America boogies this LABOR DAY!

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

This is a long holiday weekend for us. DH’s had Friday off and again tomorrow for Labor Day.  It’s Sunday, so it’ not official yet but the unofficial end of summer is less than 24 hours away. Whew, how did that happen?

And, just like that, another new month has begun and the 4M crew welcomes 🎶ℳ𝒶𝓇𝓎 from Jingle, Jangle, Jungle 🎶 as this month’s honorary co-host.  This week’s theme she suggests,  In honor of Labor Day, build a playlist to spell ‘LABOR DAY’.   Are you ready to dance? 💃🕺

  1. Lonely People
  2. A Horse With No Name
  3. The Border
  4. Only In Your Heart
  5. Right Before Your Eyes
  6. Daisy Jane
  7. Amber Cascades
  8. You Can Do Magic

Did you catch what I did? If you said, ‘That Cathy sure is clever using the band America for this national holiday to spell out LABOR DAY’, then I’d like to say thank you for recognizing my ingenious qualities and say, you’re absolutely right! 👏🤣

Please readthis is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC

On behalf of the 4M crew, you’re invited to link up and join the dance party!

AttentionWould you like to be the 4M honorary co-host for a month? Send me an email or leave a message in comments saying ‘Count me in, I want to do it!’ and I’ll secure your spot, then zip you an email with details.  😉

It’s the first and while I miss you like crazy (Natalie Cole) )I’m still sitting out on Battle of the Bands until the September 15th showdown. Please, hop over to Stephen’s place for a list of possible battles underway now.

That being said, starting on Wednesday I hope to be back into the normal blogging groove again. *cross fingers & say a little prayer*  It’s gonna be tough after my carefree days these past two months. Don’t interpret that as I was being lazy because I kept plenty busy doing lots of chores. I’m sure to get off to a sluggish beginning with my Blogosphere routine but it won’t take long to catch on.  Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon.

  1. Hope you had a wonderful, relaxing holiday! So glad it’s finally September. Thank you for the info on Bobby Gentry being married to Jim Stafford – I had no idea! Jim Stafford’s theater in Branson is the last place my Conway performed the afternoon before he died 🙁

  2. Excellent choise, CK, we forgot who sang the Border and the Magic song, so glad you brought it in again😸We listened to the other songs too and WOW! America is great!…well…we already knew that…MOL😸 Hope you had a wonderful Labor Day. We’re glad to be back to make some mewsic with you. Pawkisses for a wonderful day and let’s swing it out now🐾😽💞

    1. Binky,

  3. Hi Cathy; I hope you had a lovely summer and holiday weekend. Hard to believe it’s September already! 😮 That’s a clever playlist, using songs from America exclusively. 🙂 Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, myself. It is a bit difficult, after spending time away. See you again, soon!

  4. HI AGAIN! BOOGIE OOGIE I’m listening to songs while I’m cookin’ What a fun day & some great tunes our people have… YOU GO EVERYBODY! SO MUCH FUN… Okay turning up the tunes and goin’ to flip the ribs & burgers. HAPPY LABOR DAY GIRLFRIEND! HUGS

  5. Cathy, you hit it out of the park with these tunes,I spelled out labor day as well using some different artists and some Beatle tunes.

    1. Mike,

Fabulous, I’m glad you liked my set this week. I’m eager to listen to what’s spinning on your turntable. Crank up the volume because I’m comin’ to join you now.

    1. Patrick,

What a pleasure to see you this week on the dance floor! I’m happy you enjoyed my song set for this week’s cool theme. I’m headin’ your way now. 😉

    1. Ramona,

Mary provided a great theme for this week which happened to spur a bit creative fun coming up with my playlist. I’m happy that enjoyed my song set. 😉

  6. YOU SO ROCK, Girlfriend!!! Lovin’ your tunes and I’m trying to get as many as I can in tonight because tomorrow will be a busy day, and busy for all of us I’m sure. So, have tons of fun tomorrow and be safe!!! BIG HUGS

  7. Nice theme. Great choices. I am sitting this one out, it requires too much brain power to come up with so many songs 🙂

    1. Ellen,

Don’t be dismayed by challenging themes. If you wish to participate just do what moves you. Often others find ways to make the theme work in their favor and really it’s all about the mewsic, so go at it and have fun! Thanks for joining me on the dance floor. I’m heading your way now!

  8. Hi Cathy 🙂 I honestly don’t really know the band America, but I wanted to wish you a happy Labour Day without too much labour! I LOVE that BBQ pinup!!!

