#WW: Spanish War Veteran Statue, Gov John Sevier, & the old Andrew Johnson Hotel

On Sunday, before venturing out to do our dreaded grocery shopping, we drove downtown.

Fences are always placed where I do not want them, so I just make the most of the opportunity. This is a tough picture to capture. I either over-expose or under-expose the image too much. The less offender of the two evils is under-exposed. At least, I like how my subject is in silhouette against a gorgeous blue sky.

This is the Andrew Johnson Building formerly known as the Andrew Johnson Hotel, the last place Hank Williams spent the night and presumably died here.

  1. That is most definitely a great way to master a tough lighting situation – a silhouette.
Hahaha – funny, you caught my car in your last picture: Tuffie, our surf-mobile 😉

    1. Hey, you should have stopped to say hello then! lol Yep, low lighting is tricky. But, silhouettes turn a bad situation into a good opportunity. 😀

  2. Lovin’ your pics! Thanks so much for sharing. I don’t have a button for WW, but maybe I better make one. I’ll let you know. As far as the sun aren’t you supposed to have it at your back or something like that? I’m learning too! hehehe have a great day… I do so love these type of pics. 🙂

  3. That naughty sun messes photos up for me too, Cathy. LOL, at least it is a good excuse ☺(for me)
I love all the interesting features & buildings, thanks for the tour! And thank you for this weeks award! there is something wrong with your code grabber, so I linked back to your blog title above the explanation of the award. Glad you enjoyed my “purple bloomers” last week ☺
    hugs, Faythe @ GrammyMouseTails

  4. I also don’t like fences…Great pictures. Interesting to see a some diferrent architekture as ours (in Germany).
Thanks for hosting, have a nice day

  5. Love the first one! nice capture against the blue sky background. I love towns with so much history, I walked around ours on the weekend (its a very brief walk), and it’s amazing to see how much history there is.

  6. Always interesting history on your blog. I too have lots of fences I have to shoot through or around. Like you I make the best of it.
