A Thanksgiving BOTB Edition

MAY 15th BOTB RESULTS

Here in the USA, we’re entering the thankful season.  Everyday should be as such not only for Americans but folks world wide. Anyway thanks and praise is my inspiration for today’s Battle of the Bands.   My Internet search lead me to one song and then another both by the same artist. I thought why not use them to let you decide which song you like the best.  That sounds good to me.

In this battle, my twice featured artist is the late reggae singer, Bob Marley.  I’m asking you to pick your favorite Marley song.

“Give Thanks And Praises”

Give thanks and praises to the Most-High (Jah!)
Give thanks and praises so high (so high)
He will not deceive us my brethren
He will only lead us again (again):
Oh, take that veil from off of your eyes
Look into the future of realize

Noah had three sons, Ham, Shem and Japheth (Ham, Shem and Japheth)
And in Ham is known to be the Prophet
Glory to Jah, the Prophet is come (through all these ages)
Glory to Jah, the Prophet has come (through all these stages)
When my soul was hurtin’ deep within
And I’m worrying to be free, desperately, yeah
So guide and protect I’n’I, O Jah – Jah
Through all these ages
Guide and protect I’n’I, O Jah – Jah
Through all these stages

Rastafari is his Name (Jah!) –
Rastafari is his Name (Jah!)
If Jah didn’t love I (love I)
If I didn’t love I (love I)
If Jah didn’t love I (love I)
If I didn’t love I
Would I be around today?
Would I be around to say:

Give thanks and praises, give thanks and praises
Give thanks and praises, give thanks and praises
Give thanks and praises, give thanks and praises

    1. Your comment didn’t go to Spam this time. Hooray! Your words did remind me I needed to check it and I’m glad that I did because I found a commenter who didn’t belong there. Thanks for voting for THANK YOU, LORD!

  1. CAThy! It’s That YOU!

Hey, this was a pretty neat idea for a featured Battle Of The Bands ‘Thanksgiving’ theme! (Thanksgiving — I always refer to it as “The Gateway To Christmas”.)

I enjoyed hearing both of these songs, but between the two I preferred ‘THANK YOU LORD’, as it had a bit more spunk and sounded a bit more joyful.

    Very nicely done, my friend!

    Bless & Be Blessed!!

    1. Stephen, I love how you see Christmas in Thanksgiving, which is precisely how we all should see these holidays. A thankful heart for what Jesus did for us by allowing Himself to be placed in this world as a baby is an amazingly selfless and loving act. How many of us would leave paradise to serve others who often didn’t understand you or your mission? Jesus is the reason for the season! I have your voted logged for THANK YOU LORD, my friend!

  2. Ha! I almost used Bob Marley for my battle! I’ve only ever had one tropical Thanksgiving, and the raggae sound fit right in 😉 Of the two, I like “Thanks and Praises” best.

  3. Thank you Lord is far more upbeat. That’s my choice.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. You prompted me to learn of Marley’s demise. I passed at a young age from a rare kind cancer that started in his big toe. I haven’t heard of this before. He went the alternative healing route which unfortunately didn’t work and the disease spread. How sad! He left behind some interesting music for all to enjoy. Thanks for visiting!

  4. I wasn’t in too much of a reggae mood this morn, but Marley is good if that’s where we go. It’s an interesting Thanksgiving direction though.

I like the brighter sound of the second song. And I like thanking the Lord.

      1. Reggae has a happy vibe and you’d think it’s something everyone would naturally gravitate toward but for me it doesn’t work that way. I really have to be in the mood for it. Thankfully, Bob’s songs were perfect for choices for my mood when I put this battle together. I have your vote recorded, darlin’. Thanks for playing along, Nicole! 😉

    1. I understand. It’s something gotta be in the mood for. Thanks for playing along and voting for THANK YOU LORD, my friend!
