Wayback Wednesdays…1995

This morning I’m having a major brain freeze.  It’s too early for me to collect my thoughts much less put them on the computer but time waits for no one and I have LOTS to do today.  Angela is our beautiful, expecting Mama hostess of WAYBACK WEDNESDAY appointed me as her side-kick for the mid-week fun.  Thanks!  Today, we’re going to travel back in time, we’re going back…wayback that is to 1995!

Thanks to thepeoplehistory.com I can get a memory jolt free and painlessly at least physically without hurting me.  Filtering through the news events did cause me repeat heartache.  Here are a few headlines which shocked us all!

OJ SIMPSON FOUND INNOCENT

Yeah, right?  Nearly every person in America, including myself and perhaps the world were pointing fingers shouting, “Give him the chair!” In our hearts, we felt certain he was guilty. To be honest, I still think he is. How could our legal system fail us?

TIMOTHY MCVEIGHT BLOWS UP OKLAHOMA ACITY FEDERAL BUILDING KILLING 168 PEOPLE

All I kept thinking that day was, “We are still in the USA, aren’t we?” It seemed surreal.  Things like THIS just didn’t happen on American soil. That sort of thing was in the news elsewhere in the world, but not here… not here in America! And yet, it did on April 19, 1995.

On a lighter note…1995 did turn out some good movies. This is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face, Randy Newman singing “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from Toy Story.

And, let’s not forget the music!  Music is the pulse in my vein. How about for you?  There’s nothing quite like it, which can jump start your day or to send you a quiet thoughtful state. What tunes were playing on the airway?  Here’s a list of the top 100 songs.  Let me give you a little sample of the mojo to juice you up on Wayback Wednesdays.

Personal events…My mind is a bit muddled still. Gotta have my morning Joe, gotta have my morning Joe, fast! Ah, yes one distinct event stands out in my foggy, caffeine deprived mind. My DH broke his ankle. Yep, yep it’s true. He was playing basketball with the boys when he met disaster on the court.  Let’s just say, physics was in action and worked against him. I recall him limping…no hopping into the house, “Honey, I sprained my ankle.” One look and I said, “I don’t think so!” The next morning with no sign of improvement insight and the pain sheer agony to put weight on his foot I knew it was broken. For much of that summer my poor darling was out of commission nursing his injury.  To this day, it’s mandatory we all wear high-top tennis shoes.

  1. Hello Cathy, I’m linking up with Wayback Wednesdays today. I look forward to enjoying this exercise.

The Oklahoma bombing and OJ Simpson trial were two events I remember well from 1995. Your poor darling, ouch! Thank goodness for hightop tennis shoes.
