A View To A Kill BOTB Results

In my recent BOTB, voting didn’t go the way I thought it would.  The challenge to find two cover artist I liked was difficult and then when I settled on them I was worried Tape Five would over shadow Skye Edwards because usually when I put a soft female vocalist against a male contender the majority seem to prefer the stronger male vocals.  However the opposite was true, Skye jumped out front in this battle and kept the lead right up to the end taking the win with a 9-5 victory!

We tried watching the film “Bliss” on Amazon but couldn’t get into it. It’s interesting Skye Edwards’ song, “You and I” was used in the movie.

If you enjoyed “You and I”, you may like Skye’s 2019 album KEEPING SECRETS.

A special thanks to everyone who showed up at the ballot box eager to cast a vote for your favorite cover artist. Participation is what fuels my continuation of doing these battles. Mark your calendar for my mid-month showdown on February 15th.

Normally, I’d put up a Tickle Me Tuesday to follow but I need to declutter my brain to get in-tune with the fast approach of the April A to Z Challenge. What’s next on CAAC? That my friend is a mystery to even me. I have my Monday music and BOTB posts scheduled through the end of March. That much you can count on but anything more I think I need to play it by ear. Subscribe via email to not miss a single post! Have a terrific day, my friends.

  1. Cathy, Hi Honey, I’m trying to find your phone number, and as soon as I do you’re going into my home phone book cuz as far as I’m concerned you are family for sure, and I’ll put it in a personal phone book I have for my few friends. You said to call you so would you email me your phone number I’m sorry I lost it again. It is again right??? So please accept my apology. Love Marie P.S. Do you know a girl named “Cheryl Masciarelli yes, she’s a blogger, and she reads, and that’s what her blog is about. I saw some one passed in her family and I want to write to her, Anyway CALL ME and give me your number again. SORRY!.

    1. Marie,

I sent you an email this morning before I came over to my blog. I don’t have comment notifications turned on, so I had no clue that you left this comment before now. No worries about the misplacing of my number. I’ll give you time to call me at your convenience. To answer your question, I don’t recognize the name Cheryl Masciarelli but that doesn’t mean I don’t know her blog if I knew it, though. There have been so many people who have lost loved ones in recent months. So sad!

  2. Both contenders in the Battle are good and I would have been happy with either one as the winner. Don’t stress over your blog, Cathy! We all get in a slump every now and then. Rock on! 😘

    1. Eugenia,

Like you, I would’ve been happy with either artist winning. I’m doing my best to not stress. I usually dish out more than I can handle occasionally and that’s what makes my head swim a bit. lol I am my own worse enemy when it comes to this stuff. I will do what I can and have fun doing it! 🙂

    1. Brian,

Yesterday, I was able to dig in a bit to get some ideas pulled together for my A2Z posts. Hopefully, I can began working on sketches and writing up my posts before too long but thankfully, I now have a direction. Thanks for stopping by to check out the winner in this round.

  3. I missed the voting blog. Darnital… I would have taken Skye in a whimsical heartbeat. That is one track I let play all the way through. It is magnificent.

The coyote sign is funny. 🙂

    1. Myke,

Not to worry, another battle is coming up and you can take part at that time. I’m glad you enjoyed Skye’s playlist. It is really good. I listened to it in its entirety.

  4. Oh hahahah love the fine print on the coyote sign! We have alwys had coyotes living nearby- no matter if we were in Oregon, California or Washington! They are prevalent everywhere! I like them as they keep the pesky rodents and garden bunnies from taking over! BUT be sure to keep the kitties inside!

    1. Kathe,

We’ve seen coyote in the Smoky’s and I believe our security camera picked up on once in our yard. I don’t mind that they keep mice away but I hope our bunny friends are like Bugs Bunny and able to outwit that coyote. lol

  5. First, I meant to say I hope Marie is doing ok and I am certain she is otherwise you would have heard. Hmm…I believe I voted for Take 5 but this gal does have a nice voice and she is quite stunning with that beautiful long neck. I love the coyote caution but they needed to add, beware of coyote dressed up like a sultry babe.

