A Weeping Angel

This month, I’m sharing with you past pencil sketch inspired Procreate recreations with my participation in the A to Z Challenge.  In my original Angels post from 2017, I did three pencil drawings.  I was really ambitious, wasn’t it?

I picked only one of the drawings to bring to life in color.

A weeping angel

I will try to keep my posts short this year.  Time is a precious thing when doing this challenge.  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day.  I will leave you with to soothe your soul cleansing away any bad vibes or if you prefer a vocal playlist you may like country songs about angels.  Just let the music play in the background as you troll Blogosphere or write up your post for tomorrow.  😉

Earlier this morning, my April 1st BOTB went live for those who like to cast a vote for your favorite cover artist.  I’m heading over to the A2Z headquarters to see who’s joined the party now.  I hope to see you again tomorrow for the next letter in the alphabet!

  1. Love your weeping angel. So soft and pretty but makes me think she is crying for all the Ukrainians right now. I love the harp

  2. CK- I always love the art that you bring to the A to Z challenge. Wow talk about inspired. Hope all is well. Enjoy April.

This A to Z story was birthed at The Passage hotel in 2007 in Odessa Ukraine. I changed the time period to the present. I hope you feel the courage and tenacity of the Ukrainian people as this fiction unfolds. The Basics

  3. Your Angel is beautiful. When the Dad was a young one he always wanted to learn how to play the harp.

  4. I enjoy your drawings, and your theme gives you an opportunity for redo’s, as you review drawings from years ago and can use the skills you have developed since the original drawing was made, to further develop the drawing. Call it serendipity, but I put your harp music on, and went to my next A to Z blog, and that blogger was talking about ways to stay calm. Your music selection is perfect for that. A great start, Cathy!

    1. Alana,

I hope my somewhat improved art skills are obvious. I’m glad you decided to just let the music play on while you moved on to another blogger. I do that or work on my own blog post frequently. It’s great to have background music playing.

  5. Lovely drawing of the weeping angel, and some nice harp music to go along with it! Have you heard the Harp Twins, Camille and Kennerly? They’re fantastic!

    1. John,

Yes, I’ve heard of the Harp Twins. I thought I had featured them but in searching my blog I can’t find them so I guess I just listened to them on YouTube. They are really good and their music videos are very much like what Lindsey Stirling does which is cool.

  6. Beautiful. You’re so talented.

    Loved the video. So relaxing.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  7. Not the weeping angel I was expecting, but nevertheless I enjoyed it! I look forward to B-Z very much.

  8. You are so talented, CK, I really love this painting of the weeping Angel and the mewsic is so relaxing😸Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

  9. Beautiful angel. You are off to a great start. I was planning to participate, but with my Sammy so sick, I can’t. XO

    1. Ellen,

I’m so sorry to read of Sammy’s decline in health. The important thing is taking care of little Sammy. Saying prayers for your furbaby! Thanks for dropping in for a visit, dear friend!

  10. Hi, Cathy!

Hooray, dear friend… the A to Z is underway for 2022! Congratulations on jumping in again this year, and happy April and April Fools’ Day to you!

I remember your lovely weeping angel from five years ago. The sight of her filling the entire frame is powerful and compelling. I can’t help wondering why she weeps. Perhaps she weeps because the world is filled with sin and misery. Whatever the reason, she is beautiful, nicely drawn and a pleasure to behold today brought back In Living Color. Appropriately, you gave us relaxing, calming harp instrumentals to start the day and the month. I look forward to joining you every step of the way as you present your offerings in this year’s A to Z. Once again, congratulations for deciding to take the challenge

Have a super day and I’ll see your at the band battle, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

It doesn’t seem like I’ve been sketching for 5-years. I’ve grown more comfortable with illustration attempts and working with color. Digital painting is probably a lot different from using the real stuff but that’s not a bad thing. This gives me ease to experiment with countless do-overs until I’m satisfied with the final work of art.

Yes, I believe my angel weeps because of how low people have fallen. Humanity, morality, and spiritually have been casted away by many. They have forgotten the teachings from their youth to treat others the way they want to be treated. Oh the world we live in! The only thing that gets me through life is my deep faith in God and my eternal destination.

Thanks for being the first to commenter in my 2022 A2Z challenge, my friend!
