Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! I was away in Blogosphere all weekend but if you’re a regular here then you know that’s normal for me. To all my gal friends, I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day and my guy pals did you remember to give you favorite gal who’s a mom a free pass? I’ll have to update ya on my Mother’s Day happenings tomorrow because I’m writing this post a head but knowing DH as I do, I’m sure he treated me nothing short of the Princess that he makes me feel! Okay, it’s Monday and you know what that means. It’s time to boogie!! Are you ready to groove to some mewsic? This week’s theme is “your choice mewsic picks” and in honor of DS’s 24th bday on the 2nd and DD#2’s 28th birthday today, I am sharing hits from their birth years. WARNING…playlists are long!. You may want the tunes to play in the background with my site minimize while you’re doing other things. That’s what I often times do. 😉
I composed my first playlist for DD#2 from this list at Wikipedia and these songs topped the chart in 1990.
Which song(s) did you like best from playlist#1?
I used Wikipedia again to come up with this playlist of 10 top charters from DS’s birth year, 1994.
Which song(s) did you like from playlist #2?

I’ll see ya around the cyber block! Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for my second round of Battle of the Bands!

You are truly blessed, my friend! Love the song lists you created – can’t choose a favorite, because they’re all awesome! 🙂 Well, you know, you do have good taste and all. 😉 Sorry I’m so late – I’m trying to catch up from last week and start this week off right, too! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Have a great night, and ‘see’ you on tomorrow’s dance floor today! 😉
Stacy,
No apologies needed. Just get around whenever it’s easy for you & if life is too hairy then don’t worry about it. I understand. Have a good week!
I have some “secret pleasures” – songs I shouldn’t like but I do, and one of them is Ice, Ice Baby. OK, it sampled “Under Pressure” but Vanilla Ice made the song into something totally different, with an addictive bass line. It only gets better with time. It’s such a wonderful way to start the morning. I’m glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day – Baskin Robins was a part of my life in my late teens and early 20’s but I haven’t had it in over 30 years.
Oh Cathy, I’m so glad you get to be loved well!!
And you have all my favorite music here!! I was just listening to them yesterday!!! Oooooh
Thanks for the quotes and music.
Have a blessed week!
Colette,
I am blessed. God couldn’t have been any kinder or loving by placing such a wonderful man in my life. Thank you for stopping by for a dance. Have a lovely week, my friend!
Wishing many happy returns of the day to your precious children!
Mimi,
Thank you for the bday wishes for my kiddies. It’s hard to believe they are grown. Wasn’t it just yesterday they stood knee height? Boy, it sure seems so!
Happy Birthday to your son and daughter! Great spark today. Sorry I didn’t join the mewsic hop again this week, I hope to next week. XO
Ellen, all is good. Just hit the dance floor whenever you want. Thanks for the bday greetings for my kiddies. Have a sparkletastic week!
I wish I could say I listened but I’m a bad girl because I don’t have the time right now. I have blogs to look at before I sleep. I hope your Mother’s Day was a good one.
Birgit,
You just do what you can, when you can. I get that totally! I have to push off long playlist for another day often times but it gives me something to listen the following day while I do things in Blogosphere, so that works out quite well. Thanks for visiting and M-Day wishes, dearie!
Although I was a big Madonna fan back in the day, my favorite from the first list is Nothing Compares 2 U. I actually looked this song up last month and played it. It has not gotten old. It’s sooo good!
Linger is my favorite from list 2. I was listening to that song over and over again when Dolores O’Riordan died recently. I hunted down all my Cranberries CDs and listened to them. I was heartbroken.
I hope you had a great Mother’s Day!
Kimberly,
Thanks for dancing with me. I remember hearing the mews about O’Riordan passing. Oddly, I did not remember her or the Cranberries during the career span. I somehow stumbled upon them in recent years and liked their vibes. It’s always sad when a favorite celebrity dies.
Interesting… I had never heard that one by Sting, Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart, and here both you and Patrick had it in your lists. A couple of good lists here! I’ve saved both so I can listen later, like you suggested.
John,
Yeah, that was interesting that Patrick and I picked the same song to feature today. 🙂 I’m glad you’ll come back to listen to my playlists later when you have more time to enjoy. Thanks for being such an excellent co-host this month and as always a loyal blog buddy!
Nothing wrong with anything from the lips of Michael Bolton. Nice.
Jacqui,
Michael Bolton has a wonderful voice!
You picked my favorite on the first one, but the Power of Love is my pick on the second.
Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend. Big hugs. ♥
Sandee,
Celine Dion was DD#1 favorite artist when she was a teen. DH got her Celine’s signature perfume which she adored. Oh, the memories!
Cathy, these are great songs that you picked. I don’t think I can pick a favorite. As they all hold some really great memories for me. Celine Dion, Paula Abdul, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey… uh oh… don’t tell anyone that I might secretly enjoy pop music from the 80s and 90s 🙂
Looking forward to your battle tomorrow 🙂

