Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, The end of the alphabet always poses more challenge than all the other letters. I settled on waves and the walking dead last year. Feeling a bit of a pinch to come up with something to share this time I turned to Google images for inspiration when I came up with Water Glass.
I followed this how to draw a water glass for kids YouTube video to craft my illustration but I’d love to give this tutorial a try another time. The self-helps for improving one’s artistic ability is amazing online. I love all that technology offers from the comfort of my home!

Nice 3-d effect on the water glass shading. Is it a digital one?

Seema,
Yes, I drew the water glass on my iPad if that’s what you’re asking about is this a digital sketch. This is how I drew all of my images this month. I borrowed Google images and YouTube tutorials for inspiration. Thanks for joining me in the fun.
Yah … this one looked a bit like traditional art. So was confused 🙂 Nice art work.
Good job on the water glass, Cathy. Cheers! Happy Friday!
Eugenia, Thanks for the visit and comment. I hope you’re having a good weekend. We had to tackle several outdoor projects and now I’m wiped out. Phew!
I use different sight to do different things. Not long ago I look up on how to draw an arvark.
Coffee is on
Dora,
An arvark would be an interesting ‘A’ subject to sketch. I thought about drawing one last year but went with angels instead.
Grrrrr I started writing a comment had it almost set to go when I had to get up from my chair and answer the door and POOF!!! Question the book that you wrote The Tale of Ole Green Eyes Oct 27, 2010
by Cathy Kennedy etc, Paperback $3.75 (2 used & new offers) did you do the drawings too in your book & why don’t you advertise that on your blog? May I? Now, the drawing above is so real looking it’s making me thirsty!!! Did you take lessons or is that a God given gift that I know it is…? Girl, you are wasting away.. why aren’t you doing greeting cards or pics for children’s books, advertising and so much more…??? You’re wasting away!!! Girlfriend thanks for your wonderful comment (that I answered) on my Post you did today. WOW…. so much I did not know too! Way ta go! See you manonna’
Marie,
No, I did not do the artwork in my children’s book. You’re welcome to advertise it if you want. I hope I can get comfortable with my drawing were I can illustrate my next children’s story. I began doing this last year but then I felt overwhelmed and it didn’t feel right to me, so I benched the project. Maybe, I’ll give it try again soon. I appreciate you sweet words of encouragement, though. You asked about lessons. The only time I took art classes was in high school and I never thought I was very good. What little I do comes from God. He definitely deserves full credit, my friend. I did open a Zazzle store. My plan is to use some of my favorite sketches on merchandise. We’ll see what happens. I’m not ready to push Zazzle just yet. I thought I’d get the challenge out of the way and figure out how to promote it. Thanks for visiting and again for your sweet comment. I’ll be missing in Blogosphere tomorrow. DH & I are going to knock around together. 😉
Well drawn! And water is not easy to draw.
Mimi,
Many thanks! I will certainly revisit sketching a water glass. It could stand some improvement but overall I’m happy with my first try.
Now, that’s a glass! Good playlist!
Thanks, John!
Just the way I like it, no ice.
Janet,
I drink water most of the time with no ice but I do like it sometimes. 🙂
It’s actually pretty good. I can’t identify why it doesn’t look quite real. Hmm…
Jacqui,
Maybe, I just need to keep practicing on getting my realistic water glass more realistic. lol
I’ve so enjoyed your sketches this month.
I love Deep Purple. I remember this one. Excellent.
Have a fabulous day, Cathy. ♥
Sandee,
I’m so happy to have your visits every day this month. It’s great when a bloggy bud sticks with you, supporting and encouraging me every step of the way. 🙂
All good posts, Cathy, and I like that you challenged yourself so much this month. Well done!
Thanks, Martha! I enjoy the A2Z Challenge. This event forces me to make the time to devote to my artwork. I appreciate you being apart of my experience this month. 🙂
Hi Cathy you’re doing well great water glass! I can’t believe we’re up to W already -mine of course will be Wandering when I get there!!
Wren x
Little Wandering Wren,
Yeah, April has gone Woosh on! I can’t believe we’re starring at May already. Thanks for visiting! 😉
Great job on the water glass. That looks difficult with the shading. Great song choice, I haven’t heard that in years.
Ellen,
The step by step instruction help a lot. I believe anyone can draw this water glass if they just follow them. 🙂
What a great looking glass! The shading and dimensions are smack on. I think it’s great that we can watch how-to’s on YouTube and they are very helpful.
Birgit,
I am happy with how my water glass turned out. This sketch and the jars were interesting art projects. I hope to explore more similar ideas for future sketches. Thanks for the nice compliment and visit, my friend!
Hi, Cathy!
What a great job you did of rendering that water glass, dear friend! Natural looking as can, it needs no embellishment. The charm is in its simplicity. Mrs. Shady can testify about the challenges of drawing transparent objects and you succeeded with your water glass. I wanted to add something I forgot to mention yesterday regarding the Victorian lady. Mrs. S also finds human hands to be among her greatest challenges in artwork.
Have a Wonderful day, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
Thanks for sharing Mrs. Shady’s experiences with hands and transparent objects. Experienced artists make it look so easy but when a novice such as me tries it pushes me and sometimes I doubt my ability. However, this is my time to learn and share. I appreciate your visits and kind comments every day, dear friend!
One thing I always forget are the You Tube tutorials. Such a wealth of information-I need to see what I can learn about iPhone photography.
Alana,
I love finding YouTube tutorials to try, especially for drawings that seem a bit challenging. Oh, I’m sure there are plenty of iPhone photography tutorials. That would be something good to learn more about. Perhaps I’ll look into that over the next few weeks. 🙂
