Venire in America!

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me!

John from The Sound of One Hand Typing submitted an excellent theme.   To honor Christopher Columbus, he suggests we build a playlist of Italian musicians, artists, and bands to share on the dance floor.  Let’s celebrate Columbus’ brave voyage by Coming to America Venire in America!

  2. Buona Notte ~Toto Cutugno
  3. The Ecstasy of Gold ~Il Volo

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

4M design by Cathy Kennedy

Last week, I mentioned in the coming new year the 4M crew is doing away with the honorary co-host spot, unless someone volunteers. It’s a big commitment.  Instead, I wanted to try getting y’all to come up with some themes.  January’s themes are up and the rest of the year is available.  Put on your thinking cap on and send in suggestions to me by email.  I will give credit to each person who submits a request.  The best part is you don’t have to co-host and theme helps to fuel the fun.

I’ll be back mid-week with a new set of photos from our Maine vacation.  I hope you’ll stop by for my fun memories.  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, CathySave

  1. I knew only two of the songs – The Ecstasy of Gold and Enjoy the Silence. For the latter, I have loved the Depeche Mode original for so many years, so was eager to hear the Lacuna Coil cover (and I didn’t know they were Italian!). They did an excellent job. I also enjoyed Il Volo. I like the directions your playlist took. Alana ramblinwitham

  2. The first playlist that I didn’t know any of the singers/band, and actually we only knew the last song…I think that is very unique, CK😸Well done on your playlist! Double Pawkisses from us to you🐾😽💞

    1. John,

Good luck on your search. This was a great theme. I glad you offered it up. It was great fun to go in search of the right music to feature this wee.

  3. Great theme and right up my alley. 😀 I’ve been listening to Italian music since the 1960s. My Italian hubby furthered that education, of course. 🙂 Toto Cutugno won the San Remo music festival with L’Italiano. The Gypsy Queens did a pretty good cover, but I love the original!

    1. Debbie,

Like all of my featured artists, Toto Cutugno was new to me. After I pulled this set together I had to listen to more by Toto on YouTube. I really like him a lot. I didn’t realize until you shared the video pf Toto that I posted a cover of his song. I remember seeing both but I thought both videos were his. roll eyes Gee, where was my head? Oh well…as you pointed out The Gypsy Queens did a nice cover. Thanks for sharing Toto’s original, though. Thanks for dropping by!

  4. Awww on that cute kitty. A boating kitty too. My kind of cat.

Love the playlist and what a wonderful idea. Excellent.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I knew you’d like that kitty. lol Our cat we had years ago absolutely hated the water. Every time I’d give her bath, it was a fight to keep her in the tube to finish the job. I’m glad I don’t have to do that anymore. Thanks for dropping by to the party, my dear!

      1. I really enjoyed listening to your choices…this is right up my alley. I love Hetty and the Jazzato Band. I love IL Volo who sang the song from Ennio Morricone so well. I wonder who wrote the lyrics as this piece is when The Ugly played by Eli Wallach, is searching for the grave where the gold is hidden. Did you know that IL Volo had a 4th person with an astounding voice! I have to look up his name, he was Spanish, but he died last year of Covid. I eas very sad about that because he sang the otherv3cawsy and the other 3 have stupendous voices.

        1. Birgit,

I don’t think that I knew IL Volo had a 4th member. It seems every time I’ve watched a music video of theirs there’s only been three. That’s sad news nonetheless to read about the 4th guy dying from Covid. I really like this group a lot, though. They have beautiful voices. Hetty and the Jazzato Band was a fun discovery. I love the girls vintage throwback style. They are fabulous! I’m glad you enjoyed this week’s music collection, my friend.

  5. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that little kitty-cat. He or she is a cutie!

For the most part, Italian language songs are foreign to my ears, but I enjoyed being exposed to them and to the songs performed in English by Italian artists. I especially enjoyed the majestic sound and spectacle of “The Ecstasy Of Gold,” a song by Ennio Morricone, the Italian composer who wrote scores for more than 400 movie and TV productions. “Ecstasy Of Gold” is part of his score for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, director Sergio Leone’s epic 1966 Italian spaghetti Western starring Clint Eastwood. How about those good looking men and their powerful voices? They are the Italian operatic pop trio named Il Volo. They return in “Grande Amore,” a video with a scene that must have been inspired by the Patrick Swayze – Demi Moore movie Ghost. In 2015, “Grande Amore” won the Sanremo Music Festival and did well in the Eurovision Song Contest. The powerful voices of Il Volo are featured again on “You Are My Everything.” I like Eilsabetta “Becky” Rossi, the vocalist and Celtic harpist for Furor Gallico, the Celtic folk metal and pagan metal band from the Lombardy region of Italy which includes Milan. The group has been active since 2007. Hetty & the Jazzato Band are absolutely charming! The Italian jazz band features founders and frontwomen Hetty Loxston, a classical and jazz-trained singer from London, and her childhood friend, clarinettist Charlotte Jolly, along with three male musicians. A few years ago, I collected CDs by the gothic metal band Lacuna Coil, another mewsic act from Milan, Italy, that you posted for us today.

I know that our friend John is tuned-in to acts like Hetty’s jazz band and can probably provide more info. Thank you for the refreshing sounds for a Monday morning, dear friend Cathy. Coincidently, I am featuring an Italian band at the top of my new post, and I invite you over to hear their signature song and the other mewsical offerings I selected. Have a wonderful week!

    1. Tom,

I’m glad to know that many of these artists you’re familiar with already. They were all new to me. I enjoyed coming up with the set. It’s great fun being exposed to new artists, especially those from foreign countries. John is quite versed in music like you. I hope he likes my choices. How cool your first song feature is from an Italian band. This is the second time I’ve run across today where someone’s theme coincides with this week’s music prompt. I think that’s really interesting. Thanks for popping by, my friend!
