Cathy Chat & @RRTFB on #TuesdayTunesation

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! Tuesday Tunesation featured mewsician is new-to-me.  Looking for more artists with a bit of that old Motown style, I was introduced to Robert Rudolph and the Family Band. You know how you hear mewsicians say, I grew up in the church?  Well, this group actually did. They did not listen to any secular mewsic and didn’t even know it existed. They started off as a gospel band called Sacred Steel and Robert was out of his teens before being exposed to funk, rock, soul, jazz, and the whole band jam set. He blended these styles to form his own mewsical flare. Now, give a listen to RRTFB!

I’m joining Les from Ink Interrupted for Tuesday Coffee Chat this week and this morning’s prompt: What is your favourite indulgence?

It really depends on my mood. I love chocolate, so it could be a good truffle. The best truffles I’ve found come from Godiva! Ice cream is another favorite. I think I can eat this every day, especially chocolate peanut butter or anything pertaining some form of chocolate. lol Turkey Hill All-Natural has the best Choc PB we’ve found and it’s so goood! I don’t know why more national brand ice cream manufacturers do not carry this flavor because it’s a huge home run at our house. Of course, I’ll never turn down a decadent chocolate cake. I have a fabulous triple chocolate cake recipe that I use to make DH’s bday cake and it’s so yummy!

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me if you want. I hope you’ll hop & link up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

I will be absent from blogging most of next week, except for Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me, while I finish getting my A2Z posts lined up for April and then to kick off the challenge with my first post the last Friday of the month. However,  I hope you’ll join me at midnight and link up with my mid-week meme not-so Wordless Wednesday and to learn who won the last round of BoTB!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Lucky Charms + #TuesdayTunesation with @JamesMorrisonOK

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! Tuesday Tunesation featured mewsician is new-to-me.

James Morrison is an English singer/songwriter who rose to fame in 2006 with his début single, “You Give Me Something” (song number three on the above playlist) peaking at #5 in the UK and #1 in New Zealand. It became a hit in Europe, Australia, Japan, & Iran. I find his soulful, rock style is rather nice and easy to listen to while writing posts or reading others.

This month, I putting together multiple daily posts into one.  I don’t know if this will make life any easier while I work on my April A-Z posts but that’s my hopes.

I’m joining Les from Ink Interrupted for Tuesday Coffee Chat this week and this morning’s prompt: Where are your Lucky Charms?  It’s St. Patrick’s Day this week, whether you are Irish or not, do you have any special totems or symbols of your culture?

Me Lucky Charms are in the cupboard, lassie. Where else would they be? 😉

I know you’re talking about cereal but I couldn’t resist being my usual silly self with this prompt.  When DD#1 began her junior year in our homeschool high school I knew I didn’t want to get our kids the typical class ring and that’s when I began thinking about our Irish culture.  That’s when I found this not-so-expensive Claddagh rings with our daughters in mind from Creative Irish Gifts.

We got DS one from the same site but either they no longer have it or I’m not remembering what it looked like.  He had a masculine style Claddaugh ring.

Many, many years ago when we use to get our annual Christmas bell from Helix Pewter & Copper just before they closed their business door for good DH got me small Claddaugh windchime.  I think it’s meant to be hung on a Christmas tree but I have hung by a cord from the ceiling.  It makes the slightest tinkling sound if I blow on the chimes.  What I’d like to get is a horseshoe to put on our door. While I am not superstitious, I do like the legion behind the hanging of the horseshoe of good fortune and is a sign that keeps Satan away, otherwise, I just think it’s a nice Irish decoration.  I bet I could find an old horseshoe at my in-laws’ place. I’m gonna have to look the next time we visit. 😉

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me if you want. I hope you’ll hop & link up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

Some One I Miss + #TuesdayTunesation with @EddiReader

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! Last week, The Sound of One Hand Typing, introduced to me to Eddi Reader covering Gene Pitney’s Town Without Pity.  Reader’s sultry style won me over in John’s battle! But, if you’re still listening to the above playlist, then you’ll understand why I like Eddi. Her quiet, almost reverent tone in some of her mewsic arrangements keep my ear pinned to the speakers while I continue composing this post. Allow me if you don’t mind to share a few more Eddi Reader discoveries with you.

Eddi is a Scottish singer/songwriter with a talent for pop, folk, and jazz pieces.  In the mid-to-late 80s, she played with the British band, Fairground Attractions, performing a folk-style, soft rock mewsic before launching a solo career. Reader is the receiver of three Brit Awards topping both the album and single charts.