    1. Rain,

There are a lot of great bands from the 70s and 80s that slipped my consciences. It takes boogieing with another to learn of those I somehow missed from the past which always leaves me baffled at how I didn’t know of the new2me artist but it’s a nice discovery. Thanks for making time to dance with me and for the holiday warm wishes. I’ll see you before long, dearie!

    1. Thanks, Eugenia! I’m happy you found time to boogie with me. Whew, can’t believe it’s September, though. I’m hopping over to see you next! 😉

  9. I’ll say “how clever” because I am an America fan (both the country and the group) and now I’ll have “Only in Your Heart” as an earworm for the next couple of days. I had their greatest hits album (as in “LP”) that I bought in a wonderful Dalls,Texas back when I lived in Texas in 1976-1977. Thanks for the memories and I hope your skies brighten soon.

    1. Alana,

I’m a fan of America, too. I love this old band and their mewsic never goes out of style in my opinion. We got out for a while yesterday to enjoy the day. The sky, for the most part, was beautiful and blue with some great big fluffy clouds hanging over us but the heat zapped my energy quickly. While I hate to see the season moving toward the autumn change I can’t say I’ll miss the hot temperatures. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me. Have a boogietastic week, my dear! 😘

  10. Hi, Cathy!

Happy MMMM on Sunday and happy Labor Day to you, dear friend! I appreciate your pin-up (by Gil Elvgren, I assume) showing the glamour girl chef cooking burgers outdoors and her dog begging for scraps. While I am on the subject, I want you to know that it took me all this time to read the fine print and realize that the three pinups used in your header represent the three primary themes of your blog – music, art and photography (“mewsic, doodles & pix”). Very clever!

It was also clever of you to use songs recorded by the great soft-rock band America to spell out Labor Day. If I were playing along I might have used songs by Gary (U.S.) Bonds. 🙂 Sandwiched between three major hits by America, “Lonely People, “Horse” and “Magic” are songs that are new to my ears. I enjoyed the introduction. America had a smooth, laid-back sound that I have come to like more in recent years than I did in the 70s.

I look forward to your return to full time blogging. I hope you, DH and the rest of your family are steadily recovering from the sadness of losing loved ones in recent weeks. I’ve been thinking about you all. Looks like we’re out of harm’s way down here and can breathe easier and enjoy our holiday weekend now that hurricane Dorian is far to our east over the ocean.

Have a happy Sunday and a boogietastic week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Happy belated Labor Day to you, my friend! The barbecuing pinup beauty is an illustration of Vaughan Alden Bass. His style replicates Elvgren’s style a lot. In his early career at Louis F. Dow Company, he was a ‘paint over’ artist redoing work of other artists such as Gil Elvgrn. I’m happy you finally realized what I did with my blog header. You’re the first to say anything, so I’m not sure if others picked up on it or not. 🙂

DH & I are doing okay with our circle of family/friends’ loss. Unfortunately, death is a part of life and we must carry on until we’re reunited someday. Thanks for stopping in to enjoy the mewsic spinning on the dance floor, my friend. I’ll be by to see you a little later this morning. I’ve been up since 3:15 and I need to grab a few hours of Zs so I won’t drag through the day. Have a boogietastic week!

  11. Cathy!

I love that you went with America for the backdrop/artist for the setlist! I wrote my post so long ago, I had to double check that I didn’t use America as one of mine – as I used artists in the alpha portion. I know I they will be coming up at some point in the future – I just can’t remember when 🙂 I have a fun Labor Day themed Battle that’s live now https://www.jinglejanglejungle.net/2019/09/battleofthebands-labor-day-weekend.html and my 4M post will go live at 12am EST Monday https://www.jinglejanglejungle.net/2019/09/4m-labor-day-edition.html Still working on my #RocktoberMusicFest2019 posts – about halfway done there…

Have a great holiday weekend and a boogietastic week!

    ~Mary

    1. Mary,

I came up with my songs a long time ago, too. It’s going to be fun to listen to the various Labor Day acrostic playlists. I’ll be surprised if there’s a lot of repeats spinning on the dance floor but we’ll see. I enjoyed building my playlist and loved the theme you started us off with this week. Great job! I’ll be over in a few to boogie with you, as well cast my vote in your BoTB showdown. I got all of my #RocktoberMusicFest posts done. Yay, me! However, DH and I are planning to take some time together. He has vacation days that he needs to put to good use, so we’ll enjoy a staycation doing some of our favorites in the area and hopefully enjoying a beautiful autumn. 🙂 Let me scoot. I have a whole of boogieing to do! Thanks for joining me on the dance floor and for being this month’s honorary co-hostess, darlin’!
