The Best is Yet to Come (Mike & the Mechanics) helps to put me in the groove for this week’s writing prompts offered up by our lovely hostess Kat from Mama’s Losin’ it. I’m electing to use #2 A list of 11 ideas to make this your best year yet.
- A deeper commitment to weight loss & keep said lost weight off for good.
- Daily exercise & better eating habits.
- Finding & buying a new home.
- Getting a work-at-home job to contribute to our family income.
- Celebrating the holidays in our new home with our family.
- Doing away with unwanted and unused items while becoming more organized.
- Sketch often purrfecting my art ability.
- Generally get more creative cooking, baking, and crafting.
- Participating in more writing challenges!
- To complete one of my children’s stories and to create my own illustrations.
- Getting said “children’s book” published.
I almost considered going with Kat’s last prompt, Describe a time or moment when a stranger helped you but I wrote about it several years ago here. There was another time a stranger helped that I shared but can’t seem to find it in my post archives. When I find it, I’ll be sure to include it here. Darn if I don’t need to go through every post to modify the tags. In the early years, let’s face it I didn’t do a good job because I really didn’t know what I was doing. I’m a slower learner and am fixing the problem as I go along now.
I’m thankful for the first 2019 snowfall. It was beautiful and despite the cold, gray morning the sun came out in the afternoon. Just look at that blue sky in the above photo. The greatest thing is travel was not a problem for local motorists allowing DH to get home with no worries. This is always a concern because Knoxville is horribly equipped to deal with bad roads but these days they salt the daylight out of the major arteries around town. That’s a huge help but often leaves secondary roads unattended to and at the mercy of Mother Nature to clear. However, this wasn’t much of an issue. I think the previous warm days kept the earth heated enough to cause this snowfall to melt away quickly. I’m also very thankful that last night’s low is the last one in our immediate forecast to dip into the teens. When the temperatures drop below freezing then oh, sista can I ever tell the difference! BRRR!
I’m joining Thankful Thursday and Ten Things of Thankful. What are you thankful for this Thursday?
I’m going to close with another song bearing the same name as the first, except it’s by Contemporary Christian artist, Matty Mullins.
Tomorrow is DH’s off-Friday but I hope you’ll come by to vote in my newest round of Battle of the Bands! 😉

All worthy goals!
Thanks, John! We’ll see how they pan out for 2019. We took a hard stab at the housing market this weekend. We knocked out 9 properties on our list. There were only two that interested us but then after going over the specs on one listing we crossed it off after we learned it has a septic tank. The other place is really nice but may be a bit too expensive. We may request a viewing, though. Who knows, it might drop in price. cross fingers & say a little prayer
I feature recipes Monday’s at my blog. I bought a Taste of Home magazine full of “skinny” slow cooker recipes (healthy) I’m going to be trying recipes from for awhile. I got tired of Pinterest recipes not always “working.” Today is a French Country Pork Loin with Apples, Onions and Prunes in slow cooker. I had to buy “Herbs De Province” for it—never heard of it before, but LOVE it! It’s got heather in it, plus a little of every summer herb.
Very good list of ideas! As you know, I am getting rid of a lot as well! Here’s to us achieving and maintaining our goals!
I love your list of goals and have many of the same! Can’t wait to read more about your children’s books!
My main thing is to not worry and try to be as happy as I can be. I’ve got a lot to be thankful for and, God willing, I hope blessings continue my way.

11 powerful goals, i hope you can tackle them all to a degree, even though some of them may take longer to accomplish.
Great list, and good luck with all of it!
I’m decluttering and organizing since we’re hoping to downsize soon. Easier said than done!
That’s quite a list – you sound determined and hopeful – and that’s great! I like the videos – I always forget about Mike and the mechanics until someone posts something about them. I use to have a “cassette” years ago by them. I enjoyed the story of your car battery and the helper that was there for you.
I am sure you can do all this and more. I can’t wait to get your children’s book for my great nieces. XO
Impressive list, Cathy. I wish you every success! 🙂 Nbrs. 1 and 2 are always difficult for me. Most of our socializing revolves around food and when it comes to exercise, it’s hard to get motivated, sometimes. That’s a beautiful photo! We are currently breaking records for coldest temperatures ever and spring can’t come soon enough! I’m thankful to have a warm and cozy home. My heart goes out to all those living on the streets and struggling to avoid hypothermia.
I need to do some of those things too. Great list. I hope you do most if not all of them.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Cathy. Love you. ♥
That was a terrific list and the snow sure is pretty…as long as it’s not here! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Awesome list of things! I can help with the creative cooking and baking! I love trying new things. The Instant Pot is my new favorite kitchen toy! Do you have one? I’ll try to share some recipes over on my blog soon.