    1. Birgit,

I hope Marie is okay. I’d rather err on the side of checking in on someone rather than thinking all is well, you know? Oh yeah, I forgot about Wile E. Coyote dressing up like a female coyote. That was a hilarious cartoon. 🙂

  6. I stand by my choice of Tape Five, but the lady did a fine job. Never know what the outcome of these things might be. I was somewhat surprised by the results in my Battle, but it was kind of a pleasant surprise.

    1. Lee,

Tape Five did a great job and I loved discovering them for this battle. I’m sure you’d agree when we find the contenders to use in our battles that those chosen are already winners to make it to the showdown. Thanks for dropping to check to see who won.

  7. I’m not a fan of soft feminine voices in music, but obviously, most of your voters are. 🙂 Oh well, better luck next time and don’t worry. Whatever you decide to post, your followers will join you. I’m in a similar slump at the moment. Enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. Debbie,

I was really surprised the majority went with Skye. I totally wasn’t expecting that. You voted as I figured you would. I like Tape Five and would’ve been happy had they won. Thanks for dropping by, my dear!

    1. Mimi,

The thing I like about these battles is the exposure to new artists/songs. It’s truly a wonderful way to educate oneself with the research or participation. You don’t have to worry about being with the minority if you’re having fun ’cause that’s what I want – for you to have fun!

  8. She was by far the better choice of the two. I’m happy she won.

I love your funny. I had to biggify it and laughed out loud at the fine print. I also linked this post to Happy Tuesday.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  9. Hi, Cathy!

I hope you and DH had a nice weekend, dear friend Happy Tickle Me Tuesday! I will extend that greeting even though you are not posting that particular feature today. I can tell you are slammed and feeling some anxiety and pressure with the A to Z fast approaching. Only you can regulate the pace of your blogging activity. I’m with you no matter what you decide to do. I also want to thank you very very much for your kind reply on the Anni post. You and I are on the same page and in great shape, dear friend. I appreciate when you take time to offer a heartfelt reply such as that one.

Turning to this post, thanks for reporting the final tally in your latest BOTB. I noticed on day one that the votes were breaking fairly evenly. I voted for Skye Edwards because she reminded me of Sade and because the other act was a bit too quirky and gimmicky for my taste. It always feels good to be on the winning side, and I have been lucky in that regard in your battles of recent months. On “You And I,” the follow-up song you posted this morning, I’m sure you notice, as do I, how Skye’s intimate vocal gets right inside your head. You and I both respond favorably to a voice like hers and that particular recording technique. Can you imagine that song being used in a David Lynch thriller? There’s even more to like on Skye’s album Keeping Secrets. I could listen to her sweet, clear refined vocals all day long and never tire of them. She’s a gifted songstress. “Solid Air” is my favorite track. The song is filled with mystery and enchantment. The production is atmospheric, echo-drenched, conveying the impression of a ticking clock, and her vocals are ultra soulful. WOW, what a winner! “Monster Demons” is another killer. This set is certainly a far cry from a bland, ordinary, run-of-the-mill album filled with pop or jazz standards. These are edgy songs and bold, dynamic productions. “Exhale” is another super song on the album. I could imagine these songs being used in the soundtrack of a crime drama movie filled with danger, mystery, suspense, violence, etc. Can you hear it and see it? I’m totally blown away by this album, Cathy. Thanks so much for the introduction to this fabulous artist.

I burst out laughing when I read the fine print on that park sign. They touched all the bases there, from the ACME Corporation products (used as weapons) to the dropping of anvils from high places. Thanks for posting that hilarious sign!

I am still in awe of what I just heard here from Skye Edwards. What a find! Thank you for the morning mewsic and fun, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I appreciate you making time today to see how this battle went down. As I mentioned, I was quite surprised how the voting went in this round. I’m not disappointed and am glad there are others who like Skye’s soft vocals. It makes me happy that you enjoyed the playlist I shared. I didn’t pay any attention to the song titles, I just hit play to savoring her voice in the background while I composed this post. Oh yes, I can see David Lynch using Skye in one of his movies. She has the quality of past artists Lynch has used. I knew you’d get a chuckle out of that sign. Someone is very clever to have included those lines and I betcha it’s made a number of people smile or break out laughing. lol What a good sense of humor. Thanks for visiting, my friend. Have a good day!
