Views from Little Switzerland Inn Brushstrokes

The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of our favorite places to go for day trips.  The Appalachian mountains are gorgeous year round and it offers a quiet break from the bustle of every day life.  In 2014 I share this view from Little Switzerland Inn. Over the summer I decided to process it using the Brushstrokes app for that painting-like effect that I love so much!

This is the purrfect spot for a wedding. In fact one time while visiting, there was a wedding party setting up for a ceremony in this exact spot.  If you checked out the link of the original photo, above, you’ll see what a lovely little place this is and why we love it!

A couple of weeks ago I used another photo from my 2014 Skywatch Friday share running it through Brushstrokes for my Songsational Sundays. Here’s the image without the Bible scripture.

I’d love to stay in the Little Switzerland Inn for a weekend. It’s a bit too expensive for our wallet at more than $100 per night for the main lodge but who knows maybe we’ll get wild and splurge a little. It’s only money and you can’t take it with you, right? 🙂

Join my #WildWednesdays linky party where just about anything goes! The concept for this mid-week blog hop was conceived as I found myself moving farther away from photography and more toward art. Of course, that’s not what this party is about. You’re invited to share anything – artwork, DIY projects, photos, music, musings, randomness, recipes, and more!

I’m linking with these Wordless Wednesday Communities… Sandee, Natasha,  Marie, & Wordless Wednesday! 😉

That wraps things up for now. Tomorrow I’ll have a new illustration to share for this week’s ‘Eyes and Ears’ art prompt of Thursday Art Date with Rain.  Have a wonderfully fun and WILD WEDNESDAY!

    1. Mimi,

That’s a good idea. Maybe after COVID pandemic magically disappears in the coming months, we can look forward to doing something like that next year. It would be nice to spend a long autumn weekend in the end. They have an outdoor fire pit and indoors they have at least one large open hearth for warming oneself by the fire. It’s such a gorgeous place! Right now, we’re in the saving mode for next year’s New England vacation. I’m so excited!

  1. I’ll make a comment with a blog from wp (blank), because the other comment I’m not sure entered.
Thank you for the linking. The images are very beautiful. I like this kind of colors.
Happy WW and a beautiful Autumn!

  2. Looks beautiful ! We are restricted with our travels can only stay in our country or a few other once otherwise you have to travel in your armchair and dig out old pictures !

    1. Gattina,

Folks in the US are ventured out for their summer vacations but with shops & restaurants not up to full capacity then we decided to postpone ours this year. Hopefully things will settle down by the time we’re ready. Armchair and photo albums are always good to soak up good memories. That kind of vacation is hard to beat!

    1. Sami,

Thanks for the return visit. Incidentally, your Gavatar profile and blog URL aren’t linked. If you want others to find a way back to your site, then you may wish to update your profile. 😉 The Little Switzerland Inn grounds is a very relaxing place for a weekend or week long get-away. 🙂

    1. Kathe,

It’s an amazing spot. Drats, I forgot to add a link to the Little Switzerland Inn. If you get a chance Google it. The inn is like an old alpine lodge – just gorgeous!

  3. A place I would love to explore. Beautiful.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Tom,

Jonas Ridge NC is not far from Linville Falls area along the BRP. We’ve been there a zillion times over the years and still haven’t made the hike to the falls. That was on our agenda for early this year but the pandemic got in the way of us doing that. Perhaps next year we’ll be successful in reaching our goal. I like the southern portion (from Asheville to Cherokee) of the parkway best.

    1. Natasha,

I’m awe-inspiring? WOW, what a compliment! Wait, maybe it’s my Brushstrokes photo creations that’s awe-inspiring. That would make more sense but it’s kinda nice if it’s me you’re talking about, though. 😀
