantime try and enjoy the time you two are having together without a ‘pesky daytime job’ (that pays the bills) to keep you apart 😉

Jeffrey, I learned the valve of trusting God when I was a young girl and it’s been with me my entire adult life. Not that I don’t have lows, but it sure makes a difference how I managed the challenges. Thanks for your kind words.

I wish you all well. I know how difficult it can feel because I’ve been there, but as you indicate, if you keep the faith God will pull you through. Blessings.

Lee, anyone who’s lived long enough understands these sorts of circumstances all too well. I’m glad I can draw strength from the knowledge that God is always with us. Thanks for visiting!

Hi Cathy, sorry to read of your not-so-great news. Just wanted to offer a virtual hug. My family has been affected by unemployment too as has most, I guess. When I was made redundant after 20 years with one company I wasn’t prepared for how much of my confidence it would sap or how angry it would make me.mIf it happened again, I would understand that a loss of a job is exactly that – a loss- and needs grieving for, in a way. Sending you best wishes.

Kimberley, thanks for the hugs. We’ve gotten through this before and we’ll survive again, especially with God on our sides. How can we lose? 😉
