#AtoZChallenge Creating iPad Art Sketches Letter “S”

Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, Last year, I drew Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I love the sketching with a pencil and paper but I absolutely love doodling with my iPad!  I’m learning lots all the time and the coolest thing is when I see something I don’t like I can change it easier. Take a look at my first Splashtime for Baby sketch.

It’s not bad but it seemed a bit plain the more I looked at it and so I did a change up on my drawing. The nifty thing with Procreate is I can use layers without altering other parts of my sketch and even if I make goofs then I correct them fairly easily. Here are the extra emblishments I added to the original.

Although not purrfect, I do like the changes. It breathes life into the scene. What do you think?

Thanks for making me apart of your day. Don’t forget to leave your footprints in comments with your signature (URL) so I can find my way back to you. Please let me know if you’re a new follower, so I can do the return favor. I realized the importance of building social networks. You might find me participating in my usual daily blog hops but right now I’m heading off to link up with other fellow AtoZers and you’re invited to come along. I hope you’ll join me on the dance floor with Monday’s Music Moves Me and for another edition of Creating iPad Art Sketches!

  1. awww, it’s so cute! Kids and duckies go together like strawberries and whipped cream. I love what you do with the splashpad.

    1. Voicing a video…am I correct in thinking this is the same as a voice-over where you were speaking while the video plays? That sounds rather cool. I’m delighted you like my sketch better than the bathroom in the video. 🙂

  2. Thanks for the trip down memory lane by sharing “Splish Splash” by Bobby Darin. The fifties were a great time to be a teenager. Love the sketch and the second one definitely has personality.

    1. Eugenia,

I’m delighted you enjoyed the mewsic selection to go with my sketch. Although I was not born until 1961, the 50s have always been an idyllic era in my mind. In high school, we celebrated 50s day during homecoming week. That was such a blast, too!

  3. Now this babe is a cutie..so well drawn and I do love the additions you made. The music you picked is perfect..fun song🌝.

  4. Now I wouldn’t say it’s an improvement Cat I would say just more lovliness!!! It’s too cute! I could see that hanging in my bathroom for sure or my daughter’s with all her babies! ~hehehe~ It’s just too cute girlfriend.. and yes I do like it much better with your addition!!! But what puts the sugar on is BOBBY DARIN – HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND & SEE MONDAY TO ROCK & ROLL FELLOW CONDUCTOR… Hey, check out my sidebar & see what I put… you like it???

    1. Marie,

I’m glad you liked my baby splishing and a splashing in the bath tub. I did check out your side menu. Hopefully, we’ll get some takers interested in co-hosting alongside us for a month. Good job!

    1. Thank you, Seema! I’m somewhat familiar with Photoshop. I use Pixelmator as my photo-editor of choice which is very much like Photoshop. Illustrator I do not know. Is this an app for the computer or mobile device? I will check out this product. Thanks for visiting.

      1. Its an Adobe product, mostly a desktop application. Not sure if there’s a mobile version.

It is good for vector illustrations and typography.

  5. Love your sketch. That couldn’t be cuter.

Love the video. I’ve not heard that in a very long time.

Have a fabulous weekend, Cathy. ♥

    1. Jacqui,

I thought seeing the before and after scenes a nice approach to showing how easy it is to make a transition in design. Thanks for visiting!

  6. I like the first version better as the baby doesn’t stand out as much in the second version. super cute drawing.

    have a lovely day.

    1. Lissa,

Interesting point. I was looking at my sketch from a multi-level perspective of wanting to create a scene. Thanks for visiting. I’m heading your way now.

  7. I love your sketches, great job. And I will be having that song in my head all day now 🙂

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Saturday and “S” day to you, dear friend! Yessum, I think you certainly did improve your Splashtime With Baby sketch by filling in the background with texture and color. Now it pops. I can imagine mommy pointing to the A B Cs on the towel and helping the toddler learn as she wipes him or her dry after the bath. I enjoyed listening to “Splish Splash,” Bobby Darin’s first big hit, a single that peaked at 3 on the pop chart and went all the way to #1 on the R&B chart according to my Joel Whitburn record research book. “Splish Splash” even made a dent on the country mewsic chart. Bobby’s record was released in the middle of 1958, a huge year for novelty ditties on the radio, horror films and novelty toys like the Hula Hoop. Simply put, 1958 was a great year to be a kid.

Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Good-morning, Tom!

Thanks for stopping by so early today. Normally, we’d be sleeping a bit longer. However, we decided to hit the road. We’re heading toward Asheville to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hope to beat out some of the Saturday crowd and take in the view from Mt. Mitchell. It’s just a short hike from the parking lot to the summit but it does get rather steep in places which tires most folks out who aren’t used to challenging themselves. I fear my lax exercise routine is going to find my legs sore and heart beating a bit faster than usual when I take the short trek. I’m trying to get back into the groove as of mid-week and I’m confident I will find my stamina return quickly. Thanks for sharing the interesting stats about Bobby Darin’s hit song. I read that this song hit the country charts, too. My mother was just 13 when his song came out. The 50s seemed like a fun era for teenagers and mewsic. Have a good weekend, my friend!
