Welcome to round 16 of Battle of the Bands! I’m taking a break from my James Bond theme song series, to get into the Christmas spirit and what better way to do that then with a holiday song sing-off, right?
First a little announcement, today I’m kicking off my Song-A-Day (S.a.D) Christmas Challenge and I’m cheating a bit by using my first battle showdown for December for the challenge. Don’t tell Santa, okay? I wouldn’t want to make it on his naughty list again this year.
American soul singer, Donny Hathaway originally recorded This Christmas in 1970. I can’t believe this song is that old! All this time I thought Chris Brown was the artist behind the song. His rendition is good but I have to be honest, Hathaway blows Brown out of the water as well as other cover artists but let’s not let that stop us from enjoying others displaying their talent and holiday cheer performing this old tune.
First up we have two gals’ acoustic cover with beautiful harmony. Listen to Megan Davies on guitar with Jaclyn!
Next, I started with one artist when another cover followed right after perking my ears. This version was better suited to go against my first pick, listen to decide for yourself if Michael Land gets your vote!
Alrighty, now for the big moment! Who gets your vote? Will it be the ladies – Megan & Jaclyn or Michael?
Polls close noon (EST) on Dec. 6ST!
Next week, same time slot I’ll be back to announce the winner in this round, so be sure to mark your calendar to see if your favorite artist wins in this showdown. That’s it for today. I encourage you hop over to some of my fellow BoTBers below to see what they are sharing. I’ll be back tomorrow for another Christmas S.a.D and I hope to see you here! X💋X💋, Cathy
