What’s On Your Mind? Random Thoughts on a Rainy Tuesday

What day is this? It’s Tuesday! Do you know what that means? It means, it’s time to get down and random.  I know you,  like me have been subconsciously working on topics you would like to rant about just a little or a lot in this weekly meme.  Let’s do it up in style while having fun doing it together !

What’s on your mind?

Finding my mind is the first order of business this morning.  Now… where did I put that thing? Think, think, think!  It’s not as if I actually use it or anything.  If I find it I certainly need to give it a good dusting and shake the cob webs off.

Last week America’s Got Talent had its finale.  It tickled me to see fellow West Virginian Landau Eugene Murphy win the $1M dollar prize and Vegas contract.  This victory gave me hope that Americans haven’t gone mad after all. Way to go, Landau, from a native Mountaineer!

Chi…more precisely Chi hair dryers have been on my mind lately.  Darling husband suggested I look into buying one of these units. They are considered to be the cream of the crop in hair care products. I need some input on Chi.  Can you help? It makes no difference if the Chi hair dryer is for home or professional use. I’m interested in learning anything and everything. In particularly, I am looking for a hair dryer that is extremely quiet.  This is a huge plus when I make my next purchase. My research may take some time, but once I figure out the hair dryer I plan to buy then I will do a follow up.

Are you a technology junky? I believe, I’m developing a serious addiction.  I’m terribly excited with Apple’s new operating system iOS 5 and iCloud, which will soon be released. Wowza, does it ever sound mega cool! My heart nearly skipped a beat with excitement as my husband shared with me last night the upcoming features. I’m like so getting this for my iPhone! Coffee is my jump-start motivator every morning. My brain is pretty much closed to nearly seized shut like a rusty door until I get my first sip of java.  We haven’t owned a coffee maker since the mid 80s. Why? Well, coffee machines are notorious for getting this bitter build up, which affects the taste of your brew. We got tired of trying to keep ours clean, so we abandoned this convenience for a plastic cone holder and a paper cone filter to produce a clear tasting cup of coffee with the manual drip method.  The guy (he really looks like he could use a cup of coffee) in this video shows you how to make coffee the right way. So, check it out!

The first day of autumn  is 10-days away. I’m eager for the change of season to arrive. My sweetheart husband bought me some lovely fall mums at Lowe’s on Sunday afternoon.  This has become a fun tradition for me the last 2-3 years . Robin looks forward to it just about as much as I do…maybe more so.  He loves taking me to the store to pick out cheery potted flowers for our front proch. This is one of life’s simple pleasures, which bring me great joy. When my husband sees how happy he has made me, the same feel-good sense radiates in him. One small loving act of kindness illuminates two hearts at one time.

“I’m going to wash that gray right out of my hair…” That’s right, today I have plans to do just that! Over the weekend, I bought a new (to me) hair dye product by John Frieda.   My youngest daughter recommended this product several months ago and am just now getting the courage to dye my hair again.  Usually, the hair color I strive for is a bit too much on the red side, which takes a couple of weeks to settle somewhat before I’m so-so happy with the new color.  Plus, all hair dyes I’ve tried in the past don’t really cover all the gray.  What’s with that anyhow? The good thing about my natural hair color is I’m told it will camouflage the gray well. So, why do I want to go through the anquish of coloring my hair? The consistant reminder that the hands of time aren’t slowing down bothers me. Aging gracefully is my goal at this point since I can’t stop it. My vow is to look my best no matter how old I am. Shouldn’t we all adopt this creed?

Thanks Stacy for keeping the randomness alive while Keely @ UnMom continues her blog break. Go ahead, slip into the ranting mood with the rest of us.  I know, you’ll feel right at home.  You won’t run into any odd ball looks here because anything goes! C’mon on, join the weekly fun with this cool meme and tell Stacy, “Cathy sent ya!”

I’m looking forward to reading what you have to say today, so drop me a few lines! I’ll be sure to return the visit and follow back.

  1. I watched America’s Got Talent from beginning to end. I wasn’t a fan of Landau’s style of music but loved his personality. I was rooting for Team iLuminate but Landau is deserving too. Autumn is also my favorite time of year.

  2. Haha I am just starting to form complete sentences by the second half of my second cup of coffee. Some people have blood, me it’s coffee.

  3. @Allstarme…absolutely, I so agree with you. When we look good, we feel good. It’s an attitude, really!

@Katie…home hair dryer, as in the Chi line?

  4. I’m a coffee junkie and my brain is on freeze mode until I have my first cup! I’ve tried home hair dyes but I never really notice any difference.

  5. I never used to lend much credence to looking as good as I could BUT, I find that if I do, I feel better overall. There’s something to be said for that. Happy Tuesday!
