A Whimsical Enchanted Creature

In keeping with my commitment to participate in the weekly art date, I’m joining Rain’s Garden today with “Unicorn” being the theme.  The first time I drew a unicorn was for the A to Z Challenge in 2017.  Next month, you’ll have the opportunity to see my recreation version of the original black and white sketch.  A year or two ago using the technique of using dots I illustrated a whimsical unicorn for the TAD and today’s art has a playful, fun vibe in this whimsical enchanted creature illustration.

A Procreate illustration is loosely inspired from an images from Internet and I was all set to just go with a lone unique flying above the clouds until I uploaded the original and that’s when I decided it wasn’t complete without a little princess on its back. That’s when I sketched my sweet Princess LA in the scene.

When LA was smaller, she loved unicorns and still does but she more into Disney Princesses at the moment.  That’s how I came up with my final design.

I’m making some progress to replying to comments in the midst of everything and I think I’ve done 100% return visits but if not let me know if I’ve missed you.  I don’t want to leave a single person out.  I will wind things down with a YouTube playlist of relaxing fantasy music that’s beautifully magical and perfect to help you envision unicorns and faeries as you listen.

This is CAAC signing off,  I’ll be back with the Sunday’s Edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me and you’re invited to hit the dance floor with me.  Have a doodletastic day!

  1. Sounds like LA is a very special person in your life … and she is adorable on the Unicorn. My Daughter and my granddaughters have all loved unicorns and , in fact, still do. Something magical about them, right? I think you are doing a fine job keeping up with us. I will remind you that I often am late (like several days late) in doing my comments. No good excuses, just seem to be so busy all of the time with many different things. I hope you haven’t missed my comments by not checking back. Lovely post, Cathy already looking forward to next week …

  2. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thankful Thursday Art Date with Rain, dear friend! I hope your week is going well.

After gazing at your drawing for a few seconds, an idea popped into my head. Can you imagine how excited your LA would be if “Princess LA” became a thing? What I mean is, that you could create a whole series of color sketches based on her character and use them to illustrate a book series. Even if the stories or books are intended only for LA and given to her as birthday gifts and Christmas presents, I’m sure she would be delighted. Your drawing of her riding a unicorn and the caption “Dreams Can Come True” would make an excellent story book cover and title right off the bat. “Princess LA” is catchy, has a nice ring to it, in my opinion, and the possibility of turning it into something is worth exploring. You could even use her as the theme of a future A to Z Challenge. The hour long medley of fantasy mewsic would be great to play in the background for inspiration as you create scenes from Princess LA’s adventures, just saying…

Have a happy and Thankful Thursday, dear friend Cathy!
