#WW Mabry Mill

DSC_5143
Mabry Mill approx. mile marker 175 on the Virginia section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is very photographic site along the parkway and one place I’d love to return this fall when the colors are at peak.

On Friday, I mentioned the colors are beginning in the Smoky Mountains, but we have yet to see the autumn’s blazing coat across the landscape. Timing is critical in capturing fall at its best. This isn’t one of those instances “fall at its best“, but I snapped the below photo about the same time as this last year in the western mountains of North Carolina along the Cullasaja Gorge. It still makes a lovely picture, though.

What is your favorite place to photograph when fall is at its best?

Thanks for joining the fun. I hope you’ll decide to visit a few of my favorite #WW shutterbugs link ups! Have a fototastic day!

    1. Claudia, I hope we can get away for the day very soon. I fear the colors are now passed peak in that part of Virginia (just south of Roanoke), but it would still be nice to revisit in the fall. It’s a beautiful little spot!

    1. No worries about skipping a week. I was doing that on purpose for much of the summer. Now, I’m ready to get back into the groove provided I have NO more interruptions from my server or my own mess ups. 😀 Thank you for stopping by!

    1. When you live in an area such as yourself then you come to expect the subtle seasonal changes, but it would certainly be difficult for me to adjust to not seeing the obvious. lol I really love the fall foliage to the occasional snow falls to spring blooms and lush green of summer. Hope to see to tomorrow for BTOB!

  1. One of my favourite places has been our local bridge over the river… it’s just gorgeous with all the bursting with colour trees reflecting in the water. But this year, I ventured forth and tried some new locations. the leaves were not quite changing when I first went – I guess it’s a bit late this year, but is was still some gorgeous scenery. I plan to go back this week.
I love the shot of the mill – gorgeous. what a great setting.

    1. Les, our colors are late this year, too. We hope to get away for the day to take in the fall change and enjoy a quiet drive soon. I have my fingers crossed for when we do go that the leaves will be near peak or at peak. Last year, we weren’t able to after peak. It was nice, but mostly the trees were bare. Oh well…anytime spent outdoors under blue skies with the sun smiling at you then you know it’s going to be a good time!
