An Old Wagon Wheel by the Fence TAD

Rain’s art prompt this week is wheel. I love seeing vintage wagon wheels used in landscaping whether purposely placed or left forgotten.  Here is my Procreate illustration.

I felt hurried to complete my drawing as I wanted to get this post done before DH’s dental appointment yesterday.  The imperfections are bothersome to look at so, I used Brushstrokes to smooth things over with two different painting effects.

The app is a wonderful tool to turn your photos or sketches into painting-like  images.  I love the texture it adds.  However, the down side is the app can’t replicate small details like on the kitty’s face.  The features get lost but still I love playing with it and generally the overall results!

I’ve been busy in the kitchen making some special things for DH in preparation for his dental work.  One of the things I fixed for him is homemade chocolate pudding.

Next week, I’ll share the recipe for the pudding and tell you more about what I’ve been cooking!😉

I’m thankful that everything went very well yesterday at DH’s dentist appointment.  It took 4½ hours to complete the work. We were told 5 hours so we saved half an hour.

I’m thankful that we were spared any misfortune when a driver on the interstate had serious problems with his car. DH said he could see in the rearview mirror that it had some damage on the driver’s front side and the tire was flying apart.  The exit we took, he also took, and he came barreling past us. I could see the driver’s frontend was crushed up near the wheel wheel, trim sticking out, and smoke coming from somewhere. It smelled like hot rubber.   He was driving too fast in heavy traffic.  He cut someone off dangerously close and hit the vehicle in front of him when the traffic light turned red. Both drivers pulled through the light to tend to things.  We were safe, though. I’d really like to know what was going on with this person’s car, though.

I’m very thankful my sister got good news on a medical test recently.

DH goes in today for a short follow up visit with the dentist so that he can make sure all the temporary crowns on his upper arch are okay.  Tomorrow, I’ll be back with a new edition of FFO.  Feel free to pop in for a visit!  Have a doodletastic day!

  1. It’s fun to see you play with your drawings, Cathy. I’m glad that the two of you were okay and not caught up in an accident. It would be almost worth it to have dental work for some of that gorgeous pudding. Darius Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel” is one of my absolute favorite songs. Have a great weekend!

  2. Hi Cathy! I love “Frayed 3″…I know what you mean about those wagon wheels. They have a cozy charm to them. Ooooh chocolate pudding! And yikes about the drive, thankfully you weren’t hurt!

    1. I think I like “Frayed 3” best, too. It gives the image a washed out effect which I really like. Homemade chocolate pudding is hands down better than anything you can get from the grocery store or restaurants but then that’s the way I feel just about anything we eat now since I’m doing more creative cooking/baking. DH feels the same.

  3. Great job on the wagon wheels, Cathy. Poor DH and that long dental appointment. Geesh! And that accident – scary! Stay safe.

  4. Love your wheel art Cathy. Deliscious chocolate pudding.Terrible about that accident. That was a long dental appointment.

    1. I’m happy to hare Procreate with someone new. Thanks for stopping by. I better get in the kitchen to make some more chocolate pudding. lol

  5. Those a wonderful Thankfuls, CK. That was great news about your sister and about the dentist…after such a long sit, you certainly deserved it🙈 Your paintings are fantastic, CK, we have seen them all in the other posties too, but we couldn’t comment on the phone, as we were all time outside in the garden to break down and built up another barrier for …err…us🙊Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

    1. Being outside is better than being behind a computer, so don’t worry about commenting. If you’re able to click “like” then I’ll see that eventually. 😉 Thanks for dropping by, dearie!

  6. I’m glad the dental visit went well and you avoided a problem with the other car. I watched a red-light runner almost crunch someone today, it was close. Things do get crazy.

    Your drawing is beautiful.

    1. Car problems and accidents can happen any time but honestly there are a lot of crazy drivers doing the dumbest things or taking unnecessary risks or too easy angered. Like DH always says, “It’s only going to get worse.” And, I know he’s right.

  7. That is a long time in the dentist’s chair. Nice thankfuls. And good job on the wagon wheels. XO

    1. Yes, it is but he worked on DH’s entire upper arch. His teeth were grind down to ready them for crowns. Once the lab gets the crowns made then it’ll take another 4-5 hours for the dentist to seat and adjust them. We’re both looking forward to this being completed, him more so than me. 😉

  8. I always enjoy your art and that’s great news on the dental visit and even better news that you were not in the path of driving destruction. Thanks for the kind words and support during my recent health challenges, I appreciate it so very much!

  9. Love this post, Cathy! We had front and back wagon wheels in the yards of the house I grew up in. They were among the first things to sell at the Estate sale. Now I wish I would have kept them 😉 Love Darius Rucker!
    Happy Spring!

    1. Ahhh, yeah that would’ve been awesome had you kept those wagon wheels. I don’t know how common wagon wheels are but you might check with some vintage or antique shops. Last summer/fall, we hit them in search of old Corning dinnerware. The stuff we had since we got married in 1979 needed replacing because all of it was chipped so badly and I kept getting pieces of glass stuck in my fingers. The patterns they have now are horrible. We liked their Vitrella Winter Frost dinnerware which is a simplistic white collection. They don’t make cups with their sets anymore and that’s one reason we hit the antique stores. We found some that work very well and while looking we found a pattern that we still had a few pieces of that my in-laws got me for Christmas in the late 90s. Hopefully these will last for 40+ years. Ours should’ve been replaced years ago but I kept putting it off. I wish I hadn’t because before the government shut downs there was a better selection, not as good as the 80s and 90s but a lot better than now.

  10. I am so far behind commenting. This is great art. I really love that wheel. I guess we better buy up cocoa and chocolate before the prices go out the roof at the store. LOL Have a nice day today.

    1. Don’t worry about being behind on commenting. I usually am, too. It’s been especially a real struggle for me much of this year which makes me feel a bit overwhelmed. I’m trying to just go with the flow to get around to it when I can. We absolutely love Droste cocoa! Have you tried it? It’s really good stuff! I order it from Amazon usually but the last time I got it from World Market online. I found it recently at our local World Market and the Fresh Market but that requires a special trip. Buying it online in bulk is the way to go for us.
