Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Christmas

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! Things have been a bit strained these past few days, as mentioned yesterday. I’m sorta out of the loop today in Blogosphere this morning and may not show myself until tomorrow. Life just has a way of running amuck sometimes, so whatcha gonna do about it? Not much, just go with the flow. Meanwhile, you can take a peek at my photo contribution on Wordless Wednesday.

We were driving around town when we passed one of the Veteran Memorial cemeteries and noticed how nice they decorated the grave sites for Christmas. I had DH to turn around so I could snap a few pictures.

Sending a round of applauds and cheers to this week’s featured photographer…

  1. Oh boy, I should take some pics of our snow too! Anyway, very nice photo and don’t they always put wreaths? I thought they did. hmmm It’s wonderful that they’re there for sure. Thanks for sharing my friend. Have a phototastic day! 🙂 HUGS

    1. Marie, I don’t know if this is something they do all the time or not. But, it seems I have seen wreaths on the veterans graves in the past, though.

  2. The vet cemetery looks beautiful with all of its headstones and wreaths. Being a government cemetery, you wouldn’t think they could decorate for Christmas. I have been wanting to get down to the Riverside, CA vet cemetery to get a picture of the FLAT headstone of my husband’s father and mother.

Just a question, while you were there did you see any new graves being put in? At the Riverside one, they lay concrete tombs over the ground then cover them with soil. The coffins are never in the ground.

    1. Danielle, no I didn’t see any open graves. But these give the appearance that the coffins are beneath ground. I could be wrong, though. It would seem, if the casket is above ground that it would take up more space. I was surprised to see all the wreaths, too. I suspect they come from private donations or else they wouldn’t be decorated like this.

  3. Nice photo. I read yesterdays post and I can say I understand about the stress completely. Job changes are why we have moved cross country twice. Not fun at all.

    1. Twice?! Wow, that’s amazing! I wouldn’t like doing that, either. I hope we can remain in the area. I know these things are in God’s hands and I will trust in Him.

    1. I’m sorry to hear of your lose. I have many relatives who served in the past wars and armed forces. I’m very grateful to all who give so freely of themselves to preserve our freedom.
