Good morning, kittens & dawgs! These past two Saturdays I featured mewsic talent from Finland. Today I continue the trend with a female pop recording artist, Jenni Vartiainen.
Prior to Jenni’s singing career, she was a figure skater in her teens and after winning the talent show Popstars in 2002, she joined a girl band who called themselves, Gimmel. Once the group broke up, Jenni embarked a solo career. Selling more than 330K records, Jenni is regarded as one of the 50 best selling Finnish artists of all time.
Where Is My Sweetie?
English lyrics for Ihmisten edessä
English lyrics for Duran Duran
English lyrics for Minä ja hän
The site where I got the English translated lyrics from above have several song titles and most have accompanying YouTube mewsic videos. My favorite song featured today is “Missä muruseni on (Where is my Sweetie?)” .
What did you think of today’s mewsic? If you liked, then share your discovery with your friends! 😉
That’s a wrap for this week. I hope you enjoyed your visit and I appreciate you including me in your weekend. I’ll see ya on Monday for Mewsic Moves Me. Have a songsational Saturday!

sweet little kitty. I have no sound in my old computer so I can´t here the music 🙁
Ah, that’s too bad you don’t have speakers for your computer. I remember our first computer, we didn’t have speakers for a long time and then we got some relatively inexpensive ones that sounded pretty darn good for our computer and it was fabulous being able to listen to mewsic or watch a funny vid clip online. You probably can get some decent speakers today for practically nothing if you’re interested in adding them to your computer. Thanks for stopping by, though. 🙂
Her music is as beautiful as she is!
Thank you for sharing!

Lisa, I’m glad you enjoyed Jenni. I’m taken with her voice. It has that lovely quality. Thanks for stopping by for a visit and I hope to see you again!
What a lovely voice she has!
I’m happy you enjoyed my Saturday Songsuasion featured artist, Ladyfi!
Hi, Cathy!
Mrs. S and I are on the road again this weekend, but I found a window of time to stop in and listen to your Saturday morning mewsical selections. The sound quality produced by this laptop I am forced to use while traveling isn’t nearly as good as that of my Sennheiser headphones back home, but I enjoyed the concert nevertheless.
I am thrilled that you continue to salute the artists of Finland and foreign language recordings in general. I never heard of Finnish pop singer Jenni Vartiainen. I thoroughly enjoyed her smooth voice and her songs and videos. it’s interesting that Jenni was a figure skater in her teenage years and formed a girl group before going solo. Jenni’s career path could just as easily have led her to become a frontwoman for one of the many gothic symphonic heavy metal bands that sprang up in the 2000s and are still popular today. In fact, if you took Jenni’s vocal tracks from these songs, added edgier metal arrangements and shot videos with her surrounded by bearded, long haired Viking guitarists, you would have the classic “beauty and the beasts” formula – a heavy metal album instead of pop. The point I a trying to make here is that the song lyrics and the message are the same – inspiring, uplifting, spiritual, romantic – in many of the metal recordings that people automatically reject because they have an unjust bias toward the genre. They are missing a lot of great mewsic as a result.
Thank you again for saluting a European artist and her foreign language recordings, dear friend Cathy. I thoroughly enjoyed Jenni!
Tom,
Thank you for squeezing in a visit on Saturday while traveling. Using headphones at times when you can’t hear mewsic well is a huge help. I’m glad you like Jenni’s vocal style. I get what you’re saying about making her mewsic vid edgier not changing her soft, romantic style but adding the beastly, wild element could make her style visually fantastically stimulating. Metal mewsic does get passed over because of the scary, dark mewsicians but I try to not to look at ’em if I’m drawn to a song. lol I appreciate your comments and suggestions. It’s good to keep one’s mind open, especially where mewsic is concerned. 🙂
She has a nice voice and a very interesting sound. It was really cool hearing the one Duran Duran and recognizing the band members name!! That was one of my favourite bands growing up, so it’s neat to hear her singing about them.
Les, Duran Duran was a huge hit in the 80s. They had some good songs but I don’t recall being overly crazy about them. Thanks for popping in for a listen!
