Last week I shared a few pictures taken in Banner Elk, North Carolina from our day trip last month. I’m going to put up the last of my photos from that day. In Valle Crucis is where the first Mast General Store started. When we came upon this store, we first thought it was the original MGS but it’s not. The store shingle clearly says “Annex”. It’s a pretty place nonetheless, so I snapped a few pictures. It was terribly breezy day and the wind definitely had a bite but it was so pretty.
On our way to Blowing Rock, it was just a short drive before we came to the original Mast General Store. We didn’t go in. In fact, we haven’t been in any store since the pandemic began unless it was absolutely necessary and that’s only been a handful of times. This is not one of those times. We were happy to admire the store from the outside. One day after things settle a bit, we’ll go back to the area since it isn’t a huge deal for us so we can browse through this quaint old establishment.
We drove through downtown Blowing Rock. The store fronts were all decorated pretty but there was too much traffic to pause to snap any photos and the streets were too busy to be on. We just enjoyed the drive through.
