4M Dance to “Songs that Inspire” You!

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me 117th edition!

Kayla @ The Electric Element submitted this week’s theme. Thanks, girl!

Believe it or not, I have not seen the movie, Chariot’s of Fire, but every time I hear the theme song I feel like I can do just about anything. How about you?

Often times, I’m inspired by the melody of a song, not the words. Lyrics usually are too unclear for me to understand. If a song motivates me, then it speak to my heart first.  The next three songs are new to me, but these sparked a new energy in me this morning.

My last song pick for today is familiar by most, if not all of you. Irene Cara’s 80s hit will not only get you up on your feet dancing this morning (is that why we’re all here?), but it serves to remind you & me to hang tight to our passion and make it happen.

First when there’s nothing
but a slow glowing dream
that your fear seems to hide
deep inside your mind.

All alone I have cried
silent tears full of pride
in a world made of steel
made of stone.

Well, I hear the music,
close my eyes, feel the rhythm,
wrap around, take a hold
of my heart.

What a feeling.
Bein’s believin’.
I can have it all, now I’m dancing for my life
Take your passion
and make it happen.
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life.

Now I hear the music,
close my eyes, I am rhythm.
In a flash it takes hold
of my heart.

What a feeling.
Bein’s believin’
I can have it all, now I’m dancing for my life.

What a feeling.
What a feeling I AM MUSIC NOW
Bein’s believin’. I AM RHYTHM NOW
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life.

What a feeling. YOU CAN REALLY HAVE IT ALL
What a feeling. PICTURES COME ALIVE WHEN I CALL
I can have it all I CAN REALLY HAVE IT ALL
Have it all PICTURES COME ALIVE WHEN I CALL
CALL CALL CALL CALL WHAT A FEELING (fade)

  1. I haven’t seen Chariots of Fire either. Thank you for featuring the theme song I’m a step closer to watching a new (to me) film. It sounds grand, big, wonderful.

  2. Just came back for a 2nd round. I do see how Chariots of Fire Motivates.
I agree, music always speaks to the heart first. I like that!

  3. Oh yeah, Mariah Carey is definitely still in her Diva status. Not sure if she can still reach those notes she use too, but she still has soul. Your orchestra music I’ve never heard. I really don’t listen to that much. Some stuff I do, but FLASH DANCE talk about inspiring. FABULOUS Choice My friend! YOU DEFINITELY ROCK! Have a great week! I couldn’t have picked a better person to co-host with us. The vote was unanimous I might say!

  4. What a great bunch of inspiring songs! The Chariots of Fire has always been a favorite. That was the first sheet music my hubby (before he was hubby) bought for me. Have a great week!

  5. Loved your picks and yes, I agree with you Chariots of Fire just does something with the soul when you hear it!
Oh, and I love “What a Feelin” the beat and words, just motivates you!! Have a wonderful Monday!!

  6. I’ve never seen the movie either (which doesn’t seem right for a runner) but I think that Chariots of Fire has that effect on everyone. Flashdance inspires me to get up and dance really fast in legwarmers. lol

    Fun inspirational picks!

  7. Love Chariots of Fire…great movie and great song. I remember the first time I played it on the piano – felt so wonderful. I really should start playing again..

When you see the lyrics to Flashdance, it really is quite inspiring, isn’t it. another great movie and song.

  8. Oh you have some good ones for sure. That last one no doubt gets you moving! My post will not be up until tomorrow so make sure to come by.
