Thank you for including me in your Monday, kittens & dawgs and for joining m for the best dance party in Blogosphere with the “Monday’s Music Moves Me” that I co-host along with these incredible ladies, Marie, Stacy, and Colette. This week’s theme is “Sci-Fi Movie or TV Show Mewsic”
I opened with A Place in Time used for the popular short-run TV series, The 4400. I love this song and I own. Today, I’m sharing with you theme mewsic for some of my favorite sci-fi TV series. All of these programs are available on Netflix streaming other than my last selection and it’s on Amazon Prime.
I hope you enjoyed my sci-fi picks and I can’t wait to listen to your selections.
What sci-fi mewsic moves you? 😉
Thank you for joining me today. The past couple of weeks have been a bit stressful and with DH’s eye surgery last Thursday then I’m really wiped out! He’s doing good after his retina re-attachment surgery but we learned he’ll more than likely need cataract surgery in that eye within six months and there’s always the possibility for a retina detachment reoccurrence in the same eye. Please remember DH in your prayers. Alrighty, folks the rest of the week I’m preparing for the A2Z challenge and won’t be hanging out in Blogosphere but I hope you’ll decide to you join me on Saturday for Art Sketching Through the Alphabet!
I’m playing along with TMP again and if you’re interested the rules are simple; base on the theme of the week pick three to five movies and tell us why you picked them, then link up with Wandering through the Shelves. This week’s movie theme is Television Edition: Superheroes/Super Powers.
Perhaps my picks are a bit on the far reach side when you think of Superheroes/Super Powers but these series definitely fall into this category I think. My first selection is the short run series
My first selection is the short run series The 4400. In the pilot, scientist track what appears to be a comet on a collision course with earth but when more than 4000 missing people step out of that bright light, the government is mystified with their whereabouts and how they might be infected. It’s up to special agents Diana Skouris (Jacqueline McKenzie) and Tom Baldwin (Joel Gretsch ) to unravel the secrets of each returnee.
This is a series we really enjoyed and hated it came to an end. We hoped it someone would reboot the series but that has yet to happen. The 4400 is currently on Netflix.
Haven is another unlikely series to fall in the Super Powers prompt but why not go with it. Haven Maine is a quaint coastal community where things aren’t always what they seem. Some of the folks in this tiny town are afflicted with “Troubles”; some call curse and others benefit from them. Special FBI agent, Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) shows up on in Haven tracking a lead when she gets tangled in Haven’s weirdness with HPD Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant).
We got tangled in this series. It’s one of our all-time favorites. We watched the shows last episode last night. The producers brought it to an end for some reason but it was great! Perhaps rating dropped. I don’t know but I’m hoping for a spin-off. *cross fingers* You can watch all the complete series on Netflix!
For my last pick, I decided to pull something from long ago past. If I were a guy then some might think I’m a sexist with my selection and some women might think it’s degrading but I say is, “Oh, poppycock!” One of my favorite childhood Superheros series from 1975, Wonder Woman starring Linda Carter. It’s been too long ago to remember much about the show other than I liked it. Here’s what IMDB says:
During World War II, a plane piloted by Major Steve Trevor crashes near Paradise Island, the secret hidden island home of the mighty and eternally young Amazons. He is rescued by Princess Diana, who learns of the war against the Nazis. The Amazons decide to send one of their own to help fight in this crisis. Although forbidden to participate in the selection process, Diana joins secretly and wins the right and responsibility to go. Taking the still unconscious Major to safety, she joins him as Yeoman Diana Prince. Furthermore, when the forces of evil threaten the nation, Diana would spin to transform into Wonder Woman, armed with a magic belt giving her tremendous strength, bracelets that can stop any bullet, a tiara that can be thrown as a returning weapon and an unbreakable magic lasso that can force anyone to tell the truth. After WW II, she returned to the Island, only to encounter Steve Trevor Jr., agent for IADC, thirty years later. Seeing the amazing coincidence as a sign, she returns to the Man world once more to resume her role as the greatest of the female superheroes.
Wonder Woman is totally patriotic in her red, white, and blue outfit! We need more super heroines like this Wonder Woman today! 🙂
Winding things down, I wanted to point out I have a movie giveaway going on, here, if you’re interested. However, I’m not sure if it’s open worldwide. It may only be good for the US. I never got a response from the sponsor. I just wanted y’all to know. No worries if you don’t want to play along. 🙂
I’ll be back tomorrow with multiple posts filled with a lot of fun. There’s something for everyone photography (Skywatch Friday), blessings (Celebrate the Small Things), Friendly fill-ins, and lots of laughs (Friday Sillies) and I hope you join me!
Amanda was born in Beirut, Lebanon to an American mother and Mexican/Lebanese father. All before her 10th birthday, she traveled the Middle East and Europe with her family before moving to the United States with her mother, brother, and four sisters. She and her sisters formed a band. That’s where she developed a talent for harmony. Her exposure to music comprises of a Middle Eastern flavor influenced by late 70s American sounds of Alice Cooper, Elton John, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and The Beatles. The singer – songwriter vocals are best known for The 4400 opening theme song.
The song that peaked my curiosity, A Place in Time….
I’m really hooked on this tune so much so that I had to download it from iTunes. Her interesting sound captured my attention and I wanted explore more of her music. I invite you to dance this way for a little ear candy.
The 4400 complete series is on Netflix. We just started watching the show. Are you familiar with the USANetwork sci-fi program?
What appears to be a comet slows, hovers and stops, then bursts forth to reveal 4,400 people who were presumed dead or missing over the past 50 years. They look exactly the same as the moment they disappeared, but some of the returnees now have special powers.
In 2011, Amanda released Be in Love that includes 8 original songs. This morning, I’m sharing with you the first track, Be In Love With Me Again…
Moving on, I found this song while surfing YouTube. Oddly, I couldn’t find it on iTunes. It’s possible it’s an oversight on my part, but listen to Dreams in Ashes.
This past April, Someday Girl,Vol 2 (available on iTunes) released. Amanda captures a similar essence to The 4400 theme song, as well a kinda jazzy overtone which I liked a lot. If there is a volume 2 then there has to be a volume 1, but iTunes didn’t have Someday Girl, Vol 1 listed, but I found it on YouTube. So, all is good and so is the album.
Anywho, here is She Runs from Someday Girl, Vol 2!
Have you heard of Amanda Abizaid? What do you think of her music? Do you think you’d like to buy any of her songs/albums?
