A Barn Near Keller Bend Park

Posted on September 6, 2017

Welcome back to (not-so) Wordless Wednesday Kittens & Dawgs! This month I will share photographs of barns I’ve taken recently or past in which I saw the original followed with new image(s) created with one or more  photo-editing apps.

Today’s photo I snapped near Keller Bend Park in Knoxville this summer. It was a dreary day and I failed getting the exposure right. No picture is a complete loss thanks to technology.

In Pixelmator I adjusted the Curve lightening the exposure, brushed some additional clouds overhead, and added a textured layer. In the next photo, I changed to an autumn texture layer selecting the blending option as “Subtract”.

I liked how the roof of the barn kinda glowed giving it a sci-fi feel, so I took it another step by adding a “light leak” effect to the image.

This gives the viewer that “close encounter” of the extraterristrestrial type sense. Be prepared. Have Reese’s Pieces in your pocket and be ready to for someone who needs to phone home.

Thanks for dropping by, Driller! Yes, playing with difficult photo-edit filters is fun. These effects change the ordinary into something special. Have a good week!

I recall the name Keller’s Bend, but I don’t recall where this is. The photos are very nice–surreal.

      Lee,

Keller Bend Park is off Northshore. It’s not far from where Pellissippi Parkway crosses North Shore. There was no place to speak of to park, except on the street and we weren’t going to do that to chedk out the park. Judging from what we saw, the trail head was grown up. I don’t know if that’s the way it always is or they just don’t tend to it. Whatever the reason, it didn’t appeal to me. Thanks for visiting.

      Shilpa,

The field is full of beautiful greenery on this drizzly, cloudy day. I want to go back after the leaves fall on a day with blue skies to snap more photos of this barn. It’s really a lovely one. Where I stood to take this picture just to my back is an impressive subdivision full of very nice homes. It seems odd to find this barn just across the road from it on a dead-end street where the park begins. Thanks for stopping by and linking up!
