This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is a decade of rock music. Our honorary co-hostess wants us to pick a decade and build a playlist of songs from the era. This is gonna be tricky. I’m sure as night follows day that a lot of overlaps and that’s okay when it’s a good tune then it’ll just pump me up all over again. I decided to use songs from our current decade. True it’s the beginning and for me I know little to nothing about what’s in circulation today, so most of the song titles are introductions and a few of the artists, as well but that’s the point of my collection – fresh material to feed my mewsic curiosities. Hit play to enjoy a nonstop experience!

DISCLOSURE…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
The past couple of weeks I played Monday Madness. Unfortunately, the hosts of this Q&A meme felt it didn’t generate enough interest and cancelled it. You can still get better acquainted with me by reading yesterday’s Sunday Stealing response. That’s a wrap for now. Have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

I like what you did with the theme! That gave me a ton of introductions to music I’ve not heard yet. 😉 Bon Jovi is always a favorite, so I love that you lead with him. This is going to be an interesting decade for sure! Thanks for the rockin’ dance, Cathy! 🙂
I knew three of the songs. Was overjoyed to see a Kansas song in there; I loved them in the 70’s and I saw them in concert (I think there were only two original members, but you never would have known) last year. They tied for best video with Five Finger Death Punch. I am quite familiar with “A Little Bit Off Today” and the video was both funny and sympathetic to the theme. I generally don’t like F bombs in songs but this song needed the obscenities to work. Avenged Sevenfold – I like a lot of their songs and I was a bit surprised to find this song (which I didn’t know) in your lineup. I also enjoyed how some of the groups worked their videos around the quarantine. I was thinking, Bon Jovi must have already filmed his. Here’s to you, Cathy – a most original decade playlist, indeed.
Such a great and classic song list there. So very nice.
Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, Patrick! I’m boogieing your way soon. 🙂
Interesting that you picked this very decade. There are those who would say that we’re just in the first year of it, but I know how you worked it. Nice choices of songs!
John,
That’s right we’re in the first year of this decade so I just looked for songs that released this year. I guess I didn’t play exactly by the theme since I can’t count the whole decade yet but I was certain any direction I went would be done by another, so to keep things interesting I sought out current songs. Thanks for joining me, my friend!
Good decade!
Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, Mimi!
Actually put Bon Jovi into the M10 shuffle last week, we’ll see if it catches on with me. New Bon Jovi and new Blue Oyster Cult at the same time might shake the place down!
LOL, shake the place down sounds good to me! Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me. Have a boogietastic week!
Haven’t heard most of those but nice choices!
Athena & Marie,
Happy to share these new picks with you, my furriend. Great to have you on the dance floor!
Those songs are all new to me, but I haven’t kept up with much new music for a long long time.

