Today’s alphabet ‘L’ prompt, I going with Prince Eric’s chef, Louis.
Hopefully, you can see the similarity between my illustrated version and the film character from my sight seen attempt. Louis reminds me a lot of Lumiere from the 1991 Beauty and the Beast animated film but the voice-over actor, René Auberjonois, did not do that character. In The Little Mermaid animated flick, Louis is introduced singing while trying to make Sebastian part of the dinner menu. Don’t get your knickers in a bunch, it’s all harmless fun that’s meant for laughs, not sneers and jeers.

This concludes the second week in the A to Z Challenge. In case you don’t know the weekends are my time away from cyberspace, especially when DH has an off-Friday like he did yesterday. Although I’m not here, doesn’t mean I don’t wanna play catch up with you, so pleases leave a breadcrumb (direct post URL) in comments so I can, as well as others, find you more easily. I think I’ll have to watch the movie again… I remember something about Sebastian almost being dinner, but I can’t remember the scene.

Hi Cathy!
Hope your weekend was good.
Louis looks lively in the sketch. The way you have drawn him – it seems he is singing and fully immersed in the passion for cooking! I like his moustache 😁 and his jovial facial expression
Kislaya,
Chef Louis is happily preoccupied with his cooking. Looks like he’s working on a big ole pot of soup.
You have created a great take on this character. I love the face and you captured the character well. I am so very sad because of Notre Dame and cried but I believe it will be built back up because Germany could rebuild cathedrals and other famous landmarks.
Birgit,
The mews about Notre Dame was a shock. I had no idea Jesus’ crown of thorns was housed there but thankfully were rescued by a brave man. Hopefully, the damage can be repaired and few artifacts lost in the blaze. I haven’t heard the extent of the damages.
for many years I was Chef Keith but I’m not sure I was ever that happy looking!
Keith,
You were a chef professionally? That’s cool! I hope your menu items didn’t try to make a great escape like Sebastian. lol
that’s a good sketch and a little comical – definitely made me chuckle.
Sandy,
My drawing made you chuckle. Oh, that great!
Well done! He was a funny guy.
Mimi,
The scene with Chef Louis attempting to capture Sebastian is funny and brings a smile to my face after all this time.
Good rendering Cathy!
Thank you, Jade!
As I’ve mentioned, I’m probably one of the few people in the United States who has never seen The Little Mermaid, so I had to go onto the interwebs to see what Chef Louis looked like a la Disney. You did a good job! especially like the mustache; it really makes him who he is.
Alana,
You’re not the only one of my readers who haven’t seen The Little Mermaid but thankfully with Internet resources just a click away, you can find out just about anything.
Alana,
You aren’t the only one of my readers who hasn’t seen The Little Mermaid. The cool thing is that’s okay with Internet resources just at your fingertip you can learn about things you don’t know about a lot easier in modern times than 30+ years ago.
Fabulous job on Louis! The sketch made me smile, remembering… what a character!
Trudy,
Chef Louis is quite the character and wanted so much to include Sebastian on his dinner menu but the little crab wasn’t having any part of his plans. I can’t say that I blame him.
I can almost hear him singing now! Great job girlfriend especially in the mustache area! hahaha Totally pictorial of his character for sure. Hope you’re having a great weekend and the weather is great for your both.
Marie,
It does look like Chef Louis is singing over his shoulder, doesn’t he? 🙂
Great job of the chef. I am impressed with all the drawings you have done so far. Have anice weekend. XO
Ellen,
Drawing is a great fun passion that I love to pursue daily when possible. Thanks for popping in over the weekend, my friend!
Great portrayal of that chef, Cathy. That was a pretty funny scene. Happy Saturday!
Janet,
Yep, it brought back some fun memories!
Right. Jerry Orbach was Lumiere. One of my favorite actors. Rene Auberjonois is always good, too. Nice sketch!
John,
Not being too good with names I had to look Rene up and then I recognized him. I’m trying to figure out which TV series I know him from but he’s been in many things over the years.
Rene was in “Benson,” as I recall. He also made appearances on “MAS*H” and “Wonder Woman” and a host of others.
John,
I probably remember Rene from Benson. Thanks for the clueing me a bit on where I’ve spotted him on TV.
We do love that happy face!
Brian,
He’s a man who loves to cook, especially seafood. That’s something you probably like quite well. 🙂
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Saturday and “L” day, dear friend!
You did a fine job rendering Louis the chef from The Little Mermaid. I followed your link and watched the scene in which Louis prepares fish fillets and tries to toss Sebastian the crab into the cooking pot, resulting in a whimsical battle between the two. It was nice to catch a glimpse of your C prompt character Carlotta at the end of the scene. I appreciate how you drew Louis with his back arched, implying that he is in the middle of his merry song and dance while experiencing the joy of cooking. His extremely long handlebar mustache, facial expression, bow-tie and chef’s hat are all nicely drawn, too, and the backdrop which includes his pots and cooking utensils, is interesting.
Way to go, Cathy! Two weeks into the A to Z and you have me entertained, educated and impressed with your artistic ability. Enjoy your weekend, dear friend!
Tom,
It’s taking me time to catch up from last Friday. I’m working backward on the days. lol Chef Louis was a fun sketch opportunity and I got a kick out of revisiting the video clip from the movie. Thanks for all your support and encouragement, my friend!
