Little Switzerland, North Carolina

From the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of Mt. Mitchell about 30-minutes is the small community of Little Switzerland, North Carolina. This picturesque community almost gives you the sense you’re in the Alps with this beautiful alpine style inn.

Oh, hum…nothing like pulling old photos from one’s archives to keep things running smoothly for Wordless Wednesday, eh?

In 2012, after I got my big girl camera all I wanted to do was get outdoors to shoot the mountains and so we did!

I created above collage for an overall feel of the area. You right click on any of the pictures on my site to open in another tab for a larger view.  

The next two images were too stunning to not share individually. 

This view is behind the inn looking over the valley toward Marion, NC. I love visiting this place when we can! This would be a perfect spot for a wedding, don’t you think?
It’s possible I shared this photo before, but I love how the lilies frame the bottom of the picture, don’t you?

My heart yearns to return to Little Switzerland for another photo shoot after filtering through my archives. Maybe this fall, when the crowds thin a bit; it will be a good time to stop.

  6. Beautiful photos. I love the Smokey Mountains. Several years ago we traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoyed every minute of it.

  7. gorgeous!! And yes, I can absolutely picture a wedding party there. With those mountains as your backdrop? perfection. I don’t blame you at all for wanting to return here. It’s so flat around me here in Ontario — we have beautiful lakes, rivers, forests…etc., but FLAT in comparison. I would love to photograph some mountains.

    1. We get a lot of northern folks in our area. You can always tell who the out-of-towners are by the way they handle curvy mountain roads. lol Maybe, one day you will get this way.

We use to visit Burlington, North Carolina when I was little. I’ll have to Post a couple of those this Friday for you! HUGS

    1. Silly me, I accidentally deleted my camera info from my post. So, to answer you question I have a Nikon D7000. I love it!Burlington, NC is quite a bit east from Asheville. I’m sure we have passed that way while traveling to the beach in years pass. Do you have family in the NC area?
