Spring is just around the corner. It is really is just days away. The luster of our world is springing forth with life, as the green, green grass carpet our lawn and the tree branches pop open little flowering buds while sunny yellow daffodil heads dance in the breeze. This is the moment…this is the time meant to enjoy.
Jenny Matlock reminded me of something in her post this morning, Little Magic Moments. Years ago, when I worked beyond my four walls in the land of grown-ups and corporate stress, years before my darling children were only a mere sparkle in my eyes I, too, enjoyed some little magic moments of my own.
Every day around noon, a gentleman who none of us could see from my office heard the most beautiful music. The sound of bagpipes echoed softly and peacefully to our ears. In those moments, everything seemed quiet. I don’t know if the office was actually silent or if it was just from concentrating so intently on the spellbinding bagpipes that I shut work out completely.
The charm of the melodies allowed peace to cascade over my mind. The rest of the afternoon seemed a little happier and brighter much like the green, green hills of Ireland. The mesmerizing beauty of the bagpipes stayed with me even after I took an early retirement to raise my children. This is something you simply do not forget entirely.
In 2006 when my brother passed away, my mother played beguiling bagpipes cover of Amazing Grace. I always envisioned Heaven’s angels strumming harps as loved ones cross over but in a instant, God’s assurance washed over me as I imagined a solitaire angel standing on a luscious emerald hill playing Amazing Grace on the bagpipe for my brother. Maybe one day, when I make that journey from this life to the next, I’ll hear a bagpipe welcoming me home…I once was lost, but now am found.

If bagpipes are played well, they are a wonderful instrument.I imagine they are challenging to hear when a player is a beginner:)
Amazing Grace is my favorite song!

@Scather…Welcome! Its so nice to see a new friend visit. I took a peek at your nice blog. I liked the post about how books smell. That’s something I hadn’t really thought about before and yet they do have a certain scent.

@Joy…I’m glad you came for a visit. The bag pipes are unique. I’m unsure why such a sound can fill me with such peace, but it does. Maybe it’s the song more so than the instrument.
Amazing Grace is my favorite song!
Thank you!

@Patrice…any musical instrument is a struggle to listen to when its being learned. The skilled instrumentalist is a joy to hear play. Thank you for stopping by!