Mary,
Your secret is safe. I won’t let the Cathy out of the bag that you like the 80s & 90s pop mewsic. 😀 Thanks for sharing this dance with me!
Happy Mother’s Day! Happy Monday! Wow, I love anything by Michael Bolton! You’ve got great looking kids. Sending hugs to you and yours!
Thanks, Eugenia! I have to agree with you about my kids. Do you think I’m a bit biased? 😀
Biased and blessed! 😊
Beautiful songs. I can’t believe that we picked a same tune-All for One. What are the chances of that happening. Beautiful playlists for your kids. Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Patrick,
That’s cool, we were in sync with song choice, “All For Love”. The odds of this happening for ‘freebie’ week is very slim but somehow we did it!
Hi, Cathy!
I am happy to learn that you had a great Mother’s Day and it is nice of you to love your daughter and sister right back and celebrate their birthdays with these Monday playlists. I remember that song by Michael Bolton and it was a hoot watching him as an actor on the TV series Fresh Off The Boat playing himself in a role that had him becoming temporary co-owner of Cattleman’s Ranch steakhouse. I also remember when Paula Abdul first caught fire. Her hit music video for “Opposites Attract,” played frequently on the MTV station where I worked, was inspired by the Gene Kelly film Anchors Aweigh in which Kelly dances with Jerry Mouse from the Tom & Jerry cartoons. Janet Jackson, Madonna and Whitney Houston were three of the biggest artists of this period when urban R&B dance and hip hop became dominate styles of mewsic. The iconic Sinéad O’Connor video was another frequent flyer on my station. I remember her ultra short-cropped hair style creating quite a stir. As I go along and come to Wilson Phillips I realize how much your playlist resembles the typical playlist at my TV station. All these vids were big! I think I already told you that Mrs. S and I recently watched a 1995 ep. of the Ellen sitcom in which Ellen made reference to Mariah Carey, reminding us that the diva was already a veteran and a super star by the mid 90s. I also remember the splash made by Nelson, the mewsically inclined twin sons of Ricky Nelson and Kristin Nelson. Kris Nelson was the sister of actor Mark Harmon, star of NCIS. Kris died a couple of weeks ago. The announcement was made via Facebook by her actress daughter Tracy Nelson, best known for playing a nun on The Father Dowling Mysteries.
On your sister’s set it was nice to be reminded of the international hit single “The Sign” by Ace of Base, the third best selling group from Sweden behind ABBA and Roxette (the latter a group included on your daughter’s playlist). I also remember “Stay” by Lisa Loeb and the selections by the quiet storm soul group Boyz II Men. A few of the other artists and songs in that block are new to me.
Thank you for this morning’s mewsical wake-up, dear friend Cathy, and have a super week!
Tom,
Thank you for joining me so early this morning. I’m trying to do my rounds before I need to get going on some chores. The 90s produced some iconic stars in the mewsic industry and there’s nothing like flashing back to the era watching these videos. It’s hard to believe that my darling daughter (DD#2) is 28 today and just a few short weeks ago, darling son (DS) hit 24. The years go by way too fast. I was happy when DS met us for ice cream yesterday. I got a scope of Jamoca Almond Fudge which is one of my favorite Baskin Robbins flavors. Have a pawsome week, dear friend.
Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day… mind was very nice indeed. Michael Bolton was at the Arcada Theater right by my house last week I believe it was. I wish I could’ve seen him that would truly be awesome. Love the way he sings. Great tunes here girlfriend… but alls well that ends well… HUGS
Marie,
Yes, I had a lovely Mother’s Day. DH took me to Culver’s for a burger and fries, then afterwards to my surprise DS met us at Baskin Robins for ice cream. That really made my day feel more complete to spend it with at least one of my kiddos. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me today, my friend!
