Recipes,  Tickle Me Tuesdays

Snowball Cookie #recipe, Supima Flannel Sheets, Technology #humor, and Tuesday 4 Q&A

Over the holidays we watched The Christmas Cookie Challenge on SlingTV.  That was really a fun series.  They only have four seasons listed. I sure hope there’s a 5th.  Anyway, I got an idea planted in my head to do 12 Months of Cookies where I make a new-to-me cookie recipe.   You might imagine DH didn’t object to it and in fact he loves the concept!  On Thursday, I made Snowball Cookies.  Have you ever had them?  The closest store-bought comparison is the Archway Pecan Nuggets.

These cookies were a huge hit with DH.   No sooner were they ready, my “Cookie Monster” ate half a dozen cookies within minutes.  I did tell you that he loves cookies, didn’t I?   I hope you enjoy the recipe and if you try it let me know how you liked it.

Our 20-year old Sealy flannel sheets needed replacing.  The thing I like about our old flannel sheets is they have deep pockets.  Our mattress isn’t particular think, maybe 10-12″, compared to some newer mattresses today but it’s difficult to get regular fitted sheets on easily.   Speaking of which our mattress needs to be changed to but that’ll have to wait.  Back to my story…when we got these sheets, I was bowled over how expensive they were even on sale but I was so tired of cheap flannel sheet sets that didn’t fit right after a few washings.  I had the same issue with non-flannel sheets, too.  We immediately fell in-love with the comfy feel and I really liked how I didn’t have to struggle to get the fitted sheet securely over the mattress corners.  We wounded up buying a couple of sets of these over the years and somewhere in our tiny, unorganized house I have another set or two.  I would have been happy to taken the the old set off to put on a backup set but as I said I couldn’t find them.  I alternated these sheet sets.  Instead of having to remove, wash, and put the same set back on, I would strip the bed and put on another set, then after I washed the dirty ones put them away.  That worked beautifully. In recent years I knew these needed replacing but I procrastinated.  The expense and difficulty to find deep pocket flannel sheet sets taxed my brain too much.  Finally, I broke down the week before last to begin the search.   I was happy to find a possible candidate at Lands End, 6oz. Supima Flannel Sheets.  They are very expensive at regular price but I had a coupon code that nearly slashed the cost in half and I was able to go through Rakuten [<— my refer-a-friend link] to get an additional 4% back.   I was sold and bought two sets!  We got them pretty quickly.  I immediately washed, dried, and put a set on our bed.   Oh my Cathy are these flannel sheets the berries!  The fit and feel of the supima flannel is even better than our old Sealy flannel sheets when they were new.   I like the Lands End flannel sets so much I ordered another set.   I’ll be tickled pink if I get 20-years out of these little puppies!

Weeks ago I signed up for Parler, a conservative version of Twitter but when everything went down their server, Amazon, shut them down.  The censorship madness is what prompted me to delete my Twitter account.   At present Parler is inaccessible but I did sign up for CloutHub another Twitter-like platform.  I’m still in the wet behind the ears stage with them as it’s not even been a week since I joined but if you’re already a member then search for me by real name or @AmericanETNGirl. Here’s a picture of my banner.

Gab.com and MeWe.com (<–direct link to my profile page) are platforms similar to Facebook.  Like with the Clouthub you can use the search info to find me.  Both sites are experiencing some site issues, as they’ve hit a growing spurt. I can’t imagine how come, can you?  I will keep you up-to-date on how these work out and if I find any others worthy of attention.

Today, I’m joining Tuesday 4.

1. What kind of work does not bother you at all?  I’d say most household chores don’t bother me.

2. What kinds of work does bother you and why?  Grocery shopping.  Of course with the pandemic I haven’t actually done much physical grocery shopping since I’m able to use Instacart or Walmart online.  But bringing everything in and putting it away isn’t a lot of fun.

3. Is there a job you’ve had you loathed or  perhaps one you loved? Why was that?  I can’t think of a job I had outside the home that I loathed.  Sometimes I didn’t like the way I was treated as a employee and I found changing jobs fixed that problem.  Love is a strong word to describe how you feel about a ‘job’.   I liked my last position very much but I wouldn’t say I loved it.  After I put it aside to take early retirement to be a SAHM in 1988.

4. Do you have a job or kind of work you wish you were doing? What would make it attractive to you? Doing what I’m doing now is the best kind of job I could ever have.  I love being a SAHW!  I have flexible hours and I choose what projects I want work on.  I get all holidays and weekends off unless I decide to work.  Oh yeah, the greatest thing about my job is I have endless hours of creativity either in the kitchen, at my computer, or with my sketch pad.

It’s time to grab a cup of coffee and follow along with me as I head off to visit Sandee for some Happy Tuesdays giggles at Comedy-Plus, then I’ll check out Random Tuesday Thoughts with Stacy Uncorked, and finishing things up by checking out this week’s word prompt found at Eugi’s Causerie for the wannabe poet buried inside.   That’s a wrap for now but come back tomorrow for Wild Wednesdays where just about anything goes! 😉

I dumped Twitter and Gmail a few weeks ago. I use Vivaldi as my browser. Like, Sandee, if I see any hate through comments or posts, I delete them. I love anything Land’s End and they have great sales so enjoy your flannel sheets. And thanks for the cookie recipe!! 😘

      Eugenia,

I use Firefox with the Duck Duck Go extension and on occasion when Firefox might be wonky, I switch to Safari. I will look at Vivaldi, if it’s a conservative, private browser then I’m very interested in knowing more. I haven’t had to deal with hate comments so I don’t have to worry about that but hate filled posts I tend to either not address or click away. We all do not share the same opinion. It’s no sense in trying to argue with someone opposite views. You’re dispensing precious energy and creates stress. Why can’t people just say, “Let’s agree we disagree” and leave it at that while building their friendships based on common bonds? sigh I’m thankful to have found a lovely community of blogging friends who at the very least respect one another. Thanks for being a good friend!

I am not using Firefox because the owner, Mozilla, called everyone that is not a Democrat racist. Then it advocated censorship. That is when I changed to Vivaldi, which is a private browser with no ads. It supports, Windows, Mac and Linux. Once I got it set up, I love it. I haven’t received hate comments on WP but I have come across some posts full of hate, even hateful poetry. The hate needs to end and we need to move forward. Thank you for being a good friend, as well.

Ohhhh I am with you on the sheets. Mr. M. and I just last week purchased a new mattress. Holy crap! Talk about expensive. Our box spring and frame are still good so that cut the cost but the old style mattresses that you can flip are no longer made. The mattress we got is a serta and we had to find deep pocket sheets. I am a sheet and towel buyers. I have LOTS of sheet sets of all kinds. Flannel are my fave. Now I have to buy new for this mattress. We got some brushed microfiber 18″ to 20″ OMG expensive and I hate them. Too hot and not all that soft. I like the cookie idea. This recipe sounds really good. Have a great day.

I hope that kitty finds some wild animals on Safari soon. I laughed out loud.

Love your answers. I dumped Twitter and Facebook. I don’t miss them at all and if I run on a site that is a hater I just click off. Also if a hater links up to one of my hops I delete their link. I just can’t listen to the hate anymore. We’re one the same page as you know.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Love and hugs, my friend. ♥

Those were good answers. We haven’t shut our social media yet but we might soon, we hate the hate. Love the Apple story.
