On the weekends, you will not find me in Blogosphere. This is my time to spend with my DH, but it doesn’t stop my participation in the A-Z Challenge. I will make my rounds to all who land here and leave some blog love in my comments today.
This week I showed you the beautiful Smoky Mountains from the Cades Cove valley. Let me share with you the quaint homes left in the shadow of those hills.
The next few are photos I took shortly after getting my big girl camera in 2012. I failed to shoot these during my trips to the cove but wanted you to see all the quaint homes around the one-way loop road.
This little niche resting in the valley of the Smoky Mountains sparks the imagination in wondering how life was in those days. Accessibility to, modernization of, and advancement in medicine today has improved our life and we are living longer than ever before, but life was hard in the hills. Many of the grave markers in the cove show that adults didn’t live beyond their 30s. Common illnesses were lethal. A quaint community, a quaint way of life, but one I am happy to just visit for the day.
Thank you for taking time out of your weekend in hopping over to listen to the music! I hope you enjoyed your stroll through time. Would you be happy living in the early pioneer days? Did you enjoy your visit? I hope you enjoyed it so much that you cannot wait to tell your friends. Go ahead, show some blog love. Click the share (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) button! You know you wanna. 🙂
Have a songsational Saturday!

Beautiful pictures thanks for sharing, and what a wonderful tune. She is calming which I really needed. Thank you.
I also used quiet time for my Q today 🙂 I would love to live the way pioneers use to. BUT with my smart phone and computer. I don’t think I could give up these items. I love how simple life was back then.
I do like the idea of a simplistic life style, but I would not make a good pioneering woman, I don’t think. I am happy to live in the time I am with all of my modern technology. Thanks for visiting!
I read and reread the Little House books when I was younger. Anne of Green Gables and I are still very close friends. I think I would have made a fabulous pioneer – other than potentially starving with my inability to shoot anything and my less-than-green thumb. But I feel certain I could quilt and knead bread and make my children’s clothes and stoke a fire and chop the wood and read by candlelight….
Although, many of us would certainly be out of our element if we tried to live as pioneers today, I think if we were born in that time then all skills would have come to us through our parents like a second nature. I am just happy that I live in this day and time. I like technology, modern medicines, and convenience too much! Thanks for stopping by this weekend.
So sad to see those markers and the short lives so many lived, but they must have finally made it through. The last house you show makes it look idyllic, I wonder if they felt it too, sometimes.
I believe in the quiet of the evenings or early morning when they had time to reflect, then pioneers probably felt the blessings that surrounded them. This way of life was simple, but it was truly a hard one.
It really is a lovely part of the world. The houses definitely take me back to another era…the beauty of a simple life!
Cades Cove is a lovely place. We see visitors from all over the country, and parts of Canada. The Smoky Mountains is the most visited National Park in the USA. It was great to have you stop by!