I’m joining Les from Ink Interrupted for Tuesday Coffee Chat this week and this morning’s prompt:  Someone you miss?

There are many someones I miss who have passed from this life to the next but I know I’ll see my grandparents, brother, mother-in-law, other kin, and friends someday.

The someone I miss is more than a person but a sense. I miss the simple innocence of my children’s youth which is forever gone. There’s something magical in looking back when my children were small. It seemed in those days their whole world revolved around me.  I was the center of their universe. Every morning, they’d greet me with sweet little faces with outstretched arms, warm cheery smiles and a twinkle in their eyes. I was a superhero to them. I chased away the monsters under the bed or hiding in corners. I kissed boo-boos, wiped away tears, and told them everything would be alright. I’d hold their hands, squeeze them tight, and tuck them in at night.  I read them stories, chased them in the yard, and we drew chalk artwork on the driveway. I fixed their meals, washed their tiny hands, kept their clothes clean, and toys put away each day.  Just as quick as night turns into day, so did their childhood vanishing away. I’m left with an empty spot in my heart, remembering a time way back then that seems like only yesterday.

DD#2, DS, DD#1, Summer 1994. This is from an old print, I scanned to the computer and then processed it with Pixelmator improving its quality. If you’re old enough then you know that cameras once used film to capture images.

*reach for Kleenex* Okay, that’s a wrap for this morning. Here’s one last song I’d like to share with you.

One more thing before I dash off. Although, I know he’ll never see this I just wanted to recognize someone very dear to me.  Today is my FIL’s 94th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Austin! May the Lord continue to keep you in His care! We love you!!

Movie Review & Giveaway: 1 NIGHT (ends 03.07.2017) & Who Do You Trust?

What if you could go back in time without changing the outcome? Would you?

Good morning Kittens & Dawgs! I want to present to you a Level 33 film written and directed by Minhal Baig; produced by Kerry Barden, Hans S. Canosa, & Marius A. Markevicius.

Visit 1 NIGHT Facebook Fan Page!

A romantic drama starring Anna Camp, Justin Chatwin, Isabelle Fuhrman, Kyle Allen, Kelli Berglund, Roshon Fegan, and Evan Hofer. Written and Directed by Minhal Baig and produced by Kerry Barden, Hans S. Canosa, & Marius A. Markevicius.

Anna Camp plays thirty-something Elizabeth who must decide whether her disappointed marriage is salvageable with Drew (Justin Chatwin) while a worried teen, Bea (Isabelle Fuhrman), reconnects with Andy (Kyle Allen), a shy childhood friend, who try to move past their high school social status after the prom. This is a story of past and present colliding as two couples explore love in one night at a hotel.

I’m not usually one for romantic dramas and quite honestly the trailer didn’t inspire a lot of confidence to see this film. Perhaps it just me, maybe it was the mood I was in or whatever but I had the chance to see the flick early in exchange for my opinion and to host a giveaway on Curious as a Cathy.

The movie begins slow and stays so consistently throughout the flick. If you’re the impatient, waiting for something big to happen person like me then you’ll be disappointed. I decided to ride the waves of melancholy presented in the script that the actors executed well. While the story unfolded I found I wanted to see a good outcome for the young married couple in trouble and I had hopes that the teens took the advice given by two strangers oddly interested in them. I actually enjoyed the movie. If you like slow-paced dramas then this is definitely up your alley and if not but you kinda wanna see it coz it sounds sorta good then here’s a chance to win a free copy of the movie!

I will participate in this blog hop today & you’re invited to follow along! 😉

What a coincidence this viewing of this movie sorta is a purrfect fit for today’s Coffee Chat prompt hosted by Les from Ink Interrupted who asks: Who do you trust most?

It won’t come as a surprise to any of you if you read last week’s Coffee Chat response with my answer to today’s question but excluding God,  I trust DH above all others.  He’s my protector – physically and emotionally and I composed a little poem just my sweetie!

I borrowed the background from a free Internet resource. The original file name credits the author as JSF but I cannot find it online now. 🙁

Trust in a relationship goes beyond one’s faithfulness.  It’s also a measure of love and sacrifice. How far will DH go for me? This is something I never asked of or from him but it’s a role he stepped into willingly because he loves me so deeply.  I am honored by this pledge of adoration.

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me if you want. I hope you’ll hop & link up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday before you leave you might want to listen to this morning featured artist on Tuesday Tunesation!