Tossing It Out
Lee,
I don’t keep up with what’s current, either. Most of it I don’t like but I found these liking to my ear.
…well I struck out this week, other than Kansas I don’t kknow a thing!
Tom,
No worries if you didn’t know most of these because I didn’t, either. Kansas is a great oldie band!
Hey Girlfriend, you are really rockin’ today! You’re really rockin’ today although I’ve never heard these I guess I just love my older music too much to change the channel, but sometimes I do. I just let this one roll on until the end! Great tunes. Hope you had a great time pickin’ these tunes out too! Have a great day, stay healthy and don’t forget that mask! HUGS
Marie,
Older mewsic is the best but I like making new discoveries to mix things up a bit. Thanks for joining me for this dance, my friend!
Several of those we didn’t know but we like them!
Brian,
I’m glad to introduce to you some new tunes!
Awww on these two cute little ones. Such innocence.
I love your playlist. I always enjoy your music.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
Sandee,
Wee ones are precious, aren’t they? Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, sweetie!
All great choices, Cathy! I won’t lie – I was a little worried when I saw you chose the current decade, but am very pleasantly surprised with your song choices for today.
Hey Mary,
I’m happy that my playlist was a nice surprised. It’s a bit different from my normal mewsic picks. Thanks for boogieing with me!
very fun toe tapping post!
Kathe,
I hope you did more than tap those toes. lol Have a boogietastic week, dearie!
Alright Girl you are hitting all the right buttons. I love the music of Bon Jovi. I really love this blogging you are doing with the music. Enjoy your Monday.
Nicole,
Who doesn’t like Bon Jovi? Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, darlin’! Please feel free to boogie with me anytime. 😉
You Rock Girl! and we rock with you ♪♫♪ Your songs are great and that video of Kansas was pawsome. Real powerful mewsic in every way. The Big Bang was a little scary, but we closed our eyes and just listened to the mewsic. Pawkisses for a Happy Swinging Monday and Week ahead🐾😽💞
Binky,
Sorry The Big Bang scared you. I don’t like big bangs but that song really makes you wanna get to your feet, don’t you agree? Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, little furriend! 😉
Nice choices. Bon Jovi is looking much older these days- so am I . 🙂 Thanks for hosting. Have a great day! XO
Ellen,
We’re all finding ourselves getting older with each passing day. It’s better than the alternative, right? 🙂 Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my dear!
Ellen,
We’re all getting a little older these days but it’s better than the alternative, right? Thanks for boogieing with me, my friend.
Any time you play Bon Jovi I am there…
Robin,
Sometimes I forget how much I like some of those older 80s bands, like Bon Jovi until I hear them again. 🙂
Obviously, everything on this playlist is new to me. My favorite song was probably Limitless and I was a little surprised how similar the music of Set Me Free was to it. My favorite video was Kansas, Jets Overhead. There were flashback moments of the late sixties. I didn’t realize they were still around.
Driller,
I didn’t pick up on the similarities. I went back to listen to them again but my ears aren’t picking up what you’re hearing unless it has to do with softness of the melody. Could that be it? Kansas rocks! Thanks for stopping by to sample my playlist, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
We wouldn’t know where to begin with what is really in right now. Mom is stuck in the 80’s and likes to listen mostly to that music, but her station plays some new stuff too.
The 80s was a great decade for mewsic. I almost went down that avenue but decide to broaden my mewsic education with these (re)discoveries. Have a boogietastic day!
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Awww-some 4M Rocktoberfest Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.
It’s been many years since I last saw Bon Jovi. It was great to hear “Limitless,” a song from the band’s new album 2020, and to see Jon performing it in the video. Jon seems to be aging well. I remember when he branched out into acting and had a recurring role in ten episodes of Ally McBeal. In the “Limitless” video scenario, a young couple busts loose from the conformity of their daily lives and runs free in the city at night, chased by a guy in a suit who seems determined to haul them in and put them back in their places. They wind up taking a Butch and Sundance style leap of faith to the street below and manage to escape. In recent years I have gotten to know several great rock and metal bands from Sweden. Smash Into Pieces is new to me and I like their alternative sound on “Godsent” and “Big Bang.” As you can see, it is easy to get the band name confused with the song name. In the case of “Mindreader,” that’s the name of the song, and A Day to Remember is the name of the Ocala, Florida, metalcore band that recorded it. I appreciate the harder stuff you are presenting today. It’s nice to know that the Topeka-based rock band Kansas is still together. I enjoyed “Jets Overhead,” a song from their new 2020 album The Absence of Presence. Death Punch always hits hard, and I appreciated their song and video shot around the coronavirus pandemic. Song #2 by Avenged Sevenfold aka A7X was left out of your play lineup. I went to YouTube and listened to “Set Me Free” and again enjoyed the robust rock/metal style of that California band.
Thank you for the Monday morning mewsic, dear friend Cathy. I wish you a safe and happy week ahead!
Tom,
We had a nice weekend, managing to get some things done on Friday but Saturday and Sunday was drizzly. We hope to finish up some of our outside activities this week since the forecast looks promising. I know you prefer an edger rock vibe and am happy you liked my assorted tunes featured in my playlist. I agree Bon Jovi is aging well. This playlist is a bit different then what I normally share but I enjoyed making the discovery of each song title. I may have to investigate some of these newbie groups’ songs to see what else I might find that I like. I’m glad you liked my line up. Thanks for letting me know track 2 wasn’t listed. I’m not sure what happened but I added it to my playlist. Thanks for dropping by, my friend. Have a good week!