Love Yourself, Celebrate Your Love, Who/What Are you Lovin’

Happy Valentine’s Day, kittens & dawgs!

What exciting stuff do you have planned? I made some heart-shaped chocolate petit fours for DH and if you dropped by last week then you saw the special V-Day card I made for him, as well as our kiddos. I didn’t forget you. I doodled this ribbon heart design with friends in a rainbow of colors (actually it is the colors of a rainbow) especially for all of you to show how special you are to me.

Today, I thought it would be fun to revisit two older posts I wrote in my early years of blogging. Valentine’s Day is the “love holiday”, but you know what to truly love someone else, you must love yourself first.  I encourage you to read 7 Ways to Love Yourself.  Valentine’s Day celebrates a couple’s intimacy but shouldn’t we celebrate this all year? Check out 12 Way to Celebrate Your Love!

Les from Ink Interrupted hosts the weekly meme, Tuesday Coffee Chat and her coffee chat topic this morning is on cue for this special occasion. The prompt is LOVE.   What or Who are you lovin’ lately?

It’s hard to imagine loving DH any more than I do but I find that I grow more and more in love with him each day of every year.  I’m not sure how that’s possible and yet it is.  We are more than husband and wife, we are best friends!  There is nothing he or I would rather do than to do it with each other.  I help him change the oil in the car and he helps  me fold the laundry, We like getting up early to take long day trips to the mountains, photograph scenic views or beautiful sunsets, I fix his boo-boos and he fixes mine, we are junkaholics who love ice cream, chocolate, and donuts, we like to cuddle in the living room watching romantic comedies, action flicks, or edge of your seat thrillers, he shares interesting articles, headlines, and how-tos while I enlighten him with my photo-art, doodles, blogging interests, or delicious recipes.

We’re different in many ways and so alike in others. He’s quick-witted – I’m slow on the take. He’s intelligent – I’m trying to catch up. He’s logical – I’m emotional (that’s not always a bad thing). He’s reserved – I’m an open book. He loves cookies – I love to bake cookies. He’s coördinated – I’m a klutz. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a purrtty amazing person  *giggle* but it’s not my place to speak of these things. Instead, I’ll leave that to DH who’s always quick to share with others my favorable attributes. He’s just sweet like that. ?

Within our core, we share identical viewpoints – politically, spiritually, and ethically.  He gives freely and cares deeply, placing me above himself all the time.  It an honor to call myself his wife.  The old saying Love is blind is true because love hides the small stuff not worthy of attention that otherwise could rear its head to cause problems and that’s the way love should work.  We all have impurrfections and it’s nice when love is bigger than our flaws.  Thank you, DH, for being my Valentine and the greatest LOVE of my life! ?

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me if you want. I hope you’ll hop & link up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

Last week, I was inspired by Clean and Scentsible and having the ingredients on hand decided to make my own version of her fun Valentine’s Day treat.

Heart-shaped Mini Raspberry Pies

Heart-shaped Mini Raspberry Pies

Ingredients

  • Pillsbury Pie Dough
  • Raspberry Pie Filling (Strawberry sounds goods, too)
  • Egg white

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven according to the directions on the dough. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
  2. Choose your favorite pie filling. For this recipe, I used Duncan Hines Premium Raspberry Pie Filling. An optional step I did was add ¼ cup of Splenda to the filling and stirred well. DH likes it to be a little sweeter.
  3. Roll the dough out. Using an Anne Clark 3 ⅝ heart-shaped cookie cutter (made in the USA), I cut out the heart shapes placing on the cookie sheet. Place about a tablespoon of filling in the center of each mini heart-shaped piecrust, then brush egg white along the edges (this acts like a glue for the two piecrust pieces) and then top with another mini heart-shaped piecrust.
  4. Use a fork to press two piecrust pieces together, if filling squeezes out use other end of fork to scrap up and put back in bowl. I found using the other end of the fork to seal the difficult areas down useful then I crinkled with fork tines to make it look pretty.
  5. The last step brush tops of mini heart-shaped pies with egg white and sprinkle with sugar, then place in the oven and bake about 5 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and enjoy!

This is NOT an affiliated link. I used the 3 ⅝” cookie cutter from this Ann Clark heart-shaped cookie cutter set.

Did you catch my earlier post, Barry White on Tuesday Tunesation? If not, I invite you to check it out! 😉  I hope you’ll join me at midnight and link up with my mid-week photo meme not-so Wordless Wednesday.

Have a sweetheart of a day!
